We booked and then read the reviews (whoops). Then worried all night that we'd be charged extra for something. However, the owners were lovely and very welcoming, our room was one of the best on our trip up from Melbourne. We had our cat with us - note that pets are not allowed on the furniture - but we had a pillow and blanket for her and she was happy enough in the bathroom overnight. T

he only suggestion would be milk in the room - but we had some with us so didn't bother the owners for some - you can go and ask though during opening hours. Note that a room deposit is required on arrival - I guess the owners have had some bad experiences with guests.

The room and bathroom were very clean. Pets were welcome which made travelling through with my Labrador very easy. Staff were very friendly and helpful and happy to accommodate requests. Would stay gain.

Would have been great to have cutlery in the room, this was available from reception but after 11 hours of travel having to leave the room to collect items from reception wasn't something I wanted to do.

Staff very agreeable and accommodating. Initially I made an error on my booking and made it for 2 adults and a puppy, but I actually had 2 x 12 year old kids that I needed space for also. James made that happen. Thanks James.

Look, I cannot complain given that we got the space last minute. Only issue for me..because I love my sleep was the bed comfort. A less soggy mattress and bunks that don't creak on the slightest movement. However, it was clean, we had hot water. James also explained that there were improvements being made, so other than those things...it was fab!

The room was very spacious and clean. The bed and pillows were immaculate and super comfortable. The bathroom was clean with an updated shower recess. The motel is old but I am too, so no points lost for that! It's located close to everything and being pet friendly is a winner for me.

Great location, easy to access (but one way in&out), park close by to wander thru with pet, great shower. Wish I used the pool but I have a feeling the water would have been too cold.

I personally had trouble with getting into my room, instructions were simple but for some reason my slide action was all wrong. Quite a busy street, so road noise closer to the street, would be less the next level down.

After reading reviews I was a little concerned, but I was pleasantly surprised. We had a lovely renovated room. With a large TV, Netflix if you want it. A lovely clean new bathroom, beds were comfortable and clean. It had a new mini bar size fridge. I could park my car directly outside my room so it was convenient to pack and unpack. Easy check in. A comfy leather lounge to relax on.. Close to town. A great place for my daughter and our two dogs to stay.

I would suggest having plates, bowls and cutlery in the room. I'm celiac and have to carry my food everywhere. And had to go without breakfast as there was nothing to eat it from. Also the shower temperature was cold one second and piping hot the next. Which I should have mentioned to staff but forgot.

I’ve stayed at The Koala Tree a couple of times and highly rate it. James is always helpful and courteous, the rooms are clean and quiet, and I can walk to the water in 15 minutes. I think some of the reviews are very harsh. Sure it’s at the cheaper end…so that’s what you get for that money

Lovely rooms for what we needed for a nights rest with our dog on the way up the coast .

The shower leaked into the bathroom floor through the tiles , I think the waterproofing needs maintenance. Also there was a kettle and coffee making things but no teaspoons or milk , minor inconveniences , still very happy with our stay .

Traveling with a dog makes it difficult to find affordable accommodation. Koala tree was great for us. Our puppy was also allowed in the pool, which was perfect as it was 35 degrees that day!

There were some renovations going on which wasn't ideal. There was also a car blocking the entrance everyday which meant we had to go around the back when coming in from a day out.

Beds very comfortable, rain shower in bathroom tho water pressure is a little weak. Balcony at the other side of room is great, even though it's shared it doesn't feel like it, very long and spacious. Streaming services on TV was great to have too!
