Palermo is an ancient city and nothing helps you appreciate that more than the fact that the B&B is in a building that dates back to the Phoenicians, (6th century B.C.) Vestiges of the punic wall are still visible. Marica is an elegant and gracious hostess and she blends the ancient with the modern into a fabulous and comfortable stay. Cooking is her passion and she treated us to Scaccia Ragusana, a traditional savory flat bread from southeastern Sicily, which was the best we had in all of Sicily, to include Ragusa. She also prepared the traditional Sicilian almond granita for us, (delicious.) The location is superb, just steps from Via Maqueda, which represents the main axis of the historic centre and provides access to a number of historic sights- only eight minute walk to the Teatro Massimo. You'll also be able to easily access markets and enjoy the famous Palermo street food. If you're a fan, it's a perfect location to embark on the Rick Steves' Palermo City Walk and his recommended Streaty Food Tour. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated, with a comfortable bed, chic, modern bathroom and outdoor patio. We rented a car and the parking provided is exceptional and secure. Warning, Google maps is useless in Palermo, but Marica provides excellent directions. We stayed two nights and in addition to the historic centre, it was an excellent location to explore Mt. Pellegrino for fabulous views and Mondello Beach, to enjoy the eclectic art nouveau style villas, some by Ernesto Basile, the architect of the Teatro Massimo.There is an abundance of graffiti in the neighborhood, to which I think most Americans, (like us,) are unaccustomed and may find concerning, but do not let that alarm you - the location is extremely safe, upscale and quite posh. Take Marica's recommendation to venture three minutes from the B&B to a traditional, family run trattoria for dinner and partake of the gelato across the street for dessert.

A beautiful, stylish and centrally located B&B. A wonderful find! Everything was perfect. From our last minute request to add a day, to organising our taxi to the airport. Our host Marike’s met us outside at the time we were due to arrive to ensure we found her B&B. She is welcoming and makes you feel really comfortable about staying in her home. The room was comfortable, private, quiet and impeccably clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Marika treated us to a delicious breakfast each morning. Her passion for sharing home cooked Sicilian dishes shines through. Breakfast was so plentiful it kept us full for a day of exploring. Breakfast shouldn’t be rushed to you can really enjoy the beautiful garden area or take in the incredible art in their home. Her attention to detail is amazing. Marika took time to recommend where to visit and restaurants to try, marking everything on a map. The location is central to many great bars and restaurants, and the many churches and museums. Mariangela’s communication was great from the start of our booking. Thank you to Marika and your team for making us feel so welcome and for sharing your beautiful home. 🙏🏻

This place has definitely hit the spot and went far beyond my expectations in all areas - sophisticated yet comfortable home, indeed a special atmosphere, coziness and above all the hospitality of the owner. I would give it 11 out of possible 10 scale mark. Definitely stay there with breakfast included and enjoy unforgettable experience that will stay with you forever. You will fall in love with Palermo and big part of it will come through the experience of staying at 'Atmofere Punuche' which is also in the heart of the city yet this gem is hidden in a quiet and magical street lit with colorful lanterns lights. Best thing I could do for my Birthday was to stay there....-)

The location is perfect, so close to everywhere and peaceful even though it’s so close to the busier areas. We found it easily, the taxi on the way dropped us about 100m’s and the owner was able to organise a taxi to pick us up from the door on the way back. The style is quirky and original, the rooms are so comfortable and breakfast is delicious - kindly catering well for dietary requirements, nothing is too much. We’d love to come back in the summer when it’s warm enough to sit in the gorgeous outdoor area but even in November we could enjoy the view of it from the breakfast table.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Atmosphere Puniche. This was our 25th trip to Europe, 7th time to Italy and first visit to Sicily. A.P. cannot be topped by anywhere else we have stayed. The location, design, and most of all the grace & warmth of Marika are exceptional. Her breakfasts are creative and delicious. The carroles and granita are hard to beat. I do design work and travel planning and I highly recommend staying here. A.P. exceeds all expectations. Thank you Marika!

Driving through Palermo is very challenging. When you cannot walk to a venue plan on taking a taxi.

Atmosfere Puniche is chic and beautifully set out with a creative touch and a sense of space snd calm. The balcony draped with banana palms and tropical flowers is a lovely place to be even though it has no view. The breakfast there was Super, with a gigantic cappuccino, bowls of fruit and home made traditional Sicilian breads (even one wrapped around tomato). You walk over clean black marble floors and the bedroom (superior room ) felt huge. I slept well in the round bed. Our hostess was very kind and helpful - despite some difficulty with English. The position is excellent - just a short walk from streets full of cafes and shops, just 20 mins from the cathedral .

The old town has areas with construction going on

The location in the heart of the old city of Palermo was outstanding. Our host Marika went to great trouble to produce amazing breakfasts comprised of typical Sicilian dishes that she had prepared with great care. She is very proud of Sicilian cuisine and loves cooking. She went out of her way to help with transport arrangements such as taxis. Nothing was too much trouble. She has an amazing house complete with Roman ruins in the basement. Altogether it was a memorable and amazing experience. Highly recommended.

The hostess, Marika, made all the difference! We have been in Italy going on four weeks now at several different hotels, B&Bs etc. There has been none that came close to the personal care we received from Marika. The breakfast was the most varied and delicious we have had. The advice on several topics have made our travel safe and carefree. Her recommendations for dining out were perfect family owned businesses where they treated us like family. Her driver for the airport was a gentleman and efficient. We would come back for any stay in Palermo.

The owner's (Marika) wonderful insights and stories of Palermo and Sicily and her suggestions of where to go, what to see, where to eat. And her 'special' Sicilian breakfasts (different every morning, with explanation of what they are and how made) were fantastic and set us up perfectly for the sight-seeing day ahead.

Nothing can be better. This is a true gem of a place to stay. Wonderfully decorated with history and art in every room. Good central location but in a quiet area.

This was the best b&b experience during my 2 week adventure in Sicily! Marika is an exceptional and gracious host who was happy to share her passion for Palermo and provide a curated breakfast each morning! We felt like Sicilian royalty with our chalices of persimmon and other delicacies that changed each day. The space was lovingly restored providing modern amenities and preserving ancient ruins. Each of Marika’s design decisions reflect her keen sense of style and her love of her territory. Her Ragussan floors of pietra pece were the piece de la resistance! I loved every detail! The location was perfect allowing us to reach major points of interest early in the morning before the crowds and late night strolls through romantic side streets.
