We had a lovely room, with a Seaview and it had a balcony with opening doors. The breakfast was lovely, with a good variety. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was brilliant, right at the port. The restaurant had a great menu and food was delicious. It had a rooftop bar and restaurant, as well as a pool. We had a lovely stay and would recommend this hotel

We had to get the lift up and down to the city square, as we are older now and cannot walk up and downstairs. The lifts were ok but at times, there was a long queue and you have to pay each time you use the lift. They don’t have a weekly pass or anything like that.

It was a good location to move around the port

The pool and rooftop was always close and the access to the hotel it wasn’t easy at night because the city elevator was closed and there wasn’t bus working late.

Loved the view of the port and getting straight there from the ferry. Great restaurant attached and rooftop bar.

The main reason this does not get the highest grade is that there is no fridge in the room; we can't get tap.water without paying for it and there was no balcony or outside area to dry towels and swimming things.

We were return guests after about 6 years absence. The hotel has since installed a rooftop bar and pool which we think makes this almost perfect. It is located at the Marina Piccolo, meaning that travel to Amalfi, Positano and Naples are all within an hour (or 2 for Amalfi). Don’t be daunted by the thought of climbing the stairs to the town every day - there is an elevator within walking distance, and buses will take you up to the centre square or the railway station for a couple of Euros. A hot breakfast is available every day, plus continental in an easy to meet timeframe (7-10.30). The hotel also has an in-house restaurant at which we ate, sharing a delicious, fresh whole sea bass between the two of us. Room was always clean, always comfortable and we had a terrace where we could sit and have a drink and watch the hubbub of the ferries and crowd. It is a dynamic view, looking towards Naples and Vesuvius. We will be returning some time, we hope. Throughly recommend it to you.

Unfortunately, our room did not have a refrigerator (which we found surprising in this day and age) although we understand that other rooms at the same standard do. Also, our safe did not have a lock. I guess that makes it a ‘not safe’. All in all, so many things going for this hotel, these were minor inconveniences.

Great location - there’s a lift to top of the city just 5 min walking. There’s also the typical “Italian riviera” beach 5 min walking - several options. Room was great. Staff was helpful - got me an extra pillow and fixed the AC at midnight. Great window view - we were at the top floor with privileged view to the ocean.

Breakfast was lacking variate and quality considering the price per night you pay. Sorrento is crazy difficult to park - hotel gives you the option to park in their park for 25 eur per night, which we found expansive - the parking should be included in the room price. But it’s the standard in the Amalfi coast. Pool was under maintenance which was sad, we were looking for a swim with the view!

They seemed to run out of cooked food at the breakfast quite quickly. Our room had a window right next to the road and there was a lot of traffic noise, but we got used to it.

The breakfast options were okay. Friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant on the ground floor was also good. Pool and rooftop bar on the 4th floor. Very good location for people who have planned for Ferry trips as it's right in front of the port.

Rooms were not noise proof and we could hear some (party) noise from outside in the late night. A kettle in the room would have been nice.Walking from the hotel to the train station/centre could be a bit difficult with luggage if you take the shortest path with stairs, though there are options to take lift or cab.

The location was amazing right down by the port. The room was clean and fresh. The staff were fantastic.

There was not a lot to like about Il Faro. It was a long way up a set of stairs to the main piazza but you could always catch the bus. There was only one lift which was slow but that is needed is a little patience.
