Just spent two lovely nights at Mirador at Arenal. The hotel was very cute, clean and comfortable. We had a lovely bungalow (number 3) with a beautiful view of gardens and the mountain. However, as we are visiting in rainy season, we didn’t see a full view of the volcano. The private patio was amazing for bird watching. The beds were comfortable and the room had a small fridge and coffee maker. The pool area was great and the restaurant at the hotel was excellent. There is both a pool and a thermal pool, which was wonderful after a day of touring. The breakfast was very good and filling. The service was always friendly and helpful, and while we speak Spanish, English was spoken fluently by all.

Everything was great!

Our stay at Miradas was exceptional. Even before we travelled, Ileana supported us extensively with questions asked to the hotel via this website. She also reached out proactively to support with the reservation of tours we wanted to join during our stay in La Fortuna, and organising transport where needed. It was lovely to meet her when we arrived; her service was so personal and welcoming and we really appreciated it. The other staff was very friendly too, adding to a great experience. The hotel itself is stunning - views from the rooms (each with their own terrace) and from the on-site hot springs (with pool bar) are directly onto the Arenal volcano and amazing nature. You are surrounded by wildlife, including a host of gorgeous tropical birds - we saw toucans fly by at breakfast! As mentioned, the staff can help organise transport where needed. Uber also runs in La Fortuna, which we used various times for a quick drive into the centre, where you have access to lots of bars, restaurants and shops. It's also not far to get an Uber or taxi to the waterfall. The tours recommended by Miradas were great - for example, they helped us join a sloth tour with EcoGarden, a nature volcano walk, and a coffee/chocolate tasting tour. They clearly know which companies offer the best and most authentic experiences, and we appreciated this support massively. Breakfast at Miradas is excellent - especially the local favourite gallos pinto which we loved!

No complaints!

I loved everything about this property. This is a hidden gem. The small size of the property allowed us to enjoy nature and the Arenal volcano in a quiet setting. The view of the volcano from every room, including the shower, was amazing. The animals visit the property in the early mornings. The sounds of parrots and toucans fill the air. The staff is attentive and helpful. The food is delicious and reasonably priced for the gourmet quality. The small bungalow is spacious and modern. The pools were a great place to relax.

Miradas Arenal and the rooms truly have an amazing view and it is wonderful that they have a thermal water pool. It is perfect to enjoy the benefits of the thermal water without paying for expensive entrance fees. It is quiet and I recommend trying their restaurant for dinner, it was definetly the best dinner we had in the area, also for reasonable price. The room is well equipped and spacious.

The mattress in the bed was terrible. It was too "soft", your body created a crater in it and it was really uncomfortable. It is not good for your back either. Harder mattresses should be put into the room (of course I do not know about other rooms), it was almost impossible for us to fall asleep. Besides that the room was wonderful, also clean and new.

Beautiful location had direct view of Mt Arenal Volcano. The room was decent size for a family of 4. The price was reasonable for the location. Breakfast is included but has limited choices. The problem is breakfast time is given, we picked the time 8:00 to 9:00 am and reached for breakfast at 8:40 and were told that it’s too late. We then mentioned that the front desk had provided the 1 hour time slot. Then we were served the breakfast. On the next day we made sure tor reach by 8:10 am and this time we asked for additional 2 slices of bread toast and butter and jelly to go with it and the lady only brought bread toast so we waited and requested to butter and jelly still pending and this time she only brought butter. We again waited for 5 - 7 minutes and could clearly make out that the lady was avoiding us. So this time we called her out and asked that we are still waiting for jelly and then she got it. In short breakfast is provided but it is very limited and if you ask for additional stuff it is provided but with a indication that they are doing us a favor. One other thing to remember in Costa Rica we should not put the toilet paper in toilet after use but rather in the trash can provided in the washroom. We realized it the hard way as our toilet got clogged and the worst part was the poor customer service when I went to the front desk to complain about the toilet getting clogged the front desk person handed me the plunger with an explanation that there is a notice in the washroom indicating that toilet paper should not go in toilet after use but in trash. When there was no such notice in my room ( my room number was 3) I mentioned it to them but bottom line is poor customer service as I had to unclog the toilet myself.

Poor customer service as when the toilet got clogged I was handed over the plunger by the front desk to unclog it myself I stayed in room 3 and it had no notice indicating not to put used toilet paper in toilet.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were super helpful and sweet (kitchen staff/ reception, etc). The view from our room was fantastic. Breakfast included was great everyday - certainly worth it. It also has a very convenient location to downtown and all the activities.

My only wish was that there were bug screens on the windows and balcony doors. We really wanted to open the doors/ windows up to take advantage of the fresh air / listen to the rainfall but could not because bugs would immediately flood in.

Miradas was a great property for the amenities of a "resort" without the extravagance and cost of a more ostentatious property. The pool and hot spring was great for relaxing. The rooms were very quaint and very comfortable. Lots of wildlife around the area. Breakfast provided in the am was good.

The pool/bar area was a bit short staffed. Breakfast took a little bit long for families that needed to leave for tours in the morning.

We picked this place knowing it was out of town but you can get taxis for the evening no problem. We wanted the peace & quiet and you get that staying that little bit away. really nice place & the birds in the morning to wake up to the noise of the jungle was fantastic. We were however disappointed as we splashed out a little on this place on our road trip and the hotel was unfortunately under staffed & facilities therefore not attended as they should if been. The pool bar wasn’t open until 3 & restaurant closed at 9. Plus our first afternoon after a 3 hour drive was to have the gardeners out with petrol strimmers for 2 hours completely ruining the vibe. Reception staff did ask them to stop after we complained.

The noisey gardening equipment- Get electric strimmers ! Bar & Restaurant not open full time

the quality of the hotel and villa was superb. the view from the villa and breakfast/restaurant area was outstanding. staff were very helpful and friendly. breakfast was delicious (have gallo pinto typical breakfast). the pool area was nice. road access to hotel was good - we were in a villa at the top of site, off the paved road, via a gravel/grass track, but driveable even after rain. the balconies of the villas are wonderful to sit out of any rain, with spectacular views towards the volcano and of all the birds that visit (highlight was we saw a toucan!). it is located perfectly between La Fortuna town and Arenal, so no day trip is too far. it was definitely good value for money to quality ratio compared to some other places we stayed.

evening meals were a bit hit or miss. great spicy tuna and veg, not great risotto. the gate intercom speaker was waterlogged so it was impossible to hear anything through it, then they just buzz you in.

The Hotel, perfectly positioned, was a wonderful close to our three week trip around Costa Rica. We loved the positioning of the wee bungalows so that each felt sufficiently private, carefully spaced around lovely gardens with terrific view of the volcano. The on-site restaurant was great in that we could eat well (not cheaply but fairly priced) in a lovely setting and not worry about driving back from town after dark. Staff were charming, helpful and attentive and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was good and the pools -both hot and cold - a wonderful daily treat. We loved our stay.

Nothing to dislike really - this is a lovely place; we did have problems with our air conditioning which rather spoiled our sleep (it was dripping over the bed and noisy even though we turned it off) and it would have been good to get early attention to fix this, but it’s one of those things - machinery, eh?! - and as the place was overall well maintained I’m sure it would be fixed promptly ready for future guests.
