The staff at Mata Rocks are great, really friendly and helpful always, especially Harry and Javier. The bar/restaurant is a nice gathering spot after a day of adventure getting a few locals as well as hotel guests. Good food and accommodating with special requests. Lively but not crazy.

Not the fault of Mata Rocks but good to know when booking-- Belize is really windy, and having never been, we didn't know that. Had we known, I wouldn't have paid extra for a room with a balcony which was impossible to use due to wind. Also the property next door is not currently in use and has let a lot of seaweed and garbage build up which unfortunately was on full view from our room, #10.

We stayed at the hotel in the off season and there were not many people staying, so the hotel restaurant was not open for the first night of our stay. However, the hotel helped us find a small restaurant close by that served delicious jerk chicken. The second day of our stay the restaurant opened. The hotel staff were very friendly and dealt with our concerns promptly. For example we wanted a mini fridge, so they brought one in. Our security box was locked, so they opened it. San Pedro has become very noisy because of the hundreds of golf carts that drive around it. I appreciated that Mata Rocks was located further out from central San Pedro and was quiet. A huge bonus for me is the free bicycles that Mata Rocks allows its guests to borrow.

Swimming is off a dock as the water close to shore has a lot of seaweed. The hotel pool is seawater and is not big enough to swim in. But, it is great for having a dip and cool off.

The resort was great. It's is a nice intimate place where you can actually get to know your neighbors. The staff all worked really hard to make you feel welcome. They picked us up from the boat shuttle which was a great surprise and we were greeted with a welcome drink. They also helped us a rent a golf cart (which is a must). The views are pretty. Note there is not an area to swim but the hotel is in a great location. Also there is a nice bar at the hotel where we had some of the best salsa and chips. The hotel also offers bikes, board games and has a pickle bar court.

Be careful of just a few ants in the bathroom.

The staff was very accommodating, Anita in the office is very efficient and friendly and helping you book taxis and has great information on the area. Javier in the bar was also very friendly and fun and accommodating. all the staff we encountered were happy to help and super friendly.

The website says there’s an Italian restaurant on site and there isn’t one anymore. They do offer a light menu in the bar and the food was great.

Loved the location, couple min drive to dowtown. Anita was amazing helping us with arranging snorkel trips and fishing trip. John was there to answer any questions we had. And Bartender sorry don't know how to spell your name was always helpful and made awesome drinks. Food was great. The 4 days we stayed at the hotel the staff made us feel like we were part of their family😁 welcoming, sweet and so helpful. Can not wait to go there again. We had amazing stay.

Loved the staff! They knew us by name and set up activities for us! plus, if they weren’t open serving food yet, there was great places to eat within walking distance. Also, without us setting anything up, the picked us up at the airport and had a cold drink waiting for us at check in!! All complimentary. What service right from the start!

the bathroom door came off it’s tracks the first day we were there, making us have to leave it open to use the facilities. Also, the air conditioner did not work too well and it was pretty hot out.

Everyone who works there is a gem. They were super friendly and helpful - Hari made sure we got on a boat tour last minute and everyone from the bar staff to cleaners to front desk were so lovely. The rooms are modern, cool, and clean and the complementary breakfast was excellent. Fresh beach towels whenever you needed them. They also had cornhole and pickleball on the property which was fun. Location is great, not in the middle of things but a 7-10 min golf cart ride. We’d stay again!

The smell of seaweed is fairly strong as it dries in he sun but that’s not unique to Mata Rocks - we found that with the fan and AC going and putting a towel against the front door we blocked most of the smell out.

Great small place that other hotels had guests come by our neat beach side bar.We went to Victoria house a few times, which has a neat bar on the beach and excellent white table cloth dinners. We also love Blue Water Grill for dinner, but that is a romantic 25 minute walk to town on beach. Don't miss coffee shop called The Baker.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean and comfortable. The boutique size and location were great for interacting with other guests. Aesthetically, the hotel was beautiful. We would definitely come back again.

We had no internet service in our room the entire stay. We were told a repair person was coming to fix it 2-3 days in a row and then when that didn't happen, we were told we would receive a credit of some sort on our bill. Which we did not receive. Not having internet in our room to check and respond to emails, arrange our online covid tests, etc. was a major inconvenience for us.

We had an exceptional time at Mata Rocks. One of the best features was the staff itself. Rarely have we witnessed such a genuinely friendly, funny and lovely staff. We hope the owners pay them well and know that they have there. The Room was the perfect size, nicely equipped and very clean. From the entrance, through the doors to the seaside the hotel looks inviting and full of flair.

Although the room was lovely, we had the one upstairs in the corner which didn't provide the best WiFi Signal.
