The staff was very helpful. We needed an early check in time and they came through with flying colors. They said they would try and get us in by 1:30 pm and we arrived around 12:30 pm and the room was ready. How nice it was to be able to get ready for the wedding we were attending without rushing and even having time to relax a little before the event.

The local phone number for the inn was not in service the day before we were supposed to arrive so that was a little inconvenient since that was the only number I had with me to confirm the reservation. Luckily I was able to get the toll free number to the inn and everything went smoothly with confirmation and the request for early check in.

Friendly & helpful front desk staff. I needed to have a warning light in my car checked, and the front desk printed me out a list of about 7 local service stations, with addresses & phone numbers.

It was a hike from the parking lot to the hotel entrance. The ramp up to the front door was blocked due to construction, which was a real shame because my suitcase was very heavy and I didn’t appreciate having to haul it up the steps. The a/c in the cafe wasn’t adequate. I had a granola bowl w yogurt & fresh fruit for breakfast both days. The canteloupe was underripe and not fit to eat. The service was a little slow, due I think to there being only one server. There is an old-fashioned elevator that requires someone to operate it. An automatic elevator that guests could use without having to disturb the front desk would have been preferable.

I love the appearance of the old Inn, that it maintains its original heritage charm. I appreciated the lobby area with its couches and work spaces where you could plug in a laptop or charge your phone while having a complimentary cofee (which was delicious). The staff were all helpful, but some were friendlier than others 😊. I liked the tiling in the walls of the bathtub. Love the old elevator. I love Middlebury, beautiful town.

I could not quite maintain the right temperature in my room, with the air conditioner. I was either a bit too cold or a bit too hot. I also would love to see at least 1 vegan option on the Inn's restaurant menu for breakfast and another for a lunch or dinner option. It can be something simple but if it is labeled vegan on the menu I feel included and respected when I see it.

Breakfast was delicious and more than I could eat in beautiful dining room. The location was perfect for getting to hiking trails and walking downtown. The landscaping and historical buildings everywhere added to the ambiance. It was truly a pleasurable experience.

The room we had in the annex was next to the staff supply closet and laundry. We were told this was an upgrade which made no sense when we found our room, particularly as the hotel was not full. Luckily, the staff made little noise and we weren’t disturbed too much.

I didnt have any expectations , It was a last minute stay for my grandchildren to experience Fort Ticonderoga and the Ferry. The Inn itself is beautiful and one day I shall be back to enjoy it for myself.

there isn't anything that I can say I didn't like. It was a brief visit and hoped to return day to experience more of Middlebury and the Inn as well. A place worth the time to explore when not in such a hurry.

Everything! On Wednesday, Tracy even returned my call which I had made while on the road—explained how no afternoon tea was being served anymore. Later, Everette too was helpful in explaining why since I booked through a third party any changes to my room number could not be made. Luckily, room 102 assigned by Booking.com turned out to be ideal. Most important, it was quiet. Early morning tea and coffee in the lobby was extremely welcome. So was the cold water dispenser at the entrance. Was very happy to have a fridge in the room. Was afraid that my room not being deluxe or luxury, might not have one. Old is gold. The fact that the Inn is from another era was charming.

The fact that the elevator had to be operated by someone at the desk instead of by guests themselves. I did not need to use it. Enjoyed going up the steps. There were tow table lamps and one of them did not work. The bulb was not the issue. Hope they took care of the problem.

What a great place. Striking on the outside and beautiful piece of history on the inside. Make sure to get a reservation for the dinner at Morgan's Tavern within the hotel. Great food and reasonable prices. Go on Wednesday for live Jazz, which was really great. We had a fantastic meal. We stayed in one of the rooms in the modern annex in the parking lot, which was just fine for us, the room was large, quiet, and very spacious with a couch area and a nice bathroom. A/C was great on a very hot summer day and the beds were very comfortable. We loved it.

Really there were no issues at all with our visit. The only thing I'd mention is to make clear if you want to be in the main building or one of the annex buildings. If this is a romantic vacation away and you're expecting a room in the 1820's building, make sure in advance. We actually wanted to be in the annex and we're happy we were since we could pull our car right up to our door.

The staff was outstanding. They were always welcoming and ready to help, no matter what time of day you walked up to the desk. We arrived around midnight and were still treated with kindness. The clerk was in a great mood, helped us with our large bags, and took us up in that cool old elevator they have, which has to be operated manually. He even walked us all the way to the room to help us tired folks after a very long four day train trip to get there. The place was immaculate, in spite of it's age! The restaurant was fantastic too. The service was exceptional, the food delicious, and the prices are very fair. I did not hear a single sound while in my room. The quietest, most restful sleep I have ever gotten in a hotel! I can not wait to go back, perhaps in the winter next time, to explore adorable Middlebury in a different season. Summer was perfect there. Thank you for such a great experience!

The decor and style was so enjoyable. The room temperature was quite comfortable. The beds were very nice. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was very pleasant. I highly recommend staying in the old part of the inn!!

The water pressure was low, so showering was less than ideal, but this is not unexpected in a historic building like this. The fan in the bathroom didn't work properly, so our room became quite steamy after showers.

Beautiful traditional Inn with original decor. Felt like traveling back in time. The rooms are furnished in old style, but not dated. Beds were very comfy and bathroom modernized, even had an infrared heating system. Very central location in Middlebury. Good value for money compared to other places we stayed at.

No breakfast included in room rate, but free tea or coffee available in the lobby in the mornings. No fridge in the room. Sketchy WiFi, router was restarted though, after we notified the front desk.
