The place was pretty quaint in an iconic part of Kobe. The rooms were a good size compared to your average business hotel. The breakfast was absolutely amazing - I'm talking dedicated hamburger and waffle stand, cheese fondue, and all of the usual western and Japanese offerings. It's honestly the best breakfast I've had at a hotel in Japan (and I live here).
The rooms were a bit tired. The wind made a wheezy noise against the windows which were a bit annoying, particularly during the night. It's at the end of the pier, so there's always at least a 10-15 minute walk if you want to grab a bite to eat outside the hotel.

Good location. Convenient shuttle bus from / to Sannomiya / Shinkobe station. We were so impressed by the high quality of wet bath amenities. Breakfast option was amazing. Room is a bit aged but cleanliness is well maintained.
We stayed for 3 nights inclusive daily breakfast. On the last day, we were asked to paid breakfast for our child and we have never been asked for the first 2 days. Restaurant Manager / Duty Manager insisted that the hotel received the booking request for 2 adults even we have shown our confirmation letter from Booking.com. Finally Front Office Manager sorted it out. We thought the hotel stay would be excellent but this incident totally ruined our experience in the hotel at the end and we had to rush for check out since we wasted our time to deal with this matter.

Loved the design of the hotel. Like being on a cruise ship. The view from our room was gorgeous. Felt luxurious and special! The rooftop bar was spectacular at night. Staff were warm and welcoming. We initially booked 2 nights here, but after the first night, we decided to book in for a 3rd! We had an executive room and had access to the executive lounge with free drinks and food at certain times. It was amazing value! 100% recommend staying here in an executive room :)
The only thing was the toilet seat was way too heated, it actually really irritated us, but we told reception and they sent up an engineer to figure out how to turn the heater off! 😄

1) Amazing view 2) Good location 3) Bus shuttle to Sannomiya 4) Balcony! 5) Travellator to go up to the lobby 6) No frills check-out Time flies when we're staying in Meriken Park Oriental Hotel. This meant that the overall experience is very good and we're indeed sad to check out. We'll definitely consider staying here again if we come to Kobe again one day.
1) Bathroom a little smelly 2) Could have had a semi-staired (ie, a mix of slopes and gentle steps) descend for people who are having difficulties walking 3) Could have been clearer on the parking charges - 1800yen in the hotel, 1500yen outside, but they failed to mention that the timing will add up a lot more parking outside. So it might be better to park in the hotel instead.

I appreciated the staff's patience in understanding guests' needs and their proactive approach to problem-solving. The rooms varied in decor and room size, some showcasing newer furnishings while others had a more dated look. There is a big gap between the two. The hotel is a bit of a walk from both the train station and the nearest supermarket. Despite being a non-smoking establishment, some guests chose to smoke on their balconies, and the smell could sometimes permeate into nearby rooms due to the wind direction.

The hotel is sort of international standards you find in USA, Europe and Aisia, it is a proper setup and not similar to standard Japanese local hotel, the room is spacious and all the rooms having beutiful sea view with large balcony and refreshing sea breeze, the Breakfast room in the ground floor is huge with full height glazed windows from three sides with sea view, the breakfast is very good. The relatively isolated location is unfortunately the only negative point if you are a tourist , no nearby restaurants, public transport or things to see, otherwise it is an amazing hotel in failities.
The location is far from main shopping, Restaurants or landmarks, and you need a taxi as we couldnt see local public transportation nearby

We got a room facing west with the harborland view. Thus, the view was amazing. The room had a rather wide balcony with two outdoor chairs. It was really nice to hang out in the balcony looking at the amazing view, at day and night. The room and bathroom was clean and comfortable. We also requested a baby cot for a fee. Along with the baby cot, they also provided a diaper bin, additional towel, and blanket for my baby.
The room itself was rather small, which might be compensated by the balcony, so that the total area was actually large. However, as we got a baby cot, the room felt smaller. The check-in took quite long as there was a line for the check in. There is a self check-in feature though which might make the check in faster.

The hotel was very nice and in a good location. The views from the very large corner balcony were great. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the free shuttle bus into the town was very useful and reliable. I would definitely stay here again.
I thought the breakfast options at the buffet could have been better, but all-in-all my stay was quite ejoyable. There was nothing bad with the hotel. The items I mention are just small nit-picks for the sake of being more thorough in the review.

Parking is free if you drive here Shuttle bus to Sanomiya station every 20 minutes where the central of Kobe is Scene - right next to Kobe harbor that you get to enjoy the whole ocean outlet Location - Mosaic mall and Umie are right next to the hotel with a short walk of less than 5 minutes that you can find more than 500 different restaurants and shops there Interior design is Westernized, which gives people a relax feeling, unlike most Japanese hotels Spacious enough
A bit pricey but it's worth

I have been staying here for the last 14-15 years. I like the helpful staff, good room service and menu, airy rooms, seaside location and especially the balconies.
I booked 4 rooms for my colleagues and myself. We all had breakfast-inclusive bookings. I was put in an executive room and my colleagues weren’t. As a result, I was entitled to take breakfast in the executive lounge but couldn’t dine free in the Santa Monica restaurant with my colleagues, for free. So I had to pay additional to have breakfast there. I think it would be better to give executive room guests the option of diminish in either the executive or the general dining area. I miss the old egg chef and the great omelettes that have now been somewhat oddly replaced with cold to luke-warm sliders (mini-burgers).
