The owner put a lot of passion into the property and it shows. Every intricate detail has a fascinating story. Also there is so much to do there - you are free to use the boats, roast marshmallows, the area is perfect for nature walks. Also the perfect center point to tons of interesting destinations, such as whitefish point and Seney wildlife refuge.

Wonderful, quiet, and serene location. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets! We stayed in the motel portion and loved the mid-century look. Lots of character to this place. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff. Very easy to check in. We could have easily stayed the entire day at the property if we didn't visit other attractions.

Because it was June/Summer, and the property is next to the water, in the deep woods, there were lots of mosquitos. Not sure if property could fog the premises. Bring plenty of bug spray! This is what we expected, however. We knew what we were in for. Just be prepared with bug spray when you get here.

Everyone there was so friendly and very helpful. We got excellent recommendations for dinner and activities. We had a room at the motel, but had access to all the common areas in the hotel. Our room was spacious, clean, and had great decor. My family of 4 fit in there nicely, we weren't cramped at all. The hotel was very spacious, the common areas were well kept and comfortable, and they had a cabinet with games you could borrow, and blankets for sitting outside. The breakfast of muffins and coffee was delicious. The outside is amazing. A beautiful little beach, great areas to sit and enjoy the amazing view, a great little area for a fire, and you can also purchase a s'mores package. Overall, it was beyond our expectations and we can't wait to go there again!

My husband and I had a wonderful time! it was the perfect little get-a-way for us to unplug for a long weekend. Our room was super clean and comfortable. We both don’t sleep very well and we were very surprised at how comfortable the bed was! I ordered the cheese and fruit board and it was the perfect little touch. We would definitely come back!

The staff, the comfort of the room, and the setting were all fantastic. We were so impressed with the way the facility is being maintained to honor its legacy. We appreciated the tour of the facility we got and the wonderful explanation of its history. The rooms are furnished beautifully in the lodge and the motel also honors the period of its beginnings. The homemade muffins in the morning were yummy. The staff was very helpful in giving us tips of places to visit the day we left. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay here.

There isn't anything that could have been improved.

Host was an wonderful person to talk with. Hospitality was great. Room size was exactly what it was supposed to be. Last but not the least the location. You will get a nice room to stay right by the lake.

Was expecting a coffee maker or Microwave in the room. Nearest restaurant is 20 mins drive. Though they server Coffee, Muffins and Oatmeal at the reception desk in the morning, but having a coffee maker in the room will be real good choice specially during freezing days.

The staff was very friendly! The rooms were clean, comfortable, and beautiful. The history about the place was an added bonus. The flower beds were simply breathtaking. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from it all!

If you go in the summer bring bug spray. We did and we glad to have it. If you are wanting technology this isn't the place for you. The hotel that is right beside the lodge does have televisions. The lodge doesn't. It didn't bother us, but might others.

We loved everything about Birch Lodge. The interior is gorgeous, the rooms are beautiful and outside is so serene. The owners are very friendly, it's their home and you can feel that. We loved that it was an easy straight drive to Tahquamenon Falls. As soon as you walk in you can feel the stress roll right off you. We love the trails, kayaking, and watching those beautiful sunsets!

The mosquitos, but bug spray is kept by the door.

We stayed in the motel part, which is a restored retro 1964 motel right on a small lake. (The hotel is the old sanitarium from 1911.) Our room was great; on the end, so we had openable windows on three sides. Fun that it looked old, but was quite modern. Host is doing a great job restoring the place. Coffee and a free little breakfast available in the morning in the old hotel. Great location; nice place to stay.
