I have been travelling with my best friend for the past 4 years around the Croatian coast and this will go down as one of the best stays! After initial mix up with our room, Tanja (from the reception) managed to work her magic and give us a new room, and with a balcony with that! Her attitude, professionalism and warm approach made our stay that much more pleasant, safe to say that she is amazing! The entire staff has been nothing but incredible, from Filip at the bar, who made us the best and creamiest cappuccino every morning (I do miss it now!), to Josip form the bar and his best vibes, and Branka, the cleaning lady, (can't forget her) who gave us the friendliest smile every morning. Unfortunately, can't name everyone, however I think everyone would deserve a line here for sure! The staff is what makes a great stay, and this one was the friendliest, most positive and professional in their approach, and most importantly, their familial sense of working which made us appreciate them even more; it definitely felt like home. It truly was an experience and with all the people we met, it will be difficult to forget! We, for sure, should have booked a longer stay!

Everything! The sea view, food, location and wonderful stuff, the best staff in this hotel- kind, friendly and professional! The most capable person is the manager, Liljana. She’s very dedicated, responsible and pleasant person! A big compliment goes to the bar in this hotel. You’ll get there the most delicious coffee, coctails and homemade brandies with the best view. Thanks to guy Eddie ! An unforgettable experience. We’re coming back again soon !

I liked everything!

The hotel and the staff was excellent! We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and in Opatia. The breakfast and the dinner was delicious and hearty! The bar's prices are fair. You can rent bicycles. They offer free activity programs for the guests! The room was comfortable and clean. Even you may ask for room cleaning every day. The receptionists are polite and informative.

This isn't the Hotel's direct problem, but I think they have to emphasize, they haven't got any parking lot. If you travel to Opatia by car - you have to pay parking fee everywhere (april - october 0:00 - 24:00)! There isn't any free solution. The daily prices depend on the zone and the place where you leave your car. It takes 17-32 EUR / day! It can be a big additional cost, what you don't count.. I think the hotel has to offer some kind of discount or voucher in the near closed parking garages!

Excellent seaside location right at Lungomare. Direct access to sea from hotel’s beach deck and good food/drinks at the beach bar. Sun beds are not included in the room rate which I didn’t mind since that meant they were available without people reserving them unnecessarily. Good breakfast. Bicycles for rent (although there are really no bike paths or lanes nearby).

Had half-board and ate only once in the evening at the hotel - the dinner time is only two hours which basically means that everyone is queuing up to get warm food at the same time and my idea of a holiday doesn’t include standing in a line for mediocre dinner.

Breakfast was great, staff is really good special regards to Alex at the reception desk who was so kind and helpful! We got upgraded to sea view room which was great!

The hotel doesn’t have its own parking so expect to be paying 25€ daily for parking in the street. Sun beds on the hotel beach are not free for the guests, and the beach is not closed for non guests so it is little bit overcrowded and expensive.

Very nice sundeck at the ocean just across the Lungomare path. We received an upgrade with sea view which made our stay much more pleasant. Nice cappuccino at the lobby bar at a reasonable price, €2.20. Valuable parking advice during the check in. Overall good value for the dinner buffet (with beer or wine) when included in the room rate. Many international TV channels.

The indoor "pool" is more like a very large hot-tub and not inviting at all, even in colder weather. The biggest down side of our stay was the breakfast: no fresh bread at all; no real selection of muesli cereals beyond cornflakes and coco-puffs; orange "juice" made from syrup; and the biggest disappointment was the coffee, although "fresh ground" from the coffee machine, no matter if we tried cappuccino, espresso, americano, or coffee latte, it all tasted awful. There was always a wide and colorful range of sweets on offer, also during dinner buffet, but they all disappointed when it comes to taste and texture. For a longer stay in summer, a mini fridge in the room would be desirable to take you thru the day.

We recently stayed at Hotel Istra Opatija for a fallbreak getaway, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The breakfast buffet was abundant and offered a wide variety of options. The bar also served excellent cocktails and delicious meals. Our room was spacious, and the facilities were in line with the money we spent. However, what truly stood out for us was the range of sports activities included in the hotel's services. This was the primary reason for choosing this hotel, and it didn't disappoint. We had the pleasure of meeting the trainer, Ana, who was brimming with energy and positive vibes. She tailored the activities perfectly to our fitness levels and needs. Usually, we don't spend much time in the hotel while on vacation, but this time it was almost impossible to leave because we were so well-entertained on the premises. Even the less-than-ideal weather didn't bother us, as the hotel had so much to offer. In summary, if you plan to visit Opatija, you absolutely must stay at Hotel Istra.

Some walls and cellars needed attention. One of the waiters wasn't very attentive, but all the others were very professional and kind.

Surprised with the conditions and service, from my experience I think it deserves at least a 4 stars hotel. Perfect food, fresh, delicious and many choices Very comfortable and clean rooms (thanks to Vera) with stunning view. You miss a chance if you don't try Maya massage, (she beats Asians) and also the perfect coffee made by Tea. I highly recommend the Istria Hotel, for me it was the first time but for sure not the last one.

Check in, and some very little details

The location and the beach were great. We had a room with balcony out to the sea, which was lovely. Hotel staff were very friendly and relaxed, especially the cleaning ladies were really nice. Prices at the beach bar were very reasonable. The town is very pretty and not too busy. Very relaxed atmosphere.

We booked half board and I am not sure I would recommend it. There was a decent variety of foods. Not much for vegetarians and vegans though. I found it strange that kitchen staff didn't seem to know what the food contained (e.g. I asked if there was alcohol in the dessert and they didn't know). Also at dinnertime it was always a little to full for my taste, didn't matter if we came early or waited till later (when there were also less foods to choose from though). I think if you want to save money and don't like to have to search for decent restaurants for your dinner, you are well served with the half-board. Personally I would choose the hotel again, but only with breakfast, eating dinner outside at the many restaurants available.

Impressive breakfast options as they had a lot of choices: variety of bread (corn, white, toast, buns) , fruit, jogurts, eggs, vegetables, cheese selection, ham, salads, different cereals, jams, sweet corner. It was a really rich selection of food and always refilled so nothing was missing. Compliments to all breakfast staff as there was always a clean table available no matter how busy it was in the morning. Great choice of coffee, tea and juice. I had a lovely modern room with a balcony and it was a complimentary upgrade, very comfy beds. The accommodation staff are brillant - the whole hotel is spotless, it truly is clean everywhere. Staff in all departments were very polite and friendly, always a smile. You can swim right in front of the hotel, they have sunbeds available for rent and space for people who do wish to use the sunbeds, so that was nice. It was nice that I could leave my luggage after checkout at reception while waiting for my bus to go home. Hope to come again soon.
