The King Spa Suite was absolutely gorgeous, spacious and comfortable. Staying in a 160 year old heritage pub might not be everyone's cup of tea but we absolutely love it. Unlike many country towns, Bendigo is not a sleepy place - there's always something going on and The Shamrock is right in the heart of the night life.
Built before electricity was thought of as a public utility, there's a lot of places the building's heritage listing doesn't allow power points to be fitted. Yes, there are a couple of power points in the rooms but they're not in convenient spots for charging phones and laptops. If you're enjoying the historic vibe so much that you don't mind charging your devices on the floor, that's OK - either that or pack an extension cord.

the location was great, very convenient to get to the wedding we were invited to, plus shops and galleries etc. The room was on the smaller side, as staying four nights, could have used a little more room. But all the amenities in the room were great. The breakfast was pretty good and reasonably priced.
It was difficult to get a late lunch or even a bite to eat out side of traditional eating times (between 4 and 5pm and after 8pm we had difficulty finding something to eat). The parking was a little inconvenient.

The Hotel Shamrock is an incredible historic building right in the centre of town. Princess Di stayed here when she visited Bendigo in the 80’s! We were upgraded to the Family Suite and it was totally amazing. Two bedrooms, high spec bathroom, large lounge - comfortable and chic and all within walking distance of EVERYTHING we wanted to do in Bendigo. Perfect accom! The highlight would have to be the staff. Every single person we encountered that worked at the Shamrock - from the reception staff who spoke to me over the phone before my visit, to Jake in the gaming room who checked us in on late arrival Fri night, to the bar staff who chatted as we left each day - EVERYONE was kind, accomodating, interested - just plain lovely! Thank you to all the staff at the Hotel Shamrock for making our stay so comfortable and pleasant. You’re all amazing!
We liked everything.

The rooms were comfortable. I particularly liked the fact that one of the rooms had an accessible bathroom if it was needed as my friend is experiencing some mobility issues. I also found the availability of the lift was very attractive, again in relation to accessibility.
I love the Hotel generally but was disappointed that the foyer and booking area was a little tired. It is such a beautiful building and has such potential. Despite this I would come again.

Loved the history of of the location and nice and close to shops and eateries. Lovely to have a big park across the road too. Nice comfy beds. Great to have a fridge in the room and lots of space. Nice smelling free bathroom products too.
Needing to park in the carpark around the corner meant and unexpected walk with a heavy suitcase... and difficult to get it up the first few steps (over the mosaic entry) by myself. After that, there's a lift so it's all good. Took a wee while for someone to come to the check in reception (not sure if doorbell buzzer was working?).

Quirky hotel, I loved it. The Victorian architecture throughout the hotel is amazing, Our group of 25 all stayed here. No two rooms are the same, each one has its own distinct layout. Want a draw to put your clothes, why not have a wall of 48 draws? How about a Tiny room out the back with a tiny window that opens into a huge private balcony larger than the room. Corner rooms were very large and stately.

Absolutely stunning building, inside and out. It must be a never-ending battle to keep the building in such good condition, and they've done an amazing job for the age. The rooms are gigantic, and I could have comfortably slept in the walk-in robe - a beautifully preserved window into travel during a different period! The location is as good as it gets. My only complaint was that the bed was so comfortable that I slept in for the first time in years! Seriously, you need to stay here.

Nice size room with aircon and plenty of space. loved the history and the original features of this historical building. Meals were plenty and alot on offer - the lift to 3rd floor was cute. Sitting outside on balcony was gorgeous and very relaxing. The location was great. Parking was in next block in public level parking and was told if i don't take my car out at all it will be free of charge if i exit on Saturday which i did.
upon checking in the staff member said - we dont have you here - she asked my name and spent time scrolling thru on the computer - this made me uneasy - thankgoodness i had the confirmation on my phone to show her. Reception closed before 5.30pm so hunted around for bar staff to answer my questions. Couldn't work out which entry door to check in as there is a door to public bar, door to restaurant and the correct door is around the other side on the other street. The public toilet near restaurant was very hot as lights were all on and being a hot day, it was like a sauna in the ladies. It was difficult to find our room as at top of stairs there is no ROOM NUMBER INDICATOR so we walked up and down the hallway looking for our room.

The staff were awesome and friendly. Bar staff made my mother and I a delicious whiskey sour cocktail. I loved the historic building and hearing that it is apparently haunted on the 4th floor. Guests arent able to stay up there. One day might have to come back for a paranormal tour. We had a comedy show to see at Ullumbarra Theatre which was walking distance.
The mattress on the bed was a bit uncomfortable (but I might have high standards when it comes to mattresses)

The location and the period decor.
I chose the hotel in part because it had parking. It turned out that it was around the block in a multi level commercial carpark. We found it by chance as we came into the carpark and found a number of forces designated for the hotel. I am ok with that but would have preferred to know that was where to park. There may have been dome short term parking near the entrance but we didn’t realise it would have been a good idea to check in and leave our bags before parking.
