Loved having a view of Mount Fuji out my window was so magical when it came out of the clouds. Even more special as it had been hiding for the day. The host was lovely, soooooo helpful gave recommendations for one of best restaurants I’ve been to in Japan and picked up and dropped me off at the station. He was a really great host!! The facilities were great just remember that the showers are available until 9;30am and then again after 3pm. Loved the location which is right by the lake could get amazing views of Fuji and the lake is a lot more peaceful than the town. If you want to be in the town area then maybe not the place for you but I think it was perfect and more chilled.
Could hear the other people in other rooms a little but this is to be expected in this style of property. All guest were respectful regarding noise.

1000000/10 Where to start!? Our stay couldn't have been more lovely or more accommodating. Our host was full of personal and wonderful advice about the surrounding area and was genuinely concerned about how we could make the best of our trip! And this was across the board for all guests, all we heard at this hostel was thanks to our host for the amazing recommendations! He worked around our timings so we could have easy travel to and from the town, and when one member of the party left his bag on the bus from Tokyo to the area, he personally sorted it out and retrieved the bag for us!! The location was magical with views of Fuji from the hostel and the comfiest, quietest beds; very clean amenities and with a lovely space to connect with other travellers. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. By far the most wonderful host I have had at a hostel, staying here will bring a bit of magic to your travels around Japan :)
Nothing.

The host was incredibly helpful — he kindly picked us up near the station in the evening and even dropped us off for our early morning bus, which we really appreciated. The facilities were also very clean and well maintained, making for a comfortable and pleasant stay. Probably a very nice view over Fuji-san but we were unfortunate and had bad weather conditions so we couldn't see anything.
There wasn’t much to complain about. If anything, the host seemed a bit overly stressed and eager to make everything perfect, which created a slightly tense atmosphere at times. Nothing dramatic, just a small observation.

The host was exceptionally kind! He picks up the guests at the Kawaguchiko station and also drops them off in the morning! He also speaks really good English and makes it easy for you to connect with other guests with some really nice small talk skills! The private double room I stayed in and the washrooms/showers were also very clean. The futons were very comfortable and smelled fresh as well. You can view the Fuji mountain from the common area where you can hang out with other guest and drink coffee/tea or have some late night snacks. I would definitely come back here if I visit this area again, which I will sure do! Amazing experience, I wish I had stayed longer.

This was an amazing place, I stayed 3 nights, and I wish I could have stayed longer. The common area is so beautiful, warm, and cozy. They even play super nice relaxing music in the evening to make it even more pleasant. The dorm was also really nice and clean. The location is amazing, close to the lake, and with a lot of nice things to do like hiking, biking, or going to a nearby onset. But the best part was the hostels owner. He picked me up from the station and took me back there without any additional cost. He also gave me a lot of nice suggestions about places to visit and things to do, such a nice person. I hope I can come back to visit this place soon! Thanks for a lovely time.

We loved to stay in this hostel! It was a great experience to have traditional Japanese stay. The view of our room was just incredable. Luckly, we had an amazing weather to see Mt Fuji during our stay. They picked us from the train station and they again left us to train station by their car, we are really apprecited for their kindness.
Everything was perfect in this hostel! However, location is a bit far from the main areas. Additionally, if you are skinny, sleeping on the floor is not so comfy :) I had back pain and should pain in the morning because I am not used to it :D

We had an absolute amazing stay here! the owner of the hostel has the kindest heart ever. He came to pick us up at kawaguchiko station. And upon arrival he gave us a lot of amazing tips for activities and restaurants in the vicinity. The hostel is a beautiful wooden house, and the rooms were simple and clean. We were lucky with the weather, so we could se mt Fuji from our window. I would recommend this place to everyone, from single travelers, to couples to families. You truly feel at home here!
everything was perfect

I’m so glad we stayed at Mr. Michiku’s hostel. Michiku, our host, is the best. He picked me and my son up at 7/11 close to the station and dropped us back at the station the following day. He was very accommodating and helpful. He tend to our needs even for a short stay. The hostel itself is lovely. The interior is a mix of traditional Japanese and modern. We had a warm, comfortable and restful stay. We spent the night in a beautiful tatami room with absolutely amazing view of Mt. Fuji. I will definitely stay here again. It is quite far from the town center but I didn’t mind and loved walking around the Lake Kawaguchiko.
There’s nothing I didn’t like about this property.

We stayed in a private room at Hostel Michikusa-Ya in early September 2024. We enjoyed our stay very much. The hostel has a stunning view of Mount Fuji. The private rooms are very spacious and offer a traditional sleeping pad on the floor. The host is a very friendly man who has endless suggestions on food, activities, hikes and sites to see. He is very helpful in navigation around Kawaguchiko. The hostel does not offer bike rentals, however there are bike rentals close by. I would recommend looking into bike rentals while staying here (unless you have a vehicle) because the walk to restaurants and sites from the hostel is quite far. The host offers 3 different times for shuttle in the morning to the train station and can often pick up at the train station if you arrive. I was able to stay in contact with him via Booking.com chat. When I was here there was mostly backpackers at the hostel, all were very quiet and mostly kept to themselves. It was a nice and relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely book here again. Highly recommend this hostel!

I LOVEEED staying here! The hostel has a nice atmosphere and Michi the owner was sooooo nice and kind and helpful, he really made us feel welcome, it was the only place from 8 accommodations we stayed in Japan that we felt a really warm welcome. Our room had views to Fuji, and there was a little meditation corner in the common areas with views to the garden and Fuji that was my favourite spot 🥹❤️ showers were warm, everything was clean… we’re back to Japan March next year and will stay here again for sure! Highly recommend it!
the futon and pillow were a bit thin, but it was not a problem for us, we just used the provided cushion to make it a bit higher and it was perfectly fine, we still had a really good night of sleep! Having white cotton sheets and pillowcases would also give a huge upgrade to comfort, but again this is just a detail and suggestion, the place was great! we see you again next year!
