Japanese style breakfast and dinner were amazing - delicious, fresh and healthy! Different main dishes and side dishes every day made us look forward to meal time! Hotel owner also went out of his way to pick us up during a snowstorm and welcomed us with a full dinner at 11pm on our arrival day. Great location for ski-in-ski-out. Hotel lobby is tastefully designed, has complimentary coffee/ tea, and a beautiful view of Shiga Kogen. Went during peak ski season and the hotel did not feel packed at all. It was a truly enjoyable stay.

Outdoor onsen for women does not have a view (probably for privacy reasons).

Location was very good for skiing. Ski room locker directly opened onto slopes and the top of gondola was steps away when returning on the last lift. Have stayed here before and the private onsen room includes a private dining room with full multi course Japanese meals. These Japanese meals are very traditional and not for the western palate but are a great experience for the adventurous. The normal rooms and shared dining work but the private dining is the real treat and why I booked. The shared onsen is also very good but maybe not great if it was busy - we were the only ones there and the sauna and outdoor pool were a bonus. If the private onsen room doesn't make too big a dent in your wallet and you want to experience traditional Japanese dining then go for it.

The place is a bit old and out of the way and showing its age. If you don't like traditional Japanese food there are no other options and you will be disappointed - maybe somewhere with dining options like Ichinose would be better. There is no entertainment but we were a family and didn't need any apart from skiing. It might be difficult for you if you can't speak Japanese and have to use Google translate all the time. We can speak a bit of Japanese and my son is fluent.

The food, the onsen and the ski drying rooms were very nice. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Skis can be rented at the hotel. We didn't arrange this beforehand, but it would have been better for the staff to have done so.

The ski in ski out was great, but you should know that the lift to the top from the hotel only opens at 9am. You can ski down to a lift that opens earlier.

We stayed in both the older and newer/renovated rooms. The newly/renovated room was fantastic (50% more expensive though). Food was excellent, location near the gondola was wonderful and the staff (wife/husband managers) were incredibly accommodating and helpful. Would definitely return.

The older rooms really should be renovated.

The service at this property was amazing. Not only were they very friendly but they also went above and beyond in many instances where we had trouble due to heavy snow. Definitely would recommend to anyone staying in Shiga Kogen and wanting to relax.

Traditional Japanese breakfasts and dinner. Fantastic views from hotel. Close to gondala's 15 and 16. Superb large room with own onsen and massage chair. Very quiet.

No-where else close to drink or eat in the evening. Very quiet.

Spent a bit more than we usually would on accommodation, we had our private Onsen and own massage chair in our room. We had the best time and everything was amazing. Definitely coming back to stay again.

The private onsen. The room is big!

The washing machine in the coin laundry area is not too clean.
