The “hotel charge” that is layered on should be included in the price and not a surprise. Also, parking costs should also be noted. Self park here is $56/night plus up to 3 in and outs for an extra $20. Valet is $75 plus in and out fee. The full financial implication of staying here should be much more clear.

Location great. 10 seconds from the river and 1 minute from North Michigan Avenue. Staff fantastic!! Rooms must be brand new/renovated. Minibar empty so you can stock your own sodas instead of paying astronomical prices to the hotel. Front desk has a small shop for snacks open 24/4. Walgreens 5 minutes away and 7/11 2 minutes away. We were upgraded due to my status in this site so got a deluxe room. Large and nice view on foot 34.

Very expensive valet parking ($75).

I loved that the property was right on the river! Beautiful views! The bathroom had great counter space for me to do my make up for birthday weekend! The staff was so kind and friendly and made our 3 day weekend stay so enjoyable!

The location was excellent. The cleaning staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were big and very clean.

The manager did not find my reservation for 6 hours. After spending the entire day travelling with my elderly mother and daughter, we had to go to another hotel after paying for a room at this hotel. We paid for 4 nights and was reimbursed for only three! We paid for four nights at a much higher rate at another hotel due to walking in looking for a room. We prepaid here two months in advance to just arrive to chatos. Hotel blamed Bookings and bookings said that they confirmed reservation. Ultimately it was the hotel's error but they did not apologize, only reimbursed for three nights when we paid for four, and was actually rude when we called them out on mistake. Horrible experience. Where is the good customer service these days!

The rooms I booked were unavailable and the hotel upgraded me to a suite! Loved it!

We booked an overnight in Chicago to catch one of my husband's favorite bands at the House of Blues and wanted a nice room nearby. The property couldn't have been more convenient. We took the CTA blue line from ORD and threw walk to the hotel was chilly but reasonable. The HoB was only a few blocks walk through a nearby Plaza. There are many nice dining choices nearby.

When we stay again we won't add on the breakfast option. The menu options are priced so that you quickly exceed the allotted per person budget, and the quality doesn't match the pricing. They were out of my original choice, and then told me they didn't have regular milk to make me a latte. There are many other options nearby.

The location was perfect! So convenient to all the big tourist attractions (most within an easy walk) and public transit was easily accessible as well. We were near our boat tour launch and enjoyed walking to shopping, shows and museums. And the River Walk was right across the street and down the stairs…loved that!

Parking was not on site, just a block away and discounted with hotel reservation, but a little tricky for someone not familiar with driving in Chicago. We asked for complimentary water bottles and were told they had run out which was disappointing.

I like the size of room, the cleaning staff were respectful and accommodating, the location was excellent and you can walk to most desired destinations. The rooms were very clean and the bell hop service staff were very helpful and friendly.

Bookings.com is very difficult to contact in emergencies and have very poor communication when problems arise. The manager of this hotel could not find my reservation and my mother had to go stay in another hotel. We paid for 4 nights and was only reimbursed for 3 nights. The manager was defensive and blamed Bookings and Bookings confirmed the reservation without informing me of the confirmation. It was a nightmare.

Our party of four checked in around 4:00 and we met a really nice front desk associate who upgraded us to a river view on the 27th floor! I was so excited because I made the plans and I was worried. Imagine our delight when we realized it was a corner room with beautiful views to the south and west! So fun to people watch and look at the glorious Chicago skyline! The room was very large, beautifully decorated and had super comfy beds. Really awesome shower, too, with all the necessary amenities. We went to the hotel restaurant for dinner and the food was really tasty. A+ for the Royal Sonesta and staff! Will definitely be back!

The only complaint were the pillows. There was a hard and soft one on each bed but everyone wanted the soft. When we requested to swap out the hard ones, the lady at the front desk said housekeeping would have to bring them up. They never did show up. Maybe because it was after hours; not sure.

Magnificent view towards Chicago River and River North. Spacious room. Comfortable beds. Newly deco rated rooms. Comfortable rooms overall unlike a lot of old Chicago hotel rooms.

House keeping and some staff were not very professional. No housekeeping in the evening if something is wrong. Some days room cleaning were skipped without a prior notice. Very thin walls between the rooms. We could here the chatting noise through the connecting doors late in the evening.
