The desk lady went out of her way to organise luggage storage while we went for a few days to Magnetic Island. Also, the same lady gave us a very convenient early check-in on our return. Also the room maid made a point of actually asking what we needed during our stays. Unlike most other hotels on this Queensland holiday where we became sick of chasing the staff up for milk etc.

The hotel initially refused to store our spare luggage for only three nights until we returned to this hotel as booked and paid for. "It could not be done!" Luckily, one individual made time to help us and arrange this for us. The hotel admin should wake up to the fact that customers could well be going over to Magnetic Island then returning to them and OFFER short- term storage. Change your policy please. as if it were not for the one mentioned desk-lady, this review would not be so good!

Loved the sea facing balcony, big couch, friendliness of the cleaners and when I had rung prior to arriving the staff were willing to take my request not to have a shower that is inside a bath (due to back injury of my travelling companion) and we even managed to get this despite being full most of the week we were there. Loved being in the middle of the Strand with so many restaurants available within walking distance even in the pouring rain

Only a microwave as a cooking facility but luckily we realized this before we arrived. Car park is great, except that it fills up rapidly at the end of the working day so if you drive to go out for tea, you don't usually get a park again. The shower is massive (a positive for me) but only has half a door so the water splashes everywhere. Also found not all the neighbours abide by the no smoking rules on the balcony but that was our problem for not reporting them. Overall a really nice place to stay

Location & Price & cleanliness

Frustrating having a single bed ensemble for a couch but needing to pay if we wanted to use it as a bed - even if we used our own linen (we’d taken a blow up bed + linen)- we were concerned I may need more room in bed post operatively. Luckily we managed to both fit in the queen bed. Had asked property for a shower cubicle (not a shower over bath) - twice reassured that we had one - arrived to shower over bath. Was in town for surgery & concerned about falls risk in my post-operative condition

The location, the beach views.

We had requested and been advised we were booked into an updated room. Unfortunately the room we were in had not been updated in some time, the sofa upholstery was very worn, the fabric had split all down one side and the seat on the left hand side was sunken in. The table and chairs were plastic patio style furniture that had obviously been exposed to the weather. The room cleanliness level was adequate although the dishes weren’t clean. Overall the room looked worn and tired.

Superb location on The Strand and near shops (including Coles and a Chemist )and restaurants and short walk to ferry for Magnetic Island. I was given a room with balcony overlooking beach and promenade and partly overlooking the hotel's pool on the first floor. My initial thought was that it would be noisy but I was very surprised at how quiet it was inside the room. As I stayed over the weekend, there was a performance at a private function that continued during late at night but even that did not disturb my sleep. The view from the balcony on a balmy Townsville night was the best! Whilst the decor of the rooms is a little outdated, the hotel was very well equipped with all the amenities to help make it a very pleasant stay. There is a nice kitchenette with a microwave, a bath tub and the bed was comfy enough. Highly recommended and very good value.

We enjoyed layout of room. Room was good size and was comfortably dark for sleeping Having single bed (along with Queen bed) enabled us to put our suitcase & belongings on it using things at good height. Air conditioning worked well. Our view from our balcony was spectacular. Aquarius on the Beach 's location is so convenient- we were able to walk to restaurants, cafes, bars & the esplanade. Car parking for us was always available. Staff were friendly & helpful.

While the bathroom is dated, it was clean. Unfortunately there isn't great water pressure when showering & hot water could've been hotter. Older guests would have to be careful stepping into bathtub to take a shower. Queen bed mattress needs replacing- there's a dip in middle of it!

The Aquarius is in a perfect location right on the Strand so close to Restaurants, Cafe's and everything you could need. The hotel itself is an older style but very comfortable and convenient with friendly staff. Parking was'nt a problem and we really enjoyed our stay, We managed to secure a great price with an amazing view. Would highly recommend if staying in Townsville.

There was street noise, but I bought ear plugs so it was'nt a problem for me, but your right there in the main area so its to be expected.

Nice room, equipped with everything we needed. Location is very good but - see negatives. From inside the hotel, there was no noise. Nice balcony to spend the evenings. Restaurants nearby. The pool is spacious and inviting.

Some weirdos seem to have fun speeding on the road in front in the night. Woke up several times. Why is there no police if it happens every night, at about the same time? Besides: I don't know if this is the fault of the hotel or Booking.com- there is no safe available.

We were on our honeymoon. We were right on the beach. The bed was a large mattress not 2 together. Great water pressure. Clean n tidy. Close to night life n a variety of places to eat. The beach/strand was clean. A lot to do within walking distance. U could c castle hill from the hall.

Didn’t like the door between the 2 apartments b/c we could hear my in-laws. The staff member on desk wasn’t as friendly or as helpful as another staff member that I heard checking in another couple. The view from the room was looking over the beach n boats/ yacht. Would go back again.

We loved the location, it is so close to the water & many restaurants but the main reason we stay at the Aquarius is because each room has a balcony with a water view. We always have a good night’s sleep because the beds are so comfortable.

Whilst the staff are not rude in anyway, we just found they were not overly friendly, which we feel creates an uninviting atmosphere in the foyer.
