The location of Hotel Monterey is great. An easy walk to Osaka Station, and considering you're surrounded by 5-star hotels, it was a bargain to stay here. The facilities were spotlessly clean, there's a mini refrigerator in the room if you want to bring your own food, an electric kettle, a small closet, tv, and desk. In addition to toiletries, they provide complimentary water, coffee, tea, and my unexpected favorite- pajamas!

The only small trouble I had was figuring out how to turn off the overhead light. The electricity to the room is activated by inserting the room key into a slot by the door, but there was no switch for the overhead light. Turns out, it was a button on the night table that turned it off, but the sign was only in Japanese so it took some guessing.

Outside was a modern high rise building in keeping with surroundings but inside quaint European decor in lobby. Rooms also had an old world feel but all amenities in clean rooms were in great condition Walking distance from Osaka Station so excellent location & easy access transport hub train/ light rail/ metro/ bus.

Shower is nice but the shower head holder is not very user friendly (every time inserting the shower head into the holder, it will rotate and move, getting everywhere wet). Carpet could be cleaner.

If taking the bullet train back from Osaka or Kyoto this hotel is a 12 minute walk from the stop "BEFORE" Tokyo station. So get off at Shinagawa station and just walk 12 minutes to this hotel. Which is nice if you are flying out of Haneda airport to go home. From this hotel you can walk 9 minutes up to the Tokyo Metro and go one stop to "Mita" station which has great food options and can take the train to Haneda airport (one of the trains turns into the Keikyu Line). Nice hotel, great staff, comfy rooms and bed.

Not the best of food options in the area. Walk 9 minutes up to the Tokyo Metro and go one stop to Mita station (Go out exit A3 and turn left at the top of the stairs (turning right you'll see the JR railway station) but turn left (top of the stairs) and left again outside and walk straight down a small street lined up with food options that leads to the main street and once you turn right on the main street = TOKYO TOWER money shot! Best view of it in all of Tokyo.

The hotel had a old European style charm to it. Relatively close to Osaka station. The reception was excellent service wise helping us with luggage transfers.

The rooms were a little dated. The telephone on the bedside table took up a lot of room and easily could've have been placed on the desk instead. Dusty underneath the bed. You could hear the trains from the room but it was not noisy. A bit of a longer walk than expected from Osaka station, and the walk is quite decent to the subway stations to get to the tourist areas near Namba.

The decor and cleanliness was excellent. We were particularly impressed with the recreation of the church. The single beds were large and comfortable and we liked the options of both firm and soft pillows. It's very close so the airport limousine bus stop and train stations and the lady at check in was very helpful.

The rooms were very small, and once we had two suitcases in the room it was hard to walk around.

This hotel is located closing to Osaka station and easy to get to shopping mall around umeda. Just for 10 mins walk to the station to catch the train to the airport. I rent a car during stay at the hotel , the car parking charge is reasonable price and easy to park there. The staffs are helpful! Plenty of restsurant , supermarket and others shops.

The hotel is located very close to Umeda, Osaka. There are many department stores near the hotel, which is very convenient for shopping. The hotel is an old Western-style building, and you can take many beautiful photos here. The service staff are very helpful and friendly. One of our passengers lost his passport on JR. The front desk staff helped us communicate with JR and retrieve the lost passport. I will recommend this hotel to others.

Before checking in, I knew that the room was not very spacious, but most Japanese hotels are similar, so as expected, there was nothing I disliked.

Good location for exploring Osaka & surroundings, being close to the train station & subway lines. Underground walk way connects hotel to the train & subway station. Hotel has a lot of flair with antiquated European decor & rebuild medieval chapel on the reception floor.

Rooms are « Tokyo size », i.e. fitting a double bed, a desk, a small wardrobe and a bathroom with tub. Hardly space to down a suitcase or two. Compared to other Japanese hotels, the bathroom was rather small - European size. Staff was friendly, but less helpful than at other hotels in Japan.

The olde world elegance of decor were tasteful and made for relaxation. I loved the plush waiting room/ lobby on 8th floor. The staff were extremely patient and accommodating and kind. I liked how close it was to Umeda station and the airport limo bus stop. For a major city, the price was fabulous.

I had 11/2 hours to fill in before my flight after an exhausting day. The staff were kind about leaving my pack and using the waiting lounge but I asked for a bottle of water, even to buy it and staff could not provide same. I think a coffee and tea facilities there would be a lovely welcome touch. That area was well- used so I’m sure many people would appreciate that special touch.
