I loved this hotel. I'd heard that hotel rooms in New York were tiny, so we splurged and got the bunk bed suite, which had enough room for myself and my three kids to hang out comfortably. It's just a few blocks from the A and C subway lines, which can take you to most of the tourist spots in Manhattan, and within walking distance of the Brooklyn Bridge. The breakfast is a step above the normal hotel breakfast experience: Greek yoghurt, cut melons, sandwich meats, etc. Water, coffee, apples, oranges and cookies are made available all day in the lobby. There are also lots of eating options in the area, ranging from 99 cent pizza, to late night delis, to nicer sit-down restaurants, and there's a Trader Joe's a few blocks away. The room was very clean and spacious enough. It had a fridge and a keurig coffee.

The cost was significantly more expensive than other hotels I was looking at, but I think the location and overall niceness of the room and hotel made it worth the expense. We don't go to New York very often, so might as well make it enjoyable while we're there!

The bed in my first room was terrible, maybe the mattress was worn, but the bed in the second room was very good. The rooms are a good size and have everything I need. The Keurig coffee machine in the room was great! The breakfast is grab-and-go, continental, and rather limited. Some of the reception staff are super friendly and helpful, others not so much, but that's expected pretty much everywhere. All in all, I would book again.

The A/C machinery at the back of the hotel makes an annoying racket - 24/7. I asked to change rooms because of that and was much happier in the room facing the street, even as the sirens are traffic noise is pretty constant. At least that reduces during the middle of the night, and the double glazing helps to block some of the noise.

it was very cool. loved the staff, oatmeal, fruit, coffee, tea, almond milk & cookies

even though the bed at first appeared to be fun, it was challenging & took a night to get comfortable. it would be better without the border at the end of the bed and maybe a better mattress or at least 2” memory foam. the hammock was also fun at first. then we realized it was always in the way & took up too much space. it would be better if it could be lifted up w/ a pulley when not in use. the refrigerator wasn’t functioning properly, since everything in it was almost room temperature

amazing location in Brooklyn, Smith and Court streets have hundreds of great restaurants and shops for wandering, Hoyt is also near and very cute, you are 10 min walking distance from Dekalb food court and Brooklyn Academy of Music, all the subways are close. The rooms are clean and spacious for NYC, the breakfast is basic but good and the filtered water that you can have hot or cold, carbonated or flat is great. I will definitely make this my place to stay in Brooklyn.

A little bit expensive, the staff didn't know much about getting to and from the airport which was surprising but they were super nice about it and I found directions on my phone (the A Train goes straight to JFK easy).

Room was good size by NYC standards & very clean. Overall location of hotel was convenient. Included breakfast was ample. Staff was friendly. Overall, a good value.

In-room AC/heat unit was very noisy. Hotel is literally across the street from the Brooklyn county jail. While this doesn’t seem to pose any safety risks, it means a LOT of loud sirens at all hours of the day & night.

The staff, particularly the woman who checked me in and was working the desk each night of my stay, was exceptionally friendly and kind. The location couldn’t have been better with a convenient parking garage right next door. It was surprisingly quiet in my room and I slept great each night I was there.

The furniture was pretty flimsy. The “coffee table” was tiny and broken, the chair was stiff and uncomfortable and the desk space was really small. The platform bed was very close to the ground. It wasn’t an uncomfortable bed, but it wasn’t a comfortable bed either.

Had a lovely 4-night stay here in November. It's a very "boutique" hotel that's stylish everywhere. The staff was warm and helpful. Good free breakfast with lots of options. Good location for an urban experience and convenient transit.

My rate was over $300/night with tax which I thought was high -- I've stayed in prime Manhattan for much less. May have been my short-notice reservation (1 week) and the time of year.

NU hotel is a lovely, bright and hip little hotel in downtown Brooklyn. It was perfect for a quick stay - excellent location near many trains and a lot of cute coffee shops and boutiques. The art on the walls in the rooms is so unique! The rooms were cozy and overall the hotel was very clean. I had to stay for work and there was a nice little workspace, as well. Free coffee and breakfast in the AM was definitely a perk!

It didn’t seem like there were many staff members, but that may have been due to COVID restrictions or because I stayed early in the week! the staff that were there were very friendly.

Great location, Smith Street has lots of nice restaurants and good metro connections to Manhattan and other Brooklyn areas. Pretty big rooms for New York standards with a king size bed. We liked the quick and easy breakfast at the hotel.

Bathroom was not the newest, but clean overall.

Good location. Close to just about everything from the subway to convenience stores, food and anything you may have wanted. I did not have the breakfast though it looked nice and had the usual bagels, fruit, yogurt. Coffee and tea available at all times in the lobby and it was good. Rooms were big and simple. Very clean. I was on the 4th floor bright and sunny room. Pod coffee maker in room and small fridge. Plenty of places to charge your things. Simple bathroom, but very clean.

Fan for the heat is very loud. Police station across the street lots of lights and noise. Rainhead only in the shower. Would prefer a hand held options. Pipes very loud with hot water.
