It sits right in the centre of the Katoomba town and there is an international array of cuisines within a stone’s throw away from its doorstep. It is surrounded by quaint shops and thrift shops so do take time to explore the lively to own. The heritage hotel is simply beautiful with class. You can play pool and billiard for free in the most exquisite rooms. Wonderful base to explore the Blue Mountains via trekking, visit the Scenic World and see the Jenolan Caves.
There is no swimming pool here.

The staff were great, very helpful with info on where to see the 3 sisters at different times for the best views and other things of historic interest on the area.
Continental breakfast...means something else in Europe. If you want anything hot other than toast, you have to order and pay extra, and that includes coffee. I would seriously suggest investing in an automated coffee machine for guests. Not everything has to be about profit. At most, a guest would consume 2 coffee's, tap it onto the price of the room at cost.

Traditional elegance of a bygone age. Facilities like comfortable lounge, convenient bar, billiard room, library, grand dining room, bistro, etc. are all available. An excellent continental breakfast is included in the room price. Some modern conveniences may be missing but all the essentials are there plus a big dose of atmosphere. We loved it.
A building designed in the days when bellboys or porters would carry your luggage is not so convenient in the modern age with stairs, and garages without internal access, but these are minor inconveniences.

The charm and mystique of the building is everything you could hope for in a building built in 1880. We arrived a bit early and where able to access our room. The car park is brilliant and the drinks are exceptional well priced.
The lift was out of action for the first 2 days which certainly caused some inconvenience for some of the elderly people staying. The garden area at the front of the building seems to be a hang out for some young people who are not behaving appropriately and make you feel a little unsafe upon returning to the building.

The breakfast is a surprise with fruits and other choice. The bread and pastries are amazing 👏.
The sound insulation has a big big room to improve. Nobody wants to know the next door people goes to toilet at night! Make sure the room has been fully dusted before let guest to go in. No instructions to let guest know how to contact the Reception Desk. The bathroom fan needs attention - it didn't work. The big rubbish bin inside the room is unnecessary. It will be a bonus if a magnifying mirror is installed above the sink in the bathroom for the convenience of some guests.

I felt like a British tourist of the 19th century, we particularly loved the billiard room with its board games
Breakfast options could be improved as well as the bar’s drink list

The hotel ambience of a bygone era is beautiful! The grand rooms with stunning leadlights and beautiful furnishings are amazing. Breakfast in the grand dining room offered a good selection, more than enough to start your day. We especially enjoyed warm croissants and yummy pastries! Our room with its bay window and leadlight glass was lovely. The grand hotel is in the main street just a short walk from the train station. Bus leaves from right outside the hotel to take you to all major attractions and the villages of Leura and Wentworth Falls.

We had a really short getaway in Sydney and decided to catch the train to Katoomba for two nights. We made a last minute booking at the Carrington Hotel and our experience exceeded our expectations! The location was perfect being close to the train station and in the main street with access to restaurants, shops and public transport. It was an absolute delight staying in a heritage listed hotel and we loved it! We soaked up the history on both nights enjoying an apertif in the cocktail bar before dinner, and then retiring to the billiards room. We dined in the Old City Bank restaurant on our final night and the food was superb. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Be sure to explore the cellars with a wonderful collection of wines and fine foods. We will definitely be back!
Our room did not have an air conditioner and this could be challenging for some guests, especially in summer.

The hotel certainly has character, and was clearly very grand in days gone by. Staff were very friendly, and the public spaces were cosy and welcoming.
The hotel is showing signs of age, particularly around the windows - our sash window was rotten on the sill outside, and the bathroom was very dated. We were disappointed with Katoomba itself. Despite being a great base to visit the Blue Mountains (the hop-on/hop-off bus stop was right outside), the town itself, particularly the main street, was pretty shabby, with a shortage of nice restaurants, some tatty shop fronts, and closed units. Possibly a long-lasting consequence of Covid lockdowns?

The whole family loved staying in this classic hotel from a bygone era. We sat next to the fire in the grand reading room where we played games and had drinks & snacks. The bedrooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. We had a couple of rainy days during our stay. We were happy to be in a spacious and lovely place. The location is great. We walked to scenic world, around 30 min away, along with Katoomba falls. We also took an Uber out to the Grand Canyon track one day. The little town has great restaurants and fun second-hand shops. The continental breakfast was great.
Nothing.
