We have a great staying experience in TUNE STAY KYOTO. The room is tidy and clean, the bed is sooooo comfortable, and the bathroom is clean with a separate shower and toilet. The location is very close to Kyoto station, around 5 mins. Therefore, it is very convenient to visit any place in Kyoto or even visit 宇治 or 奈良。 They even have a cozy library, where you can chill and relax, and a self-serve kitchen where you can cook or enjoy a simple breakfast with a cup of tea or coffee. As a foreigner who cannot speak Japanese, the staff at the counter of TUNE STAY KYOTO really save our life. They speak good English, so there are no worries about communication or asking any questions if any. Thus, we had a good experience starting from checking in till checking out of the hotel.

Such a great location! There is so much to do around this area and it’s so easy to get to the trains to get elsewhere in Kyoto. The hotel room was surprisingly bigger than I thought and it was clean and fresh. The lobby is also gorgeous and the Staff was so helpful and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again, no hesitation!
The only downside was the washer and dryer units. The room smelled of mold and the washer did not even clean my clothes. The unit said that it automatically dispensed detergent, but I doubt that. I even added a half packet incase it didn’t and they still came out semi dirty. The dryer didn’t work very well either.

- Staff service was excellent. Very helpful and can speak English very well. - The hotel put in great effort in making the common spaces very inviting and comfortable for people to mingle around. We love the library, screening area, dining areas. - Every night, they would screen a curated list of short films (at 9pm and 10pm) which adds a community touch to the place. - There are kitchen facilities which made it very convenient if you want to do simple dinners etc. - On New Year's eve, they even gave us each a cup of sake at the hotel reception area to celebrate during the countdown. - While the rooms were admittedly small, they were efficiently designed for space, and you could store your luggage under the bed. - Location wise, it's about 10mins walk to Kyoto station, with convenience stores and eateries close by the hotel.

Kyoto Station’s multiple exits were confusing, but once you get familiar with the area, the walk to the station is within 10 minutes (crossing only 1 main street). There is a 24h Japanese fast food chain (Nakau) right next to the hotel, and a family mart nearby. The room (we stayed the Bunk Bed option) is small but cleverly designed to save space and is very clean. Bed and pillows are soft and comfortable.
The hotel might want to consider getting water dispensers on each floor/ some floors. Currently there is only one drinking tap located in the basement’s shared kitchen. It is hard to open the luggage due to the limited space as well, but I doubt there is anything the hotel can do. There is no daily housekeeping, only 1 full clean (at your choice of date) if you stay more than 3 nights. There is the option of putting your used towels and robes at a basket near the lift and retrieving fresh ones nearby, so this was not a huge issue for me.

The location is super close to Kyoto station, they have basement kitchen that we can cook our own food. I especially like the short movie program and the book collections, they have also popcorn during the movie time.
I wish Tune Stay has more choice of movie of the short film. I actually pretty often go to Tune Stay maybe twice or 4 times in a year and I recognize, they play similar movie. I wish tune stay has more movie collection to be played. I feel that in winter on this December, the basement area is pretty cold, so I wish if it has more heating in that area, people will feel comfortable to eat and stay at that area.

Really beautiful and large common areas, specially the spacious library which doubles up as a theater. They have movie nights! Loved the kitchen-dining area (at B1) that everyone can use. Provided a decent smoking area outside the hotel. Was really surprised in the excellent use of space in an otherwise compact room, such as having space underneath the bed to store your luggage. A lot of restaurants and bars in the neighborhood as well as konbinis close by. Some notable temples are also just a few minutes walk away. Added bonus: almost all of the front office staff know how to speak good English and are all very helpful.
While we appreciated having laundry facilities in the hotel, however we did not like that the dryer’s time is at ¥100 but only for 3 minutes 😞 so to completely dry your clothes, you need to keep adding more ¥

Great location 5-10 mins away from Kyoto train station. Helpful and friendly staff. Room itself is clean and has a small area to put a suitcase; the sink is separate from the toilet but the toilet itself was fairly spacious despite the small room size. There's a small bar which has a variety of gins - I ordered a gin tasting flight and was impressed with the number of gins on offer. Also, there are short films screened every evening which are worth a watch
All clean pajamas / towels made available in centrally located areas e.g. lift lobby - however as these are common/shared areas, uncertain how clean the towels really are...

Tune stay is wonderfully located, and has a charming look within the street. It's not far from the station, and allows easy access to plenty of the popular attractions through bus, metro, or even walking! The room is small yet intuitively divided. This means you'll still find plenty of space to pack and store your luggage or even hang your clothing. They provide an easy to use washer if you need to do some laundry, and there's even a spotless clean kitchen for those looking to cook for themselves. Immensely clean, modern and practical. The team is also super diverse, meaning you can be helped in plenty of languages including english. Helps to mention they are incredibly kind.
The mattress is somewhat hard. If you have back problems you might want to consider using a thick blanket as underlaying layer. A few amenities are also only on demand, however that served no problem for me.

Tune Stay is a great place to stay in Kyoto. It is very close to the Kyoto train station so you are close to a lot of restaurants, stores and supermarkets. There are several bus lines to popular destinations in Kyoto and there are two great temples nearby that you can visit on foot. The staff are all very nice and helpful. The library section is amazing. There are so many Kyoto-related books you can just read. The shared kitchen area is also very nice. I made dinner every day when I stayed there. The standard double room exceeded my expectations vs. the price you pay. It is a good size Japanese standard room. There is storage under the bed where you can put your suitcase. There is a small desk for computer work. Overall the room is very good for the price you pay. I also booked the bathroom service they provided. There is a big one and a small one. It is quite available and you will get a bath salt when you book the bathroom. The big room even comes with a Dyson hairdryer.
nothing. This place is perfect. I want to try their Hide Out next time.

Even though the spacing is small (as mentioned in hotels description) the space for us did not feel as tight knit as expected. The room has space under the bed to put away suitcases and the beds were a great size and were very comfortable. The staff were great and very accommodating, they also offered to store our suitcases if we felt that the room was too small with them inside.
There wasn’t as many amenities available compared to other hotels we said at while in Japan. Some of the items that were available were in the room but the rest you had to request at the front desk if needed.
