Feurotor (spelling?) from Brazil who worked at the front desk was wonderful and incredibly helpful with everything! The rest of the staff was extremely friendly and willing to accommodate all our requests, as well. The server at breakfast was very attentive and remembered our orders from previous days. The breakfast area was charming with seating choices both inside and outside. The location was perfect, close to many of the interesting attractions. We also enjoyed meeting other guests each night during the hotel's wine social. It was a great way to start our trip in Chile!

The shower had insufficient water pressure and heat. But this was a minor inconvenience for such a unique location.

A gem of a hotel in Santiago city! Beautifully decorated in the vintage style of the original house when it was built. Staff extremely friendly and accommodating, ready to help with enquiries in different languages. Loved the coffee/tea bar available at all hours, and sunset wine hour was an added bonus, great to enjoy a Chilean wine and chat with other guests in the lounge area. Breakfast room very cosy, and staff eager to please. Hotel was just a short walk from the Funicular to San Cristobal Hill with plenty of restaurants and Patio Bellavista close by.

The hotel was in a good location for eateries and the funicular, but it was a little far from the city centre, especially at night. The neighbourhood felt a bit unsafe, although we did see police and security patrolling regularly.

Exceptional hotel in a lovely, quiet area of the city. Views of the hills and trees all around. Short walk to great restaurants, cafes and bars. Staff are super friendly and helpful, I felt really welcomed here. They organised all my airport transfers easily and advised on things I could do on my trip . The hotel is absolutely beautiful inside with comfortable communal areas and balcony. Breakfast was really good with the option of hot food as well as more traditional toast, fruits etc. Splendid outdoor patio for warm evenings...☀️ My room was perfect with very comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. I really loved the service I received at this hotel, highly recommended as a safe, green base to explore the city.

I nearly didn’t book this place, actually cancelled and rebooked twice as I just wasn’t sure. So pleased I took the chance as this hotel has atmosphere like no other. The antiques throughout give it such a homely decadent feel. The staff truely make you feel welcome, they are so helpful and happy with most speaking really good English. The nightly wine tasting was a total treat, very good wines, we enjoyed ours from the balcony which over looks the plaza providing fascinating people watching and amazing sunsets. We felt safe staying here, it was a short walk to the cable cars, city bike tours, metro and is surrounded by great restaurants/bars. Annette Australia

What a gem. The atmosphere and location of the hotel were fantastic. I was excited to receive an upgrade to a room on the top floor. And then a little less excited when there was no elevator. On arrival, there was someone to help getting my bags up, but on departure there was no help for getting them down. If you have any doubt about where to stay in Santiago, please add this to your list. It is a unique experience. On a vibey safe neighbourhood. Although the area has tons of restaurants and bars, the rooms are quiet. I had a back room with a view of snow in the Andes. Just beautiful. Lovely rooms and bathrooms with plenty of hot water. Netflix option on the telly so you can sign in with your own account. A good breakfast is included but they really are only ready from a while after 7.30 am, which is not ideal if you are needing to get out earlier. Good wifi available. And free wine hour from 5pm to 6pm every evening. The minor issues were no reason not to go back or to not recommend it to others. Enjoy your stay there!

The location in the bohemian neighborhood was fabulous for bars & restaurants. It was also within one block of the funicular at the zoological park. Breakfast was continental; however, we also could request omelets and other items. The dining area included a wonderful shaded patio. The afternoon wine hour was hosted in the 2nd floor library which included books on travel in Chile. The wine hour was also a great time for visiting with other guests and getting tips for sights to see and modes of transportation.

This wonderful hotel did not include an elevator; however, the staff transported the luggage up and down the stairs.

Great location for my trip , lovely room, excellent staff….enjoyed the breakfast and interaction with staff and other guests, and the afternoon wine. I appreciated that the bathroom had adequate lighting - I often have trouble with that! The comfortable upstairs room with tea and coffee and afternoon wine was a lovely place to hang out on the rainy days and the balcony was nice on the sunny days (I got all weather conditions that week!) The security procedures were different for me but appreciated in an area where that is a concern especially traveling on my own. Easy walk to touristy things and lots of restaurants and bars, etc. Patio Bella Vista was an easy walk - I spent a lot of time there since I had friends playing live music there that week. I really enjoyed my week at Castillo Rojo.

For my trip, there wasn’t a thing I didn’t like!

This is a comfortable hotel in a beautiful old palacio. The breakfast was perfect: inside or outside on the garden terrace, with wide variety of options for freshly prepared eggs (I had avocado toast with poached eggs every morning!), fruits, yoghurt, juices, coffees. My room (which I booked last minute at 50% discount) was small but sufficient and comfortable. In relation to the discount price absolutely value for money. Apart from the rooms the whole building is beautiful so a nice place to stay.

If I would have gotten this specific room at the regular price of USD 200 per night I would have been disappointed. Moreover, early check in was only possible against another USD 50 for a couple of hours. This is probably standard practice but at another hotel I could enter early free of charge. I decided not to do it because I wanted to just drop my luggage and explore the city.

Amazing hotel in a lovely neighbourhood. The staff is phenomenally friendly and professional, they offer a daily wine hour, the building is beautiful and historic, the breakfast is tasty, and the rooms are comfortable.

The hotel isn't going to be suitable for all types of travellers. While it was perfect for me and my parents, as a historic building, it has no lift/elevator and does not have certain amenities that a modern, large, boring hotel building might have.

In a relatively safe area of Santiago and secure with 24 hour concierge and big gates! Lovely old property and super rooms. Great wine hour at 17.00 when you get to chat to other guests. Reception were really helpful with restaurant tips and walking areas.

Nothing to do with the property but we didn’t feel safe in Santiago from the moment we arrived. The best thing we did was take Ubers everywhere as you can be sure they will be safe and not rip you off. Tip - get a guide for waking about and don’t be wandering about after dark with no plan to get back.
