Central location, just a few hundred meters from the central train station. The room was very quiet despite the location to the street/train. I had an overnight stay without breakfast, so I can't comment on that.
The bed and pillows could have been a bit more comfortable, but this is very dependent on each person. I would like to emphasize that the bed and pillows were not uncomfortable either. I couldn't turn off the air conditioning and the led lights were a bit annoying.

This is ‘the ideal hotel’: super quiet and comfortable room, great beds and excellent showers. Lots of space to put clothes and things away. Very well located. And also super important this time around: good air conditioning

Excellent location right next to the Hbf. Very good value for money as the room is a step up from a basic cheap hotel and you get a FreeCityTicket which in Essen is very generous, allowing the whole of the VRR area to Dusseldorf and Dortmund!
Don't bother checking in on the InterCityHotels app like they tell you to, it saves no time at reception and I still had to pay by card at reception when I left anyway. Didn't see the point of it!

excellent modern, clean hotel almost opposite the railway station, which included a free public transport ticket which made the stay even more value for money. the guy on reception spoke excellent English and was very helpful and polite.

Affordable price, great location, very useful free transportation ticket. Also the breakfast was simple but delicious (a highlight for the coffee machine that made a good espresso). Room was very clean and modern style. I would come back to this hotel again in the future.
The aircon in the room was not working at full speed, but it wasn't a big issue.
