It’s beautiful, even more beautiful that the pictures, also all 3 nights we were there it was showering and we could not see the volcano at all. The room is well equipped.

The restaurant was disappointing, especially during lunch, as it was clearly understaffed. Food arrived late, and when I ordered mac and cheese for our child, it was particularly frustrating. After such a long wait, they served a microwaved, pre-cooked dish. It was extremely hot so we had to blow it for another 10 min so be eatable for a child, and the cheese separating and dripping with oil due to overheating. The hotel’s trail was under reconstruction, which was unfortunate as we couldn’t use it. Additionally, the prices for food and massages were noticeably high.

Fantastic views of the volcano and comfy beds and loved the rocking chairs on the balcony which overlooked the gardens that were teaming with hummingbirds. The pools were lovely and the bar a real social hub after 4pm each day. You'll need a car unless you're going to only go out on hotel organised trips - this shouldn't detract from booking this amazing hotel!! It's 5 mins drive from Mistico Bridges (just to give you an idea of how far out of La Fortuna it is). Paved winding roads from the airport - take a car as very easily drivable. Loved it and would stay again.

There really isn't a great option for vegetarians in the restaurant, other than at breakfast. We struggled in the evenings and chose to eat out (we had a hire car) and have a late lunch rather than evening meal at the hotel.

- First and foremost, the staff were a breath of fresh air and very friendly faces each and every day :) We had great waiters for breakfast and dinner, mostly a a few shout outs to Derek and Ronaldo! Great guys and really funny, as well as being professional too. - The pool area was a nice spot to spend a day to chill out and enjoy some sunshine. We made sure to make the most of the daily happy hours from 4-5pm and the cocktails were tasty. Having a cool pool, plus a warm pool, was a good change-up as well. - Best view of the Arenal volcano we had from our room! This includes actually doing the 1968 trail where we walked around it. Be aware, one day it’s a clear, wonderful view and the next day, you’ll wake up to complete cloud cover and it’s vanished haha. - We spotted a Coati on our patio upon our arrival which was a very dry warm welcome from a local. Throughout the days we also watched a handful of Hummingbirds hovering around. We loved being back in the rainforest after a few days in mountains.

- It’s what we wanted, being a little away from La Fortuna and the hustle and bustle. It was only a 10min drive to the 1968 trail of the volcano and to visit the main hot springs locations. Lastly, a local soda place was great to eat which we visited twice. - Unfortunately, the property’s main walking trail was closed due to maintenance and extra works on building bridges when we were there. On one rainy day we had where we stayed on-site, this would’ve been nice to stroll through to see flora and fauna.

Lost Iguana is in an incredible location in the jungle and overlooking Mount Arenal. You can hear the wildlife all around you and it has many walks within the grounds (Mistico Park is just next door where they charge $25 for entry). Staff are super friendly, pool was great and also breakfast was pretty good too.

As some of the other reviews commented it is a bit of a drive to La Fortuna, I had planned to go there one night but in the end stayed in the resort each night which got a little tiring on the third and last night (however the overall location is incredible).

We didn't really know what to expect from this hotel and we were a bit nervous if it is going to be good. The hotel was incredible! Beautiful... great surroundings and our view was magnificent. The rooms were very good, clean and big. The staff was super nice and the whole hotel was amazing.

The breakfast was not really good... but it was pretty much the breakfast standard we experienced in every other hotel in Costa Rica. In Europe we expect a lot more variety at a breakfast so it was a bit disappointing.. but as I wrote... this was the standard in Costa rica so I guess it was ok.

Fabulous small resort in the rainforest by Lake Arenal. 30 mins easy drive to the busy town of La Fortuna. Amazing views of Arenal volcano from our room. We had a ground floor room and hummingbirds would visit the beautiful gardens right by our balcony. Open air restaurant was a wonderful setting however the menu is limited and offers the same for lunch and dinner - this got a bit boring after a 2 nights, we drove to town on our last night for variety. Great pools (one cold, one warm) with swim up bar and lounge area. Good family hotel, lots to see and do right nearby and the hotel can arrange tours - we also saw Tucans, frogs and coutis just in the hotel grounds :-)

For the price, we expected a better breakfast selection. Rooms could benefit from hooks on balcony for pool towels and wet swimwear. Only 2 pool towels provided for a family of four.

The room was clean and spacious, with all key comforts, and an amazing view. Staff always very kind. The SPA is so beautiful, an experience definitely to try. The restaurant is good and surrounded by the jungle, like the pools and the room. Location is also quite central for key tours/ places to visit. Definitely recommended

We liked everything but be aware that the hot pool is a bit small and might be crowded. The curtains in the room let some light through and note that since it’s in the middle of the jungle, you can hear a lot of natural sounds from animals to rain on the vegetation. It’s lovely but it might get loud. Regardless, we would go back anytime.

Beautiful hotel, with the most stunning views across to volcano arenal. Felt incredibly special to stay there - and the staff were really really lovely. Food was great at the restaurant (we had a lunch and a dinner there - both excellent). Also beautiful gardens with frogs and animals and hummingbirds. Idyllic.

Unfortunately the walls and floors are quite thin, so you might hear your neighbours. It didn’t matter too much to us as everyone (including ourselves) seems to go to bed very early!

We chose this hotel based on its nice reviews and in particular because of the views of Arenal Volcano from the room category that we booked. This property did not disappoint. The view of Volcan Arenal from room 24 was amazing but we also enjoyed the tranquility. The setting of the property is beautiful and we saw lots of hummingbirds and coatis on property. All staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, in particular at the restaurant where we enjoyed a nice complimentary breakfast buffet every morning. We also had two dinners there, both of which were great. We will plan on staying at this property again on a future visit and wished we had more than just 3 nights.

Everything was great. The wifi was a bit slow but it was always working and therefore was fine. The room was large and the only thing I can recommend is perhaps a chair or a bench/couch which would be nice to lounge in, sit down to put shoes on, etc., especially for a kid, but this is not anything that will prevent us from returning to the Lost Iguana Resort.

This place exceeded our expectations. The staff was incredible, the food was delicious, and they had great facilities (bar/pool) - The heated pool was a really nice touch! It came with a free breakfast every morning, and a lot of the time we stayed for dinner due to the amazing local cuisine. It had local wildlife trails and a beautiful view of the volcano from every room. It was the perfect spot to relax after days filled out activities. Loved our stay!

It was a little bit outside of La Fortuna, but honestly the town itself was not our favourite so we were glad to be a little bit removed!
