Everything about our stay was superb. The hotel is located right next to the station of Kyoto, however, the neighbourhood is so quiet it feels like being teleported to a countryside village in the middle of the Japanese mountains. Room size was enormous, we had more than enough space. Bathroom was also extremely big and spacious. The room came in fully equipped, with even a boiler, microwaves, full-on stoves and ceramic cups. Many amenities were provided, including a traditional Japanese pyjama. Staff was the kindest. Overall, our stay was delightful and it almost felt like being in an actual ryokan.

Room service was not provided for the entire length of the stay, however, we did not mind at all, and towels per person per day were already to be found in the room. An extra tax of around 10 000 Y had to be paid in cash at the hotel, which we were unaware of. However, the rest was perfect.

This hotel was around a 10-15 min walk from the JR Kyoto Station. The reception area is pretty small, but we didn't need much from there. The receptionist checked us in really easily. I loved the size of the bathroom. It was a perfect size for a bathroom and quite literally the biggest one we've had in our numerous trips to Japan. It has a small area for the toilet, as well as a wet shower area that came with the traditional Japanese shower+stool and a bathtub. I was very impressed with the room as well as the cleanliness that came with it. The rooms were also of decent size. A great tip is to use the Yamato luggage service that is around the corner. It helped us tremendously because we had 5 luggage and 2 people only. The area around is quiet as well, and the konbini marts are close by, along with a few restaurants.

The only thing that was strange for us was when we came back, we could smell the scent of someone's sweat in our room (with a hint of cigarette). We do not smoke, and this happened after we left the hotel for several hours so it couldn't be either of us. Additionally, it wasn't a cleaning day, so no one should have accessed our room for that day. It was worrying, because our belongings were not secured neatly and safely. It was very strange

Clean and spacious room with a bath tub. We had a comfortable stay. We had to drop off our lugguages in the separate facility before check in time. Staff were super friendly, they delivered our lugguages to our room upon checked in.

Required a little bit of walk for food, subway, convenient store etc, not a lot of shops around.

The location is strategic, around 15-20 minute walk from Kyoto Station. The place was so incredibly quiet and serene, and is probably the best fit for travellers looking to escape the city but still want to remain connected to it. The peace maintained around the area helps travellers to have a pleasant day/ night rest. The room and bed were large, the facilities were well-maintained and were kept in top condition as well. I received incredible assistance and guidance, and had lovely conversations with the hotel staff, especially the extremely amicable and friendly female/ lady receptionist Hong, who I am utterly grateful for. Other staff were also so helpful with all my questions, and even went out of their way to help out at wee morning hours. I think choosing this hotel as my stay was one of the best decisions I made on this trip.

Probably due to summer, there was a lingering damp scent in the external hall (before room entrance). It was not that serious, but it was noticeable for anyone with a sensitive nose. I also noticed a bit of dust in the probably unused part of the room, such as the corner bedside table, and the windowpane.

We were only 5 minutes walking from bus stops that would connect us with the major attractions in Kyoto. The train station was too far to walk so we took taxis and buses to get there. The room had enough space for 2 people, but was well equipped with pots and pans and an electric water pot, and storage space. The bath had plenty of amenities, and even a television built into the bathtub. The staff was always helpful, whether it was getting a taxi or directions. This was also a very good value. We highly recommend this hotel.

There were only a few restaurants nearby. We wished for a slighty more spacious room, as most hotels in Japan tend to be cramped.

It is easily accessible, has good facilities, and has a nice neighborhood. The laundry was a good perk, but the dryers in Japan are not great. Staff was a bit weary of tourists, but if you follow the rules, they don't bother you. Not having tea in the room was a little odd, but overall, I think it was the best choice for the Kyoto trip.

They only clean your room if you stay more than 6 days... if you want to do it before day 6, they charge ~¥4000 yen to do this service. The heating was hard to decipher and was either hot or cold, but if you needed an additional blanket, it was an extra charge. Kyoto also has a city tax that is on top of the rate of the room. I think these details need to be more explicit when you book... this could deter some travelers. At the very least, you should keep in mind that the sticker price may not be the full picture.

I recently had a delightful stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it for several reasons. Firstly, the room was very clean, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The heater in the room worked efficiently, ensuring a cozy stay during the chilly weather. Another thing that we like was the separate heater in the bathroom. The provision of towels, toothbrushes, and slippers added to the overall convenience. I appreciated the complimentary tea and coffee available in the lobby. The staff members were exceptionally kind and accommodating, making the overall experience even more enjoyable. The room was also spacious enough for all our things. Finally, the location was also near Kyoto station making the commute better.

Breakfast was a pod coffee maker. There was a small sitting area where one could consume the coffee without taking it back into the room. The hotel was clean, although beware that they change sheets and towels only every few days. The furniture and bathrooms looked new, which suggests that the rooms have been recently remodelled (as of June 2023). The hotel is quiet because it is in an old Kyoto residential area where the streets are barely the width of a single car. Yet it is only a 10+ minute walk to Kyoto station. With this location, the room rates are very reasonable.

It can be something of a challenge to hoist a heavy suitcase over the 1.5-ft threshold in the room that separates the area where one takes off one's shoes from the rest of the room where one must walk in socks.

Everything about this place was fantastic. Room size, help and services, staff, cleanliness and all the facilities available in the room. Of particular interest was the unexpected traditional bathroom complete with mirror, chair, bathtub and a small digital TV to view whilst soaking away! The room has a nice traditional styling to it. Well worth the price. Going to a conventional hotel afterwards made us miss Stay Sakura Kyoto Matsuri. I would definitely stay with them again.

To no fault of the hotel itself, the location was in a somewhat awkward location, somewhat far (several minutes walk) from any major eateries and a combini convenience store. Although a slight negative point, the positive side of this is that the hotel was in a lovely residential district which was quiet and well away from any hustle and bustle.

Though the hotel is small but the rooms are big enough for a comfy stay. It only takes around 8mins to walk to the Kyoto station. Most importantly, the dryer in the bathroom is really very useful in drying our socks and clothes during the night when we are sleeping. Next day, they were all dry. Hotel staff are all friendly and helpful. Value for money too. Will strongly recommend it.

There are no hooks in the bathroom, hence can't hang our clean clothes while bathing. Nevertheless, this will not deter me from stsying there again.
