I have read in other reviews prior to booking that the location is accessible to attractions. But, I was so pleased to discover it myself that it is actually accessible to convenience stores, Chinatown & other Restaurants, Recreation Parks , Churches, and even to a bus terminal to and from airport . You just need your GPS and you won’t need to pay for a bus ride to explore the city. That is if you like walking. If I get to visit Montreal again I’ll stay here again. And everyone who works there are very pleasant and friendly.
To the management , please replace the property name on the door or inform the people booking the property that it’s not printed as Auberge du Plateau on the door it’s actually a different name. I got lost and confused because of it, had to walk back & forth at Sherbrooke St looking for it. It can be frustrating when you’re tired from your flight & don’t speak / read French. 😅

Breakfast was fantastic! They make AMAZING pancakes!! At 10:30 they stop making them. There were eggs, yogurts, fresh oranges, lots of jams, good coffee, teas. Kitchen is great and very spacious with a huge table in the middle on which all the breakfast is served. There are 2 fridges and many FREE items that people leave behind for others to use and share with. Lots of big wooden tables with lots of sitting. Few big and comfy couches near the window, which are great for working or chilling. Huge beautiful window with a view on the street, there are plants around. This common space is very cosy. I am very impressed with it. They also give you a key from the Front Door as well as for your room. So it feels like coming home. Second Floor is very cute and cozy too with a beautiful decor.
Showers I felt could be a bit nicer. They were just ok.

The building is beautiful, encompassing the charm of old Montreal buildings. It is very clean and spacious as well. My room was perfect (private room with shared bathroom). It was clean, had many storage options and hooks, a full body mirror, and a private sink. The shared bathroom was also very clean and you would only share with a few rooms so there was not too much traffic. The breakfast included in the stay was also delicious and you have access to a spacious kitchen if you would like to cook. Finally, check-in was easy and flexible.
Nothing. Just note there is no elevator and narrow stairs to go up.

We stayed in an individual room (without washroom), we were not expecting much and were really nicely surprised. The room is really cozy and clean, bed is comfortable, there is a sink in the room so that's also a +. And we got a private patio! Breakfast was also very good (homemade pancakes, fruits, coffee etc... much better quality than most hostels in Canada). Washrooms were very clean at all times. Location is also pretty good, not too far from the Sherbrook metro station. Would definitely recommend.
I think the price is a bit high given that it's a hostel and you have to share the washrooms, but that's about it.

The whole experience at the hotel was amazing. The staff was super attentive and friendly and gave me lots of tips on what to do in Montreal. The location of the hostel is simply FABULOUS. Close to the subway, parks and the nicest neighborhoods to visit. The accommodations are good and comfortable and all the bed linen is delivered directly to the guest, meaning it is guaranteed to be clean. When I return to Montreal, I won't even think about staying anywhere else. Everything 10 out of 10.
Breakfast is not the best of the world. Pretty much OK, not bad nor marvelous.

Private room with split bathroom was nice and clean, quiet, and charming. The room we stayed in had a separate entrance from the main hostel (was in the building behind). Excellent location to explore both Downtown and the Plateau area & walk towards Mile End. Lots of cafe's and restaurants very nearby. Staff were lovely. The roof deck is great, but is a separate entity and it seemed like on weekends they had regular private events up there - they post details about this in advance though. We found street parking ~5min walk away.

I love this hostel's location and great value. The facilities are very clean and the staff is very courteous and professional. I would like to make a special mention to Charles, Jimmy, Simon, Nicolas, Louise, and Mathieu. My apologies to other staff members not mentioned.
I would have liked a slightly more comfortable bed, but then again, the stay is more about value than luxury. One pet peeve for me is the closing off of the common area on the main floor from 11:00 PM. For late snacks or for just "chilling" outside of one's shared dorm room, there are no options than one or two corridor seats or outdoors, which is less than an option in the depths of winter. For future guests, make sure you have your snacks and water bottles handy because the only refrigerators available are two shared appliances...in the common area. So, be prepared. Orher than that, the Auberge du Plateau is an excellent place to stay for travellers on a budget, wishing to be in the centre of Montreal's coolest dustricts and travel destinations.

This was my third time staying in a hostel, and Auberge was the best among them! (1) Location - 5-7 min approx. to the metro station that brought me everywhere without correspondance; 10-12 min approx to the bus stop of bus 747 that brings you to the airport and back; 10 min. on a bus to the Musee de Beaux Arts with a bus stop right near the Auberge. Perfect! (2) Room {I had private room with a private bathroom}. It was initially cold, but after I asked everything was fixed and I was warm (Montreal in March is coooold!). Nice shower, comfortable bed with numerous pillows and warm blanket. Table to work with a laptop, good lighting to tailor to your needs, mirrors, a lot of storage space for different kinds of things. I could open the window and let in some fresh air, too. (3) Personnel - so nice people! I speak French and had many pleasant convesrations during breakfast and at the reception. I got a personal health-related problem, and a gentleman at the reception helped me promptly. (4) Common space is cosy! When I wanted some company, I could come and stay there. Very comfortable sofa, tables, chairs, sockets are in abundance. Kitchen was very clean. I didn't cook, but it was comfortable enough for that. Hot water, tea were available all day. Also there is space for coats and suitcases. (5) Breakfast was fine - pancakes were cooked right during breakfast. Also there are boiled eggs, bread, butter, oranges, coffee (didn't try myself). Overall, I was more than satisfied and it was like a good 3-star hotel, but with people around for company and less official help from the personnel. Thanks a lot!
It was a little noisy because of pipes in my room - I'm a light sleaper. No great view from my room, but it didn't matter for me. Overall, nothing to complain from my side :)

Good location, a 5-6 minute walk to Sherbrooke Metro and 15 minute walk (1km) from Berri-UQAM which is a major transportation hub. The staff were super helpful and friendly (and some of the girls were quite hot), and went above and beyond, for example letting me use their printer. The rooms were clean and quiet. The breakfast was excellent, I especially liked the pancakes! There is a lounge area downstairs where you can work or meet fellow travelers, it can be quite social.
Building is a bit old, but clean. Kitchen closes a bit early, lounge closes at 11PM (although that is understandable since the staff needs to sleep as well).

Perhaps the best feature of the hostel is its location. It is, to paraphrase Jimmy, one of the more experienced staff members, quite literally less than 10 minutes' walking distance to a bunch of cool and interesting places and events--north, south, east, and west. I cannot speak of rooms per se as I booked a dormitory bed, but for what it was, my experience was very good. Breakfast is included, which is another PLUS when your breakfast options are limited to fast food restaurants nearby. The only thing I would recommend is to ensure you have a sweater or light jacket in the non-summer months as the common area occasionally gets drafty for lack of an enclosed vestibule. Aside from that, Auberge du Plateau is an EXCELLENT value for any traveler, be they for pleasure, business, or foreign student on a budget.
What is there not to like? In all honesty, I am not a big fan of the common area/kitchen being closd from 23h00, but nothing stops guests from venturing outside and grabbing a snack or a drink (or two, or three...). P.S. Alcohol is tolerated but one must behave appropriately. In other words, nobody will object to a bottle of wine or a few beer cans but no partying or bad behaviour will be tolerated and may result in an ejection. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone as hostels usually have common areas and bedrooms. In a traditional hotel with single rooms, one has the privacy to pretty much do as they please provided nothing gets trashed nor neighbours get bothered or disturbed,
