Overall, I would highly recommend Duo Nomad to anyone travelling to DC on a budget. We found it very good value for money. The location was excellent: you could walk to the Capitol in around 20 minutes. The hostel is also well connected to public transport: there is a Metro station nearby and several bus stops within a few minutes' walk. The staff were all lovely and fostered a sense of community. A special shoutout to Jessica who was so lovely to us the entire stay. Check-in and check-out were entirely painless. The property felt secure, with electronic locks. All the facilities were what you expect from a hostel: standard kitchen, bathrooms etc. The beds were relatively comfortable compared to the other hostels we stayed stayed in! The management were very emphatic about cleanliness, taking off your shoes, and keeping the kitchen tidy. This was very much appreciated, as we will have all stayed in hostels where it was just chaos. Very glad to have stayed and I have already recommended it to several friends who are travelling The States later this summer.
The only small concern I had was that the male showers were downstairs, away from the bedrooms. And the toilets led off immediately from the lounge. There was absolutely no issue with cleanliness etc. but I felt like a lacked a little privacy walking through a communal space to go to the toilet or have a shower. I want to emphasise that this is really a minor comment, and more of a me issue as I'm quite awkward about these kind of things! If you're well used to hostel travelling, then this will be of no concern to you.

great location, near to everything: the capital, a cluster of amazing museums, great restaurants and nearby cvs’. Amazing staff. They make great pancakes and coffee for breakfast, and gave me wonderful suggestions for the tour. Other residents were also super nice. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly hostel in the center of DC.
I didn’t have enough sleep in the last night due to the chatting from a neighboring building, which lasted to 1 am, and that I had a bus to catch on 7. The sounds were super clear… Also I would suggest they equip the restroom for women with a lock.

The hostel itself has the atmosphere of a real home and family. AC and J were fantastic. They were welcoming, helpful, and pleasant. The ambiance and location of the establishment were fantastic, and it was within walking distance of the metro, shops, and restaurants. Cleanliness and comfort are common, as is silence at night and early in the morning. AC makes delicious pancakes, ranging from plain to blueberry and chocolate. Breakfast was generally satisfactory, despite the lack of options. My stay was unquestionably fantastic.
Stiff staircase, despite being a vintage and classic type of old American home.

Location and staff. This is a traditional hostel in a converted house so there is limited space and steep stairs. The staff will help with luggage and are very friendly and accommodating. It is located near a metro stop in a nice, safe neighborhood, near many restaurants, super markets and the weekly farmers/ artisan market.
cleanliness. the surfaces were clean, but the blinds, skirting boards and vents were filthy. Women’s bathroom absolutely needs a lock. You can’t lock the rooms and they are mixed gendered so there is nowhere to change in private as anyone can open the women’s bathroom door at any point and see everything. Get rid of the smoking patio. It’s a nasty habit and one that doesn’t need to be supported and there is limited social space. Stains. So many stains on the mattresses and pillows.

Cosy hostel with a focus on the communal vibe. Lovely shared living room area and a kitchen where you can cook. A breakfast of homemade chocolate chip pancakes was provided, which was a thoughtful touch. The beds were super comfy and the bathrooms fitted out nicely. The staff were friendly and helpful, even offering to carry my bag upstairs for me when I was struggling! Truly excellent value for money for a cosy, welcoming space that was in a great location to get to the sights - 2 or 3 stops on the metro.
Nothing I didn't like particularly and using this space to note that the hostel is based in an old house which is charming but has the old windy stairs to go with it, so to be ready for that when you get there!

The location is easy to find by metro station, nearby the white house and all travelling spot, just a few mins ride the bus, also neighborhood is pretty for just walk around it's support you to cook, full eqipment and be able to store grocery on the fridge, There are trader joe just a few mins walk from hostel. Bed clean, soft, and comfy. staff was really nice.they was invited me to join watching TV in living room. Worth in the small price!
The bathroom is weird, only 1 room from all hostel but 2 shower room inside + toilette, the door also can't lock. I always feel paranoid every time when I shower. The hostel locate at the main street, at the early morning, you can heard the noice from the car on the street. The ladder is too small and narrow, you need to carry you suitecase to upstair carefully.

The breakfast was great, fresh pancakes were prepared every day. The rooms are cozy and the beds comfortable. There is a lounge with a TV where movie nights were often held in the evenings. There is also a separate room for working. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the employee Marcus also showed me and a friend the best spots in the city. The location is great and you can get to the museums and monuments quickly.

It was close to everything scenic in a safe neighborhood. The staff were fantastic with the vibes and tour recommendations. It was my first solo travel and having such a home atmosphere made my trip experience great. There are rules about the time availability of common areas such as the living room area. But this worked perfectly because I would be really tired in the evening and would be tired and asleep by midnight. I recommend this place for someone seeking a chilled, homely and organized hostel. Thanks Sascha and Az!

It’s very clean, comfort and quiet, if you’re looking for a calm place this is the one. 5 mins walk from metro station. Lot of stores and restaurants around. Great location.
I didn’t like the room doors couldn’t be locked, my room was next to main entrance and guest were coming in thinking it was reception, so I felt a bit uncomfortable leaving my luggage in the room.
