It's a very good place to stay. The environment is quiet, the hotel area is very clean. The room is very very small, but the furniture and appliances placement are great so it's still comfortable to do things inside the room. For the room of this size, the bathroom is spacious enough. The hot spring on the rooftop is a nice facility this hotel has. A feeling of being on the rooftop while soaking in a warm water is great. Especially when it's windy. There's also a convenient store nearby, so if you want to buy a drinks / snacks you can just walk for a minute to get there.

Because the room size is very small and the bathroom is quite spacious, the bedroom is very small. If you bring two or more big luggage, you'll have a hard time putting them in your room. I ended up putting one of them behind the door, for the price of the door not being able to be opened fully. The hot spring on the rooftop is actually nice, but I think it's just a tap water. I don't feel / smell anything more than just a normal water. I'm not sure though. The hotel is located on a residential area, it's quiet, but it also requires you to walk for at least 500-700m before you get to the nearest restaurant / shopping area. Of course there are some restaurant & store nearby, but they're not the tourist-friendly ones.

The location was excellent, very close to subways and main station where we were arrived directly from the Narita Airport. Walkable distance from Ueno and Asakusa stations. The room had everything necessary and hot tub on the roof was a great bonus.

I didn’t like the schedule for using a hot tub on the roof, since it had female and male time, male’s time was much better such as afternoon and late night, when we usually used to come back after long day of joy and shopping. Females time: extremely early mornings and early evenings, when you are sleeping or still somewhere in the city. I think you can change this options from week to week for giving same option for women.

The room is good, clean and neat. The size is decent, it is excepted to have a not so big room in Tokyo. It is as excepted.

The location of the hotel is a bit far from the train station. It is in the middle of a residential area, takes around 15 mintues to walk from the main JR station on both side, also to main dining outlet.

If you can see this review, just go ahead and book a room here. Out of all the budget hotels I've stayed at in Japan, Kin Hotel is pretty much right at the top. The hotel's in great condition, the room I had (large single room) was actually quite spacious by Japanese standards, and though it's got a unit bathroom it was at least incredibly clean and well maintained. It's in a quiet section of Taito-ku so noise from traffic isn't an issue, but Asakusa and Ueno are within an easy walking distance - Kappabashi dori is literally down the road too. BTW, if you're travelling solo then request room 904. I think it's a bit more expensive given it's on a high floor and is a large single rather than a regular single, but trust me on this. It'll be worth it.

Probably the only downside is that it's a little far from a train station. Both Asakusa Station and Tawaramachi Station are equidistant and are reasonably quick to walk to, but the closest major hub station, Ueno, is about a 20-25 minute walk. At least there aren't any hills in Taito-ku to deal with!

Good location near Asakusa and Senso-ji temple. A little bit of a walk to the Ueno station. Room was clean and comfortable but small. Bathroom was very clean and just big enough to be comfortable. Staff was friendly and the room was cleaned when requested by placing a sign outside of the door. There was a small stain in the sheets and the staff provided fresh set immediately when asked. No noise from other rooms, very quiet and private room.

Air condition was a little bit noisy because the room was so small which might be a problem during the summer. Bring earplugs!

Great boutique hotel in quiet residential area in between Ueno and Asakusa. Easy walking to train stations and local tourist spots. Loved the onsen on the roof! The room is small but light and very clean. Staff were pleasant on check in and during our stay. Outstanding service provided after we left as I had lost my wallet which was handed in to the police station and the hotel contacted me with information and support regarding this. Thank you!

It would have been nice to be able to look out of the window which was frosted. The hotel can be a bit tricky to find on foot as signage is low to the ground. Luckily I had a heads up on this so found it with no issues.

The hotel was super clean. Our room was next to the elavator but there was absolutely no noise pollution. Our room was small but comfortable. The bed was so comfy! There was a little hallway to put your shoes and the rest of the room had tatami flooring. There was a little stand for some pillows (so you could sit on the floor and work at the little stand), a fridge and a safe. The bathroom was standard dimensions for Japanese hotels (so it had a bathtub) but it was so much cleaner and more comfortable than other hotels we've been to. The staff was always kind and helpful. I used the rooftop bath once and really enjoyed it. The bath was about 40°C and clean. It was lovely to see the starry sky while bathing. We used the late checkout service and only paid 1000yen to check out an hour later.

The hotel was a good walk away from Ueno station (1km), and on the residential side of Ueno, so the nightlife (even restaurants etc too) was kind of meh. It wasn't a big deal to go to the other side of the station (commercial side) to go get food or anything, just a 1km walk.

Its only 15min walk to Ueno station and 20min to Asakusa station, the environment was quiet, the room was very clean, had a water cooker and a mini fridge, the onsen on the roof top was clean.

The room was pretty small, on the website picture it looked like you can have two separate single beds and still some space, and it showed on the website, that its ok for a couple with a kid, but in reality we slept with our kid in one bedframe with two mattresses, so one person could feel the gap and we had to squeeze in....So not recommended for families with one kid who are tall and have bigger bodies, for two people it would have been perfect.

Located 5min from Inaricho station and 15 from Ueno station. Staff very kind and polite, always ready to help you. The facility was quite new and very clean. Loved the view from my room.

I wasn’t told that I had to use a magnet hanged on the door in order to ask for my room to be cleaned. I’ve realized it only the last day when I saw it on someone else’s door.

It’s in a great location if you want to shop around Kappabashi Street and Asakusa. The employees are very friendly and speak English well. They were also accommodating when I needed to check out later than expected. I didn’t use the onsen, but I think it’s a cool feature that you might not get at other hotels in the area.

The bathroom was a little bit small, but I am short so it wasn’t too bad for me. It could be a deterrent for someone taller though.
