Great hostel with great facilities. Good and easy laundry service, easy check in, private car park just around the corner, the guy at the reception gave us lots of tips about what to see and where to go. Adelaide central market was great and within 5 mins walk from the hostel. The room was good, clean. Shower was good. Free pancakes in the morning or breakfast for $12 wes available from 7am which was great and made it easier for us travelling with young children. We got food delivered for dinner through uber eats.

Everything was great

We had a spacious double en suite room with a desk and coffee making facilities, so that was a big plus. Location is great for everything in the city. Well-equipped communal kitchen.

Luggage storage room was very full and chaotic, with a lot of old and broken things taking up valuable storage space.

November 2023

Spacious rooms, plenty of showers/toilets to go around, large kitchen with plenty of storage space (not too hard to get your stuff in the fridge), and a nice variety of common space to hang out in. Overall, a very livable hostel. I slept very well the entire week I stayed.

The YHA has a reputation for being anti-social. I wouldn't say that is the case, but the "organized" events like a BBQ and quiz night were extremely lackluster. It's a no BYO venue : ( And the guests tend to just stack up "clean" dishes next to the sink, which invariably get dirty when you are trying to cook or wash your own dishes.

We stayed in a private room with an ensuite bathroom. The location is good which is quite convenient and the kitchen facility easy to access. The reception staff were friendly.

Overall the stay was ok, however one of the cleaning staff have cleared our ensuite bathroom without being instructed. After we returned from our day trip found our tooth brush, tooth paste, a bathing soap and some undergarments missing which were ther run the bathroom. Not sure why these were disposed or take away, upon letting know the reception we were provided with complementary tooth brush and paste however the incident wasn't a good experience. For the rest of the stay it was convenient.

I like the best is the location of YHA, exactly near the center of downtown, easy access to all interesting places, 3 blocks to central market, several meters away to Rundall Mall, etc. The hotel staffs are super nice, especially Will at the front desk. Sometimes Will cook free sausages for us, as well as host on some games and group activities. Facilities are super clean, and beddings are good to sleep. I would definitely book YHA Central Adelaide next time.

I don't like some tenants who are not very responsible abusing the kitchen. They used the pots and folks belongs to the Hotstel kitchen, but when they used up, they never clean. It is the hotel staffs work at 11pm, cleaning them one by one. I think YHA was too good to tenants. Also you need to keey an eye on some small things, like, I lost one mug cup and a bag of tea in the quiet study room, that I forgot to bring back to my dorm during one night.

I stayed for a night, you’ve got everything you need for budget accomodation, if you don’t mind sharing. The common area was pretty chilled out. I didn’t use the kitchen or anything so I can’t comment on that. Great location in the heart of Adelaide and the staff seemed friendly in my short stay.

Wasn’t expecting to have to make my own bed, can be awkward in a dorm situation when you’re trying not to wake people up etc. Same goes for the fact that there is no power point on each person’s bed, it’s in the locker.. honestly it is common sense just to have one, once again especially if you’re trying to be respectful of others in the room. Not wake everyone up all through the night etc. I can’t really forgive this lack of something so necessary. Also I had to ask a for my towel when I checked in, wouldn’t you just be given it automatically? Common sense again. Didn’t like that my room stank of weed when I went back up there at 10pm. Guess you can’t choose your roommates. Everything else was fine.

The property has a very spacious kitchen which is a great bonus compared to most hostels, even during busy periods there was enough space. Bathrooms were regularly cleaned and maintained throughout the day. Each bed has its own small reading light which is great, it’s a shame this also doesn’t come with a power socket. There are several TV rooms dotted around on each floor which is a great feature if you need a quiet space to relax or get some work done.

Some of the guests were 65+ which felt slightly inappropriate for a YHA property. Bathrooms were functional but outdated. You are given two sockets each which is great, but they are inside your locker and nowhere near the bed which is frustrating.

The staff were excellent, nothing was ever a problem and they were all very friendly. Trivia night was a lot of fun and it really helped the guests to mingle a little. The lounge area was set out perfect for gathering without intruding on others privacy or quiet time. The location was handy to everything, even walking distance to the footy stadium.

Some of the guests didn’t follow basic courtesy rules as far as leaving the kitchen area tidy for the next person. I understand staff clean but the shouldn’t have to wash other people’s pots and dishes.

I arrived in the early morning, and the hostel would let you in and use all the facilities. Many common area and Fully equipped kitchen. You can deposit your baggage in the hostel for free. All the staffs are so nice and kind. The people I met in my room are also friendly. Although it's a shared shower and toilet but it's clean though. There is only one plugin in the cabinet so just the extesion cord. And you could bring some hangers as well.

The cabinet in the room is not locked only if you bring your own lock.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in in terms of facilities/set up. Has all the little things you wish for in a hostel - excellent large kitchen divided into little bays. Huge social area with pool, table football and table tennis. 2 separate tv rooms for quieter relaxing. We stayed in a family room, had a double bed and 2 bunks, really spacious room. The bathrooms were great - very clean, each shower cubicle had a dry changing area with a shower door through to the shower (much nicer than a grotty curtain / cramped room where everything gets wet that most places seem to have!)

It said there were free pancakes but they don’t do this anymore :( you can pay $12 for a continental breakfast which didn’t seem a very good deal. Also said there were ovens so we bought food to oven cook but actually there are no ovens. Didn’t seem many organised events which can make it harder to meet people.
