The room was recently renovated to a high standard, very clean and had everything we needed. The staff spoke excellent English and it was very good value for money.

We didn’t realise that you had to pay Kyoto city tax (200yen/night per person) before the stay, which could be why we had to pay at the property rather than online. Perhaps this could be added more clearly when booking via booking.com.

Breakfast buffet was lovely and varied, with staff v friendly Robes provided in room (but not pyjamas) Very comfortable, stylish and well planned room with plenty of USB ports, sockets etc and great washroom area with separate toilet, sink and shower. Location - station is v walkable even with a wheely suitcase, and airport bus also accessible without stairs. Fantastic coffee bags in room hospitality drawer. So many hotels in Japan only offer tea/green tea.

Because it's posh, the mood lighting makes it hard for older eyes to see anything! 😄 TV channels v limited. Would be good to have eg YouTube that most nationalities can use to access home content Lots of guest turnover meant at times the two Reception staff were a little overrun. They were very professional despite this.

The Mecure is an excellent hotel, funky style without being over the top. The staff were excellent, polite and spoke great English. The room was very well presented, everything was well designed and felt a slightly special. The bathroom was nice with recessed lighting in the shower and a great sliding door that didnt take up space when opening. The bathroom amenities were of good quality. The bed was comfortable and the room size was great. The nEspresso was appreciated as was the water refreshed everyday. Highly recommend this hotel.

Although the room was a good size, there wasnt a good space for 2 luggages and the luggage rack is better suited for sitting to put shoes on. As we still like to keep neat in the room, desk drawers are appreciated but werent provided. The bedside table had controls for the lights but it was hard to put phones and other stuff on at night. It is farther from the station than expected which means the name Kyoto Station is misleading. Its a good 10 min walk especially with luggage. The main entrance is on the back street rather than on the main road. The afternoon tea between 2 and 5 isnt really worth it other than the alcoholic drinks on hand but no beers.

The hotel was in a quiet area. Love the interior decorations. Large and clean room with all amenities. Family mart was just nearby. Excellent breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Was able to extend check out time to 12 noon from 11 am and did not have to to pay anything by becoming and Accor member. The hotel was so close to Nishi Hongan-ji temple ( 2 mins walk ). The courtyard has beautiful Gingko biloba trees which was golden yellow in color in late autumn ( 8/12/23 ).

Nothing actually but perhaps the water pressure from the shower head could have been stronger.

I had a bad accident at the airport upon arrival and Ms Murakami was so helpful to me and my friends in getting an appointment at a clinic connected with a hospital that could handle the emergency surgery I needed. She also provided a wheelchair and stool for some mobility within the hotel room. The hotel seemed clean and comfortable, but I can’t provide detail beyond that. What I can say is that the hotel provided me with staff, and especially with Ms. Murakami, who can provide excellent care even in emergency situations. You can really feel that they care about you.

Couldn’t experience much due to my situation.

I used the hotel as my base and did day trips to a number of locations. I’d read reviews that the hotel was a fair distance from Kyoto station, but in reality I found it to be an easy flat 10 minute walk each way. I doubt Kyoto taxis drivers would accept such a short fare as it would only cost ¥600-700. The decor in the hotel reception and restaurant is not at all what you’d expect from a Mercure, but very welcoming. This attention to detail flowed through to the functional but very nicely decorated room. The bed was super comfortable which was so important after a busy day sightseeing, and the amenities were great, especially the Nespresso machine. Beautiful large shower cubicle, great connectivity and gorgeous sleep inducing linens made the room just what I was hoping for. Everything was replaced and meticulously made up each day by the lovely housekeeping staff.

Rooms were large, clean and well designed, bed was very comfortable, staff were exceptionally helpful and kind as well as generous-2 days before we were supposed to leave we found out typhoon was coming so train to Tokyo was about to get cancelled-as a result we had to leave one day earlier than we booked. Reception staff and manager refunded us for that whole day as it was not our fault we had to leave early. Something like this never happened to me in any hotel around the world and just shows kindness and ethical standards of Japanese culture and people which cannot be found anywhere in the western world that is filled with greed. Therefore, I will gladly stay again at this superb hotel when I go back to Kyoto, and I will in the future. Greetings to staff, 5 stars!

perhaps breakfast waiters could be more relaxed about timing/end of service for the day.

This is one of the nicest and unique hotels I have ever stayed out. The ambience of the property as well as the room were extremely comfortable and cozy. The staff was very friendly and fast, highly recommend for those staying in Kyoto. The hotel restaurant was also exceptional and had better Italian food than I’ve had in other western counties.

Booked a twin room because we wanted a bathtub. Thought it was weird that the rooms with a queen bed did not have any bathtub. Was a bit odd for couples. Some rooms did not have a view at all since the room faced another building or wall.

The breakfast was really good, especially the bread that was baked on-site. I couldn't eat enough of them. Standard espresso machine, but much better than the coffee made in American hotels. Hotel decor was really well done, one of the prettiest lobbies I've seen, lots of style. Rooms were also very nice and quiet. I would absolutely stay again and would try the French Mercure chain's hotels in other cities.

I guess in relation to how nice the hotel was, the staff was good, but I had more personal service at other hotels, though I think if I had any issues, they would have done everything to resolve them. There just wasn't any engagement with them.

A very nice hotel close to the main station. We walked with our luggage to the hotel and that was not very far. The entrance is on the road in the back of the hotel. The rooms are very nicely appointed and have all essentials. There is a restaurant in the hotel if you prefer European food. Staff is helpful and friendly. Luggage forwarding is available, which is a very nice service that we did not recognize earlier.

Bit hard to place two large open suitcases in the room but not impossible. Nothing much to improve.
