If you like a good cup of tea, a healthy breakfast and a peaceful nights sleep, then this is the place for you! The hotel is on a quiet street, with woodland opposite. It is only staffed until 3pm, but don't let that put you off, as the automated check in was easy, even for a technophobe, like me. A tram stop at the end of the road makes for a quick and easy ride into Essen centre. The rooms are comfortable, furnished with taste and have everything you need. Breakfast is terrific. In coffee loving Germany, here you will find 12 cannisters of different teas, teapots with proper integrated infusers, and cold milk (not coffee creamer!} Fabulous! The homemade overnight oats are delicious, and there is a great fresh fruit salad, as well as all the normal fare. Plus it can be eaten outside, on sunny days. The lovely woman who owns this place could not be more helpful. Lufthansa lost my luggage, and she was able to take me to a cupboard containing all things for such emergencies, and quickly supplied me with complimentary toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant.... Once Lufthansa located it, they said they could only deliver late afternoon, (after the staff have left). But she spoke to the courier driver himself on the phone, and had it delivered to her home nearby. All problems that could have led to an awful start to our holiday, were quickly neutralised by her. What a find this peaceful place was. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

NOTHING

The place was easy to find. Everything you need is atound the corner, including a really nice icecream shop next to the supermarket around the corner. Everything from the checkin to the checkout was properly automated and easily accessible. The room was neat, clean and with enough space. The bathroom was impeccable. I found it sweet and unique that they had lots of interesting and nuanced reading material in the lobby with a coffee machine. It was like a small corner from a reading cafe.

I honestly didn’t‘t see anything I didn‘t like.

On arrival we found out the name of the hotel was changed to 'Das Lola' so we were a little bit confused. Luckily there was a party going on and someone outside told us this was the correct hotel. There was no staff to check in so we did it via the via the information pole. We also added the breakfast option for 18 euro pp. The hotel was very clean and the bed was good. The bathroom was great and also very clean. Good shower as well. No coffee or tea in the room only two bottles of water. In the evening there was some noise from a party downstairs and the rooms are not super silent we could hear some noises from the adjacent rooms. The breakfast was really good, nice juices, good bread and with very good coffee. Only thing was the croissants were cold. From the hotel we did a 4km hike to a viewpoint at the baldeneyesee. Really nice hike. We ate at the Chicago Steakrestaurant which had a bit of mob vibes but the steak was really good.

see my other comments. All small stuff. In general it was very good. The view wasn't very special, we looked at the parking lot.

It’s very clean! Checking in and check put is super easy. Staff is dependable. I asked for some recommendations from one of the staff and she was gracious enough to put together a list of stores and places I could explore.

There’s no room service. I mean at night I sometimes need to drink an extra glass of water but there’s no one to call for room service and groceries outside are closed. Bit of an inconvenience there but in totality my stay was amazing.

Location was with 15 minutes walk from Spiel Essen. Great restaurants nearby. Quiet and calm. Very comfortable room for 3 people.

It would have been nice to have somewhere to sit in the evening to play games (purchased at Spiel). Because of this, we lost some of the lovely social interactions with guests sharing games in the evening (which happens in other hotels that I have stayed at during Spiel)

Good size room and very, very clean. We arrived by car and the access to the entrance is very good, the hotel having its own drive. There was ample parking around the back on the premises of the hotel. The breakfast was great, plenty of choice for a continental breakfast and good coffee! Friendly host too. All in all plenty of reasons to come back to Das Lola.

Good size rooms well appointed bathrooms with one of the best showers I’ve ever had in a hotel there was a nice feel about the whole hotel parking was excellent we also had a good buffet breakfast

The bathroom had a condensation issue also it could of been a leaking window as we did have heavy rain but it didn’t detract from our stay

Great location and, very peaceful stay. Very clean rooms with excellent facilities. The hosts are very welcoming and accommodating. Would highly recommend Hotel Das Lola.

Everything was perfect.

Only one very soft pillow per person. Lack of facility for hot drinks in the room.

Hotel was light and airy, clean and well maintained. I arrived late and there was an intelligent automatic key dispenser to get the room key.
