We really enjoyed our stay here. Darlene was a magnificent hostess, cooking us egg for breakfast each morning. There was also tea and coffee, fruit juice, and scones. We felt really looked after! We had the room upstairs which had a view of the mainland. The room had a kettle, tea and coffee, and some biscuits and chocolate. (On the very first evening, a black squirrel appeared on the balcony!) Darlene was very proud of her garden and took the time to show us around. A variety of birds appeared by the windows, including a hummingbird, which I'd never seen before! The house is seven or eight minutes walk from a bus stop up on the main road. We also walked to a Pipers restaurant, which had a nice selection of food and drink, a couple of times. The house is pleasantly 'quirky' and that made for a lovely and memorable stay! The bus ride into Nanaimo was easy enough, as was the drive by car. (We like to use public transport wherever possible). We travelled into Nanaimo for a whale watching trip. If we travel to Vancouver Island, we would certainly stay at Island View!

Perhaps a little more cupboard storage in our room?

When we arrived our host Darleen was working in the garden. She took us in and showed us our bedroom. We had the one with 2 comfortable single beds and a connecting badroom, all though divided through a thick curtain, we felt enough privacy. We sat in the amazing garden and saw Lillies and hummingbirds. After dinner we went to the beach, which is 300 meters from the B&B and saw Bald Eagles, otters and a stunning sunset. Darleen is a older lady, i hope that is okay with you Darleen? She is running the whole B&B by herself and is serving breakfast with fresh fruit, lots of coffee and lovely croissant with scrambled eggs.

Nothing at all. I broke one of Darleens her swan gave her Stroopwafels in return 😃

Welcoming host with a lovely garden! Breakfast was a bulked-up continental - additonal homemade berry scones and a boiled egg. Kettle and snacks provided in the room. Adjoining bathroom was clean and convinient.

Share the twin room with someone you don't mind living in close quarters with! The two beds were comfy but close to eachother. You must provide clear instructions on your arrival for the host - I had trouble due to loosing phone signal on Vancouver Island.

What went well? The 4 day visit from start to finish far exceeded my expectations. Darlene the owner/hostess is a wonderful person. She cooked me incredible breakfasts every morning and even sat chatting with me for a couple of hours each morning. The breakfasts were incredible and far better than eating in a restaurant. The B&B was very comfortable and made me feel right a home. Definitely the place to stay in Nanaimo, BC!!!

Everything was far beyond my expectations

Very nice location with sea views from the street and the double sea view room. A short stroll to a small rocky beach. Perfectly located for the Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay ferry from Departure Bay, which is just a 14 minute drive away. Very nice gardens. Rooms are well equipped with personal touches like soap and shampoo, tissues and complimentary chocolates. Darlene is a wonderful host- friendly, interested, caring and kind. The breakfast was wonderful with a fruit platter, hot blueberry scones and croissants with scrambled egg. Excellent value for money, especially as the price includes breakfast.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! Darlene is a marvelous host and serves a wonderful breakfast. Her garden is outstanding and the property is a short walk to the shore, where you can watch cruise ships go by and enjoy the sunsets. It's also a short drive to Neck Point and Pipers Lagoon Parks, which are both worth a visit for walks, sea life (a pod of Orcas swam by!) and swimming.

You do have to remember that this is a Guesthouse not a hotel and that you are staying in someone's house. It is extremely clean and comfortable and quiet. Darlene, the owner, is delightful and bakes the most wonderful scones for breakfast with a variety of prepared fresh fruit and eggs, The bathrooms are clean and it was lovely to have a balcony to step out on in the en suite room. The no shoes in the house rule is sensible and she does provide slippers if needed.

Nothing really.

Excellent breakfast; really tasty homemade scones and croissants. Lovely sea view and the hostess was very accommodating; particularly as we arrived early. A great night’s sleep so bed very comfy. Unexpected, but welcome touches like bathrobes and an abundance of treats.

Can’t fault it for an overnight stay before a ferry back to the mainland.

Wow! What a breakfast. So much fruit and the homemade scones, still warm from the oven. Darlene treats her guests well. Make a point to walk down to the Wellington Pump Station Park. It's only 5 minutes away and you're on the beach. And definitely walk around Darlene's 1/2 acre garden.

Other guests that didn't respect the quiet time.
