The location was in a very safe and convenient location. Not only was there a ton of food options near by, but it was very walkable and the area around the inn was very peaceful. I also enjoyed the attentiveness of the staff and how sincere they were. Also, I really appreciate how the doors in the rooms locked! A small detail, but I actually wasn't expecting them to (thinking of something similar to a hostel or capsule), so that was a bonus.

I think this is a great location for solo or younger travelers, since you will need to share bathroom and vanity spaces. I did not really mind this, but could see it being an issue for some. Also, since it is an older building, the walls are thin, so you will hear people walking up and down the stairs and such. Again, not really an issue, but something to keep in mind.

the property was so warm and welcoming, both in terms of the staff and facilities. very authentic and comfortable bedroom space with everything you need on the same floor or just downstairs - showers, laundry, fresh coffee in the morning. location is ideal, just a short walk away from train stations heading towards Shibuya. lots of restaurants, bars, cafes nearby and a 7/11 just around the corner. there is also a great ramen place recommended by Chikako across the street definitely worth visiting! the owners and staff are so friendly and really make you feel at home, I was staying here for 4 nights before moving to a different hotel and I wish I had booked for longer! Will definitely return when I’m back in Tokyo and could not recommend staying here more.

We loved the fact that this is a family owned Ryokan in the heart of Tokyo that has been in the same family for 70 years. It was very traditional and the staff was lovely and very considerate. We had a traditional breakfast that was very Japanese and slept on some futon. The children had a very spacious room on the first floor and we had a tiny room on the second floor which was not big but it worked for the two of us. The area is not very touristy but lovely made of small older houses which is nice and not something you can easily find in Tokyo.

The showers are on the ground floor which makes it a bit hard but the showers themselves were nice and clean even though shared. The beds which are futon are very traditional so not very comfortable, I was fine but my husband had back pain. It was quite hard to dine out for a family of 5 and I think would recommend on booking prior or getting hotel staff to assist for larger family. I however think it is past of the experience and traditional Japanese culture and really enjoyed it 😊

Lovely stay in a traditional ryokan. The staff is so lovely and helpful! The neighbourhood is really nice and quiet, with shops and restaurants. The subway is very close. Although the toilet and showers are in common, we didn't have to wait much to use them and had no issues at all. There's a very big sink+mirror outside the toilet, which was really useful. The futons are very comfy, the room is a bit small, but cozy. There's a lounge downstairs where you can relax and enjoy tea and coffee for free. A member of the staff walked us to a bus station to catch our bus to the airport, we really appreciated it!!! Will definitely stay there again. Thank you!

No elevator, our room was at the third floor, but the host helped us with our heavy luggage when we arrived. Taxi to the airport is very expensive, but there's a bus station 10 mins away with buses to both airports.

Great location in a quiet residential neighbourhood with nearby subway stations. Staff were lovely and let me check in early at 12pm. The twin room was perfect to stay alone but probably a squeeze for two people. The breakfast was only a small extra cost and so delicious.

Very thin walls (as expected) so no soundproofing and cold, even with the heat pump on full blast. The windows also let in a lot of light so my room was quite bright at night due to the streetlights outside. No lift so I had to drag my suitcase up to the third floor, but they say they are renovating the place in January and getting an elevator installed👍

it was an amazing place and really cool ryokan vibes. If you like traditional style ryokan i think this is a good place to try out. The amenities provided were abundant and the staff were extremely helpful. My friends were in tokyo disneyland and had to do a late check in but just messaging the ryokan on booking.com they responded efficiently and waited for us to come even at late hours to guide us! The entire inn is extremely clean and well maintained!

Everything! We stayed in the Japanese-style quadruple room and was very spacious for us 2! The decor is beautiful and the futon beds are actually incredible! I slept way better than anticipated. There’re amazing restaurants nearby, location is in this cosy neighbourhood - not a place I’d have thought we’d enjoy spend our evenings instead of the most hyped and touristy areas! A big mention goes to the lovely staff member at the front desk (I’m so sorry I forgot your name!). He took the time to write suggestions of places to eat around the area and for the remaining of our time in Tokyo! He was the sweetest person, super helpful. He’s in his early 20s, so if this you, thank you so much!!

I liked everything so N/A

The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, & really went above and beyond to make my trip to Japan a wonderful experience. For example, I mentioned to the manager that I had an interest in tea, & she knew a local tea ceremony teacher, contacted him on my behalf, and was able to arrange a private tea ceremony lesson during my visit. It was the highlight of my trip!

No dislikes. And I am quite picky about the places I stay. I did not have a single complaint about this ryokan. It was a wonderful place to stay. Quiet, clean, comfortable, close to public transit, & safe (which was important to me, because I am a woman & I was traveling alone).

We only stayed 1 night, but this was our last and favorite hotel of our 2-week trip. We were in the annex, which was all brand new and so pretty. The room was large, so we could spread out and the beds were really comfortable. They warn you that the walls are thin, but the neighborhood is quiet and I didn't hear the other guests. The japanese breakfast was large and excellent-miso soup, fish, rice, pickled veg, salad. What also sets this hotel apart are the hosts, who are so friendly and kind. FYI, there's a Japanese omekase restaurant (not affiliated with the hotel) in between the main building and the annex. We splurged and had dinner there, which was also a lovely experience. Chef Sano told us that the restaurant was reservation only, but he tries to accommodate Ito Ryokan guests if they ask. Fabulous ending to our trip!

Nothing.

The room exceeded my expectations! It was my first time staying at a 'traditional Japanese' hotel (Ryokan) and it was what I had envisioned. I was worried there would be no amenities but there were! We had toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothbrush set, vanity set, etc.),slippers, two types of Japanese teas and coffee in the room with a water pot and tea set. The room was extremely clean and spacious enough for the two of us that stayed. Breakfast was included with my room and it was a traditional Japanese breakfast with several small dishes, a fish and rice. It was delicious, especially on my second day! Again, something I've always wanted to experience and it was great. The location was in a quiet area, especially at night. However, there were plenty of restaurants within 5-10mns walk and a subway station ~10mns, which was very convenient to getting all around Tokyo and beyond. I loved my first experience staying at a Ryokan and would absolutely stay again!

A later checkout policy would be nice. Check was 10am. Most hotels have 11am/12pm checkout so if this property could do have a slightly later checkout policy that would be great. We had breakfast at 9am and had to checkout out by 10am so we had to rush through our breakfast and wrap up our packing so we could leave by 10am. We did ask for an 11am checkout but it was not possible.
