We booked this hotel as a bit of a splurge having read the excellent reviews and the inclusion of a private outdoor onsen as part of the room. Rooms were beautifully appointed (modern, high end, traditional) with everything you could need. Loved the delineation of outside shoes and inside footwear and the provision of yukata's for dining. The food is traditional Japanese and we enjoyed the hotel dinner one night which was 8 courses of incredibly unique and delicious dishes (with a significant proportion of seafood.) The service was impeccable, friendly and polite, you are escorted to breakfast and dinner to your dedicated eating space. Lounge access is open for tea, coffee and juice throughout the day. But truly the best part was, after a day of cycling around the lakes or hiking, to be able to sink into 41 degree water in your own private onsen... bliss!

Everything was excellent. The staff were friendly. The check-in process was quick and they arranged a taxi for us at checkout. It was also an excellent location. The room exceeded our expectations with 2 large tvs, heated floors, large private onsen. Very clean, well maintained, and comfy. We had a great a great time.

We had no complaints and plan to return. I would highly recommend this onsen.

Breakfast and dinner was Amazing. We stayed 2 nights, and only opted dinner for 1 night as we wanted to try out other local dining. The price for dinner is pricey, but I have to say it was worth the experience. A lot of attention to detail in this resort. Loved the room and stay (especially the private hot spring). One area to improve on is to have the host explain the entire facilities. I was wondering around and actually don't know if certain areas are for us to use or not. Communication with the staff was great, but online/email communication was sub-par, which is a bit weird if you ask me.

Very strict ruling and timings. Communication through email could be better. In order to book the dinner, they need at least 48 hours notice and the dinner timings are strict. If you can't make it, then you forfeit the dinner and they can't pack it up for you. There was some miscommunication as they email said be ready for dinner at 5, but when I was there, the host told me 6. They only have 2 timings for breakfast and dinner, so they aren't quite flexible in that aspect.

People were really friendly

I didn't like the set times for the dinner . 1830 is just too early and that was the latest time available . The dinner includes lots of soup and noodles , I would have rather seen more seafood and beef . The music playlist at the breakfast and dinner is always the same , they never change the playlist , after 1 day we know all the songs . The people are not flexible in this resort . Nothing can be changed . E.G we asked the room not to be cleaned initially but the next day we wanted it to be cleaned and that was not possible. For the price you pay the people have to be more flexible . It would have been nice to see the chef during dinner and breakfast but he never came to the table . Drinks are very limited , they should add more options .

Location from Kawaguchiko station. All staff were amazing. Dinner and Breakfast was extraordinary.

Not the property but there were other guests sitting in close to us that were loud and had questions about everything. The staff did their best to tend to their needs.

The staff are amazing, kind and helpful. The food is also super! The presentation is wonderful and more importantly the flavor is wonderful and balanced. And you better be hungry, because the royal kaiseki dinner is way more food than I was expecting. Even the kids kaiseki is suitable for adults, it's extremely generous. All the facilities and common areas were clean. I would not hesitate to book this hotel again and I will recommend it to any friends/family who may be visiting the area.

I think the Royal Kaiseki while wonderful is a lot of food. I felt a little embarrassed that I didn't finish everything. The breakfast is equally impressive, but on both mornings I still felt full from dinner the night before. I felt bad not being able to finish everything (it was all delicious). Maybe an a la carte selection for breakfast would be better?

Fiji Onsenji Yumendono exceeded our expectations in all aspects. The room was spacious and comfortable with an ample bathing facility leading to a beautiful private onsen. The staff were attentive and considerate of our needs. We are travelling with a 9 month old and during our Kazakai dinner, our hostess helped by entertaining our baby when he was unsettled so that we could enjoy our meal. For the subsequent meals, she moved us to a private dining room and set up a bed for our baby to sleep in while we ate. The staff made every aspect of the trip easier, from clear communication prior to arrival to supporting the logistics of our stay including booking taxis, recommending Fiji viewing areas and being happy to answer any questions. Many of the staff spoke English. I would highly recommend this Onsen to any visitors who are looking for a luxurious, welcoming and hospitable experience.

Lovely rooms, private onsen baths, natural onsen water. Liked the small private dining spaces for meals too. Fabulous food, really special and making the most of Yamanashi local produce and meat. Chef Sakata is amazing. Really liked the salmon/trout from Lake Kawaguchiko. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Takano-san. Lots of things to do in the neighbourhood.

Google Maps keeps giving misdirections, trying to tell you to go down a little dead end alley to access the property. The hotel needs to inform Google Maps that the hotel carpark is accessed from the main road. In our room, the aircon unit was directly aimed at the head of one of the beds, which was a bit uncomfortable.

We stayed for 2 nights in the Sakura suite with our daughter. It is incredibly quiet and peaceful, we wanted a place to relax after 9 days in Osaka and Kyoto and Yumenodo for the bill exactly. Service is excellent, everyone who works there is incredibly nice and the food is AMAZING. in fact, there’s so much food at each meal that we didn’t need to eat lunch both days we had breakfast and dinner there. They had special meals for my daughter for breakfast and dinner which she enjoyed, however she’s an adventurous eater, I wouldn’t recommend it if your child is not open to eating raw fish and seafood.

There is no view but we knew that coming in. If you go for a walk, you’ll see Mt Fuji easily outside the Onsen.

Finding the place was a bit challenging after sunset as we got there later than planned. If you're taking the bus to Fujikawaguchiko, I recommend buying your bus tickets in advance to avoid any delays. Once we arrived, the check-in process was swift, and a friendly receptionist escorted us to our room, which was impressively spacious. The heated floors in the bathroom were a highlight, and the shower was exceptional. It was delightful to relax in the onsen after a day of traveling. The staff's attentiveness was unexpectedly superb—they checked on us in the morning and guided us to breakfast, where we enjoyed a traditional Japanese meal with a stunning view of Mt. Fuji. On our departure day, as it was raining, the staff kindly offered us a ride to the train station to keep us dry. The staff were incredibly caring and attentive. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.
