The Carrington is a wonderful old hotel with loads of character and style. The lounges, dining room and bar areas were all interesting and although repainted, retained the old world charm. Our room was large enough and contained some lovely furniture pieces. The views to the Sydney CBD, and across Katoomba to the Jamieson Valley were amazing from the second floor window. The bed was comfortable and all room facilities were convenient. The newly refurbished bathroom was large and modern and included an excellent shower. Undercover parking was spacious and convenient. The rather quaint elevator was appreciated. The included continental breakfast was quite extensive, the pastries and fruits were very fresh and the atmosphere with pleasant music was really nice. The hotel is very central in the town.
Nothing. It was just as we had hoped it would be.

Check in: Very friendly guy (lovely accent) on reception. Car parking: We mistakenly went right in the car park, and parked in an undercover garage. TIP - park up here to easily unload bags and walk through back entrance to reception. The correct car park is down to the left, down a hill. Room: Very spacious, fairly basic. Thought the room could have used some art work? The views from the windows were lovely during the day. The lift to get to the room (3rd floor) takes a bit of getting used to but is part of the charm. Cocktail bar & lounge: Nice olde world hotel vibes. Great to sit and have a drink, very comfortable. Grand Dining Room: We had dinner from the limited menu, and were happy with our selections (Lamb, Jaffa Mouse). Service was excellent. The room is very ornate and we felt comfortable. Verdict: Would probably stay again, but in warmer weather due to the bathroom being so cold.
Bathroom: The bathroom was FREEZING (late June). The tiles were so cold to walk on, there were no extra mats to stand on. There was no heater in the bathroom, it had exposed windows, and no heated towel rack. I would not stay here again in Winter due to this. Check out: The lady checking us out did not really speak to me, did not ask about our stay, or wish us a safe trip home. I found this really unusual, she was not busy with anything else. Just told me the total, took the card, and handed me a receipt without saying anything else.

My second stay. It just feels like home. Love the history here. It's not modern but facilities like bathroom have been modernised in keeping with the heritage. Staff are lovely. Included breakfast is excellent. And staff at Charlie's Bar were run off their feet but were excellent and friendly. Location is excellent with both hop on hop.off bus and regular public buses at the front door with train station 2 mins away. Easy to get train from Sydney. Can't wait to visit again.
I loved it all.

I have lovely childhood memories of staying at The Carrington Hotel with my parents in the 1970’s, which began my fascination with this beautiful property. I am so pleased it has been renovated so lovingly and respectfully after many years of being closed to the public and reopening some years ago. The atmosphere is old worldly and relaxing allowing us to enjoy a little yesteryear. Dinner in The Grand Dining room was fine dining and delicious, as was breakfast the following morning. The staff were professional and friendly. Already planning our next stay. ☺️

Beautiful old building filled with history and interesting objects. The Lounge is a wonderful space to sink into a comfy chair and relax with a beverage or snack from Champagne Charlies bar. Well stocked games room for when the weather turns bad. Generous continental breakfast and great service from Will.
Nothing major, but the American country music playing in the lounge one evening really wasn't compatible with the decor of this grand room and somewhat detracted from our enjoyment. No room in our bathroom to put toiletries etc.

What a beautiful historical building The Carrington Hotel is, with all the period features of extra high ornate ceilings, timber panels, stained glass windows and antique furniture. The Grand Dining Room was really special to have breakfast in reading the history with the framed photos on the walls was amazing. Our room was very comfortable and the bed large and excellent mattress. The beautiful restaurant, The Old City Bank Brasserie, owned by the same hotel next door, had fantastic meals and a great vibe too and lots of other cafes, restaurants and interesting shops close by. The hotel staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly. We would stay again in a heartbeat!

Grand old hotel at the top end of the street with views to the Great Dividing Range from our room at back of hotel. Room was huge and bed comfortable. Olde world ambience, roomy verandas and gardens for lunches from the bar. Bar food was reasonably priced. Room had tea making facilities. TV and internet all ok. The lift built 1904 is an ancient wonder. Stairs are creaky like in a haunted house. Newly constructed undercover car park is nice. Staff were helpful when we asked to extend our stay another night. This was our second stay at The Carrington.
About $300 per night is on the high side for an old 3 star hotel. The continental breakfast was included in the price but could have been improved by addition of some slices of cheese or meat. Hotel is about 140 years old and so plenty of faded glory. Some furniture in the room needs replacement. Don't stay here if you require modern furnishings and glamour but if you like old and comfortable and plenty of space in a central location it is good.

The unique time travel experience was fun and every space was lovingly restored, beautiful ,very interesting with all the historical information on the property to read and the huge reception areas plus the verandah makes it feel so Grand. I was enjoying the art everywhere, Norman Lindsay prints especially. Like the Art Deco touches. Room was so comfy, bathroom is spacious and unique. A truly special treat, far exceeded expectations. Breakfast awesome! Location perfect. Just go there!
The lack of view enjoyment, as the ongoing terrace renovations meant not able to access the roof verandah. Looked out windows instead.

This is a grand old hotel. The common areas are very elegant. The room was quite spacious and well lit. View of the Blue Mountains was nice to wake up to. There is a small fridge and coffee facilities in the room. Location is excellent with dozens of restaurants within easy walking distance. Katoomba is close to the Three Sisters and Leura, a nice town to visit.
Everything was fine with us. Note that there are quite a few stairs required to enter the hotel. Not a problem unless you're mobility impaired.

Beautiful old early 20th century grand hotel in great position in central Katoomba. Gorgeous stained glass windows. Very comfortable beds. Wonderful decor and artwork. Tourist bus stop out the front. Generally extremely helpful staff.
The dining room and Lounge bar were closed for a wedding. I wish they had told us when we booked because when we arrived all the good restaurants in town were already booked, so we ended up with takeaway pizza. A big let down for what was meant to be a special weekend. One grumpy waitress in the Lounge bar.
