the surprise $35 “hotel fee” PER DAY for Wi-Fi bottled water, use of the gym and a tote bag- are you kidding me? I loved the hotel- but the fee is insulting - if you want to charge more just charge more.

Loved our 3 night stay at Riggs. The hotel is very conveniently placed to explore the sights of Washington by foot but also near to the Metro if required. We actually took the Metro back to the airport at the cost of $4 as opposed to paying $80 for a taxi on our arrival, if only we’d known! Our room was extremely comfortable and clean, the breakfasts were very good and the staff, without exception, were lovely . All in all a great place to stay.

Relatively small room for 4 persons. Not enough space for our luggage. I did not understand during booking that the room had no city view. I had to pay more to get one with city view and drove me off budget

We - a family with two kids (5 and 8 years old) - stayed in the Riggs for four nights. The hotel is really comfortable und its location is very good to explore the city from there. We also enjoyed the breakfast and Café Riggs. But definitely the best of Riggs is the chief of concierge Tiffany Gary. She not only gave us valuable advice for our stay in Washington and helped us to get tickets, but also provided a pleasant surprise at the next stop of our trip in New York. Thank you, Tiffany.

Something to be improved: Yes. The air condition in our room worked a bit too noisy and on one day our room as cleaned very late.

From the moment we went there at 8am, straight off the flight with no check in til 4pm (Dwaybe let us check in immediately) until the moment we got the Uber to the airport home (Coach and Mr D.C shaking out hands wishing us a safe journey), EVERY MEMBER OF STAFF WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND. The hotel was spotless, the rooms were amazing, the food was pretty good, the drinks were nice, the location is fantastic and the customer service is the best I've had since moving to the states 2 years ago.

The menu in the Cafe could have been deeper with choices, HOWEVER, I went there 3 times and had the Riggs Burger each time and it was DELICIOUS. Such a small complaint, it doesn't even classify as one. The hotel is exceptional.

Beautiful and authentic hotel, very well located for visiting most Washington high- lights(walking,cycling ir by metro) and close to the Convention center and many shops. Overall very friendly and professional staff with a special mention for Vincent, the bell man,who was very attentive and fullfilled all requests. Nice rooms, hyperclean,comfortable and well equipped with safe/minibar( I loved the banker’s lay- out) and coffee machine. Nice and elegant café/restaurant Riggs with great bar and cocktails. Fitness-room looked also great.

No open acces to rooftop bar, reserved for private events. This was not a big issue. Breakfast not included for this price.

The Hotel has a lot of character being a recently renovated Bank! The room was exceptional for a city centre location. Large and very comfortable with a double outlook being on the front corner of the building. Great! Staff were in all cases friendly and helpful. Room was kept very clean and mineral water bottles refreshed daily. Very comfortable and popular bar and restaurant. The location is both central and very close to most sights but also in a relaxed and calm neighbourhood. One or two very good restaurants close by. We enjoyed The Smith across the street. All in all a brilliant stay.

The restaurant was popular and busy so make a reservation. And (especially to Europeans) noisy. On the table opposite us a small group of young ladies held a long/loud face time call. Would have been nice if they had held it down a bit or staff asked them too.

The staff at the Riggs were simply beyond superlatives. They were fabulous. One of the doormen sang us songs. The others were also super efficient and helpful. Turita, the security person, was amazing. I am used to security at hotels being gruff, slightly sinister and rarely seen. Turita was everywhere, all the time, and totally observant; she remembered everything and was extremely friendly and positive. It was FUN to bump into hotel security at the Riggs. The staff at the Riggs made the trip to Washington better, and you can’t ask for more from a hotel.

The room was dark. I mean REALLY dark. I mean dark, as in, I had to use my cell phone flashlight to find my clothing in my suitcase. There was no chest of drawers and there were virtually no usable shelves, so the room was also not really convenient. There was a tiny, pretend desk with pretend chairs, but you couldn’t really use either one. The outlets were hard to use.

The Riggs was all we hoped for and more. The staff was extremely friendly, from the doorman through to the manager, they were really looking out for us. The location was superb, we could walk anywhere or take the hotels bikes free of charge. It's so close to the mall and there are really good places to eat around (Clydes is a must), the Ford theatre is just the next street down and there are quite a few shops all in walking distance. The capital one arena is close as well which was a plus as we went to see a game. Directly opposite you find the National Portrait Gallery where you can find paintings of all US presidents and a very enchanting indoor garden. We really felt at home in this beautiful hotel. Our kids loved the hotel as well - it was really a great place to stay at as a family and super kid friendly. We will make sure to stay here again when in DC. Loved it.

The hotel is beautiful - such a fantastic building, The location is great to start exploring the sights of the city. The bar was also very unique and impressive in its design, they made decent coffee and offered good food even late. The room was in general big enough, apart from the bathroom (see below). The design was special, but we appreciated it. There was free water and wifi.

The bathroom was a challenge, and we are not big people! It is so tiny that it was really difficult to close the door when you want to use the toilet (or shower). We had to stand over the toilets with legs spread wide and squeeze it along so that it would close. For the price and overall experience of the hotel, this was the biggest disappointment for us, as we would not have expected that to be such an issue. The wifi did not work one of the mornings, but I guess that can happen. The room made some annoying noises such as a clicking sound that would not turn off.
