The rooms where very quiet with view to a nice garden. We could park our car on site. We used the stay in Avranches to have a quick look at Mount Saint Michel and then have a short travel to our ferry in Cherbourg, which all worked pretty well. Since we arrived pretty late, we had dinner in the hotel. The food was excellent (however, a little warning for all those who think food has to be cheap: We spent the same amount in the restaurant as for the stay in the hotel overnight and one can spend easily more!). Also the breakfast was very good and a good start into a long day, which is not always the case in french hotels.

An old and well maintained hotel with character. The room was cozy, clean and very large. The staff was polite, welcoming and professional. We had a wonderful meal in the restaurant, the best meal of our week long stay in Normandy. The menu was exciting and the wine list was excellent. They also had a very good selection of single malt whisky, which made me very happy. We also found the town to be an interesting place to visit and there did not seem to be many touristst around in spite of the proximity to Mont Saint-Michel. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay if you are visiting Mont Saint-Michel

We were in one of the very comfortable rooms in the row of one-up, one-down bedroom building; very conveniently the last in the row next to the on-site parking. The central garden running down to the main hotel building is a delight. Our dinner was excellent and our very friendly waitress ensured I could order a special apple start as I had done many years breviously despite it not being on the menu. Now considered too heavy by the clientelle.The breakfast was adequate but in comparision with the dinner a pale with little choice.

We were travelling up from the south west and needed a place to stop over for one night. We also wanted secure parking as we had electric bicycles on the back of the car and Hotel de La Croix d'Or was perfect. The food in the resturant that night was superb and a delicious breakfast with plenty of choice the next morning. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was spotless. We were sorry to have only spent the one night in Avranches and would like to have had the time to explore it a bit more

it’s a charming old coaching inn dating back to, I think, the 16th century. The restaurant is beautiful with some tables looking onto a beautifully maintained garden. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, you can choose from a number of differently priced menus. The service and the staff are excellent. We have been many times over the years and have never been disappointed

A nice hotel with very welcoming staff in an old but renovated building; parking available which is a great plus. Very good breakfast.

The size of the room, but the main problem is the lack of the air conditioning; it was hot outside during our stay, and the room we got at the first floor was incredible hot, and the small fan provided by the hotel was almost useless.

There was a lovely garden with seats and tables outside our door (the rooms seemed to be made from converted stables?) A roomy,powerful shower. Friendly,helpful staff and a good breakfast in a pleasant room overlooking the garden.

The room was a little shady but the garden made up for this and ensured coolness in hot weather.

The historical value and location in the center of Avranches. Also, the restaurant was incredible and I am still talking about the artichoke ice cream

Concierge services seemed to be lacking. Having a taxi service from the hotel would have been a major benefit as the train station is down a very steep hill

Beautiful old hotel , good twin room, lovely garden with seating and great off road parking.

No shower tray , bath had shower but bath could be dangerous in stepping out , a very small fridge would be handy.

A very quiet room which was a little dark. However, the garden outside the door more than compensated for this. An extremely comfortable bed and a very clean room. Breakfast was good value for money with good quality ingredients including what seemed to be local cheeses. The coffee was from a machine but palatable. Good on site parking and friendly staff.

Dinner was delicious but with small portions which didn’t suit our large appetites.
