One gets the feeling that if this was not an apart-hotel, it would be an upscale Japanese condo. It’s very well located, a 10 minute (for us) walk from the Kyoto rail station, next to a four-story AEON mall which has a reasonable food court and a full range grocery store. Close to Kyoto’s excellent public bus system. Security is good (but see negative comment below), with deadbolt and high security key access. Apartments are sizeable, and there are only two apartments on each floor, separated by an elevator, so noise is not a problem. The Booking website shows the room layout accurately. Rooms are a good size, but note no storage, only hangers. Bed is comfortable, with duvets. Toilet is separate from the bathroom, a handy feature; note, however, that the toilet is in a very compact room – think Boeing 737MAX size, and mobility challenged people may have an issue. The bathroom itself allows freedom of movement. There’s a tub, with separate shower. Shower pressure and volume is excellent, and there’s good lighting in the washbasin area. The apartment has been very recently built or redone; very little evidence of wear. Staff are very friendly and congenial, with very good skill in English. Unit was spotlessly clean. Lighting in all the living areas was excellent, making for easy reading or board game playing in the evenings. Wifi was acceptable for our use, but not exceptionally fast, at 5 Mbps early on a Sunday morning. The TV in the kitchen/dining/living area was huge, and we enjoyed the ability to use our Netflix and Amazon Prime memberships, given that we couldn’t find any English language programs on the satellite channels. Air conditioning is provided by ductless units in the living and bedroom areas; they worked effectively and silently. The washing machine worked well; kudos to management for including detailed instructions in English, something many other places lack. Clothes drying is by rack. For balance of review, see Trip Advisor.

It's a personal beef, and I realize the hotel has the right to set its own rules, but I didn't like having to drop the room key at the front desk every time we went out. To be fair, the guy running the place promised there's always be someone at the desk, and there was, even when I did my early morning run. It's just that I don't like the thought of anyone coming in off the street and asking for a room key - just my incipient paranoia. We got to know the staff over our stay, so not a big problem. I'd give the hotel 9.7 out of ten, but I'm prepared to round up...

Absolutely fabulous location- 5 minutes walk to Kyoto Station, directly next door to the Aeon Mall, and just a few blocks from Toji Shrine. Very central location to access other tourist spots. Nice, clean rooms that feel new. The staff were friendly, spoke English well, and were very helpful (especially Yugo!). The hotel room was a Japanese-sized apartment, so large for a hotel room, but a tight fit for a family of 6 for multiple days. Despite that we would definitely come back and stay here again. We really liked having a washing machine and dry feature in the shower room. We loved the proximity to Kyoto Station, which made getting around Kyoto a breeze. Having a big mall with a food court, grocery store, and drug store right next door was so convenient for meals. The Glanz Kei also had many items in the lobby that could be borrowed during our stay including toys for our kids! We also appreciated being able to leave our bags after checking out before our next train. We loved our stay here and sincerely hope to come back to Kyoto and the Glanz Kei again soon!

So close and convenient to the trains. Just around the corner to a huge shopping center with a grocery store. The Kyoto Train Station is a short walk away with lots of food and shops. The staff was very friendly and helpful - we had our luggage shipped and a package - they received them and secured them for us. Washer and drying system worked very well; they even supplied the laundry pod.

Furniture was upholstered and could use a cleaning. It was hard to understand the recycling system. Using keys to unlock and lock the door and having to leave the key at the front desk was unusual from other places we stayed. Since the desk is 24/7 it was not difficult to get the key or turn it in when needed.

Everything! Location, staff (Hugo Kanemoto) was absolutely fantastic with helping out and make us feel so welcoming. He gave us some really good tips on where to go, how to go there, providing easy map instruction, he even went with us at the mall to show our kids toys rus (Japan toys section) and help us with the translation Next to the hotel. It was a privilege to meet him. There was also Mikesa (might have an error with spelling, sorry) who spend an hour doing origami with us one evening. The place is comfortable, beautiful and you can borrow so many thing from the front desk. Kids had fun one night to borrow Nintendo switch. Very delicious local restaurant beside. Must try! 7 min walk from the Kyoto station. 2 min walk from the mall (there is a nice VS Park at Neon Mall for the kids on level 4). Walking distance to a beautify temple, park, aquarium and railway museum. Would definitely go again.

By far the most spacious and comfortable hotel we had in Japan. A bedroom with 2 double beds, excellent for a family of 4, and a roomy Japanese style living area ( option to add futons for larger families) with dining table and fully equipped kitchen. The washing machine in the room was very convenient. Everything was spotless clean. Great location: walking distance from the Shinkansen station, within 5 minutes walking from buses to the all Kyoto sites, and near dozens of restaurants. Staff were friendly.

The entrance to the hotel is not very appealing. The lobby has an unpleasant smell from cleaning detergents.

The hotel is only a short walk from Kyoto station and a shopping mall, yet is tucked away in a quiet residentional area. There are numerous small restaurants around frequented by locals. The apartment was clean, comfortable and spacious. The second bedroom was quite separate, giving our grandchildren personal space. Having a clothes drier as well as a washing machine was a bonus. The hotel welcomes families with children, yet the apartment was quiet. There are toys and games to borrow. The staff were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. They were happy to help with reserving restaurants and activities. We were sad to leave.

Staff were all smiles and eager to be of service. They were all very helpful and made us feel at home with their hospitality. Location was excellent, next to a big shopping mall and within walking distance to key attractions. Rooms were spacious and clean. I loved the common dining/living space where our family could just take out food and eat it at the hotel. We all felt safe during our stay. Will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Kyoto. They took the time to write me a birthday note and leave me a small but much appreciated gift. My son enjoyed borrowing toys from the lobby. Many 24 hour convenience stores and food/drinking options nearby. Local pubs also are a stone's throw away. Please keep up the excellent service I would love to see your hotel grow, thrive and maintain its standard of hosting guests. Arigatou Gozaimas Glanz Kei Staff -Mr Franco

Very convenient location as it is 5-10mins away from the train station and close by is a supermarket, spacious apartment and has all the facilities - large dining area with TV, nice kitchen and fridge and also washing machine available. Toilet and bathroom are separated. Bathroom is very good - has many features which can only be experienced in Japan :)

When we arrived, the 2 beds were still dirty from the previous stay. There was hair and lots of other stuff on the bedsheets -- so we had to go down to ask for new bedsheets and change the beds ourselves.

The hotel is located very close to Kyoto Station. It is a two minute walk to Aeon Mall, which has dozens of places to eat in their 4F food hall as well as some great shopping especially for kids and teens. The convenience store is a five minute walk away, as is the closest taxi pick up centre (MK Taxis). We arrived quite early in the morning but the hotel very kindly minded our baggage while we went out for our first day in Kyoto. We left Kyoto at 5pm, and reception keep an eye on our bags until 4:30pm so we could enjoy a full final day in Kyoto as well. We got some great sightseeing tips from the reception staff. Nothing was too much trouble. I also loved that there was a whole bunch of stuff that you could borrow to make the stay more comfortable. From baby goods like high chairs and plates and bowls through to hair straighteners, make up mirrors, games and books, there was nothing we needed that we couldn’t find. The room itself was incredibly well laid out and very well presented. The washing machine and bathroom drying was much appreciated after two weeks of holidays! There is a coin laundry about 100m from the hotel, but every time we went past it was packed, so we relied on the washing machine and bathroom drying facilities only. We could buy bath bombs and washing powder for clothes at reception for a nominal price. The internet worked really well and I was able to make video calls for work without glitching or any trouble.

The neighbourhood is very light (as in lots of street lamps) so it is quite bright even during the night. The room never really goes dark, so if this is something that affects your sleep, you may want to make sure you have an eye mask (or nab one from the plane!). The room didn’t have any windows that could open right up so it was hard to check the weather before we left the room. I think if I were staying a little longer I would request a room facing the road do that I had window looking out.

Location, location, and the staff were super friendly. Yugo was super friendly and was very knowledgeable about the area and all the attractions in kyoto. As we were the first guests ever to visit from Fiji 🇫🇯 He made up a flag of our nation and took pictures of us as a memory for the hotel to keep on their wall. Fantastic idea for a boutique hotel. Rooms were clean and tidy as well. The hotel has a rental free corner of things you could borrow in the hotel during your stay.. Such as body products, toiletries, kids' diapers, and bathing lotion to condiments and all cooking sauces and airfryers and rice cookers, etc. Overall, I could not fault this little boutique hotel
