It is close to Tawaramachi station and within walking distance to the shopping streets, Sensoji Temple, and lots of restaurants. The room is big (better than getting a capsule) so it's easy to spread out your luggage. Staff is helpful and approachable, he would show you where everything is once you check in. Loved my stay there.

As it is an old place, everything creaks (when people walk around). Not a big thing if you're not a light sleeper. My room was mistakenly opened when I didn't lock it. Not sure if the other guest was looking for his room or the shower room. Perhaps a signage for the shower doors might help.

The Host was great, almost always available when we needed him. The rooms were large enough, and the futon beds were great. Only a 4 minute walk or so from transport, and located in a great neighborhood for site seeing, nightlife and general tourism.

Room insulation was poor, but the AC and bedding was sufficient. Toilets can be a little cramped for room, and the shower heads are rather low, but could be adjusted to suit your liking. Walls are quite thin and the floor creaks, but not major problems

The ryokan felt like a time piece. It was amazing and had such a wonderful, old, clean, wooden smell. It felt like staying in a well preserved, old, 100+ year old home. The floor creaked and the stairs were the kind of uneven that only comes from ancient buildings. Truly wonderful for someone looking to stay in a time piece. My husband totally fell in love with the place.

Perhaps I might have not heard correctly when told where they were, but I don't think we got towels. At the very least, we couldn't find towels, and had to just buy our own in town. Which--not that big of a complaint, the ones we bought were cheap and suuuuuuper soft!

Excellent location near the metro and tourist attractions, friendly staff, very interesting experience and atmosphere staying in a traditional house, bedding is warm and comfortable, facilities are adequate and clean. I was pleasantly surprised at how spacious the single room was. Overall I would recommend it.

Initially I thought the risk of being in an old building would be lack of sound-proofing between rooms, and had decided to chance it with earplugs. This was actually fine. However, the real challenge was sleeping on a vibration-prone floor, should the other guests decide to stomp about til an ungodly hour. As long as they don't, it's not an issue, and if you are a firm sleeper, or a late-night stomper yourself, do not let these things deter you (but please practice walking lightly), however I feel this should be noted for the particularly sensitive. Perhaps there could be some signage for the well-hidden showers, as another guest tried repeatedly to get into my room at midnight looking for them (proving that the door latch may look flimsy but is actually quite effective).

Stay here to have an authentic experience of Japanese traditional house. The helpful owner is able to commune with decent English. Sensoji, Sumida River and the view point of Tokyo Skytree are just around the corner. Taking photos of those places without any other visitors was very easy when staying here.

It is a discomfort to Malaysian when there is no bidet around toilet bowl. The floor board in the corridor creaks and cracks when walk upon, but that's the way of a traditional house. This is not a complaint, just to serve as a reminder to all the princes and princesses out there.

Lovely traditional Ryokan, perfect for an authentic experience. The room has air conditioning, so it gets quite comfortable even in winter. The owner was always very helpful and kept my luggage both before check in and after check out. Location is great, very close to the metro station and to the main Asakusa attractions. Many restaurants, cafes and convenience stores near by.

My room did not have windows and the sink to wash your hands / face only had cold water, but it was easily solvable by using the shower instead (which gets hot quickly and you can regulate the temperature). The comments about the noise are true, but I did not have any trouble sleeping

October 2023

Our stay at Taito Ryokan was 7 nights long and in the height of the summer heat (from 23rd August) The ryokan is a beautiful building with lovely wooden floors and windows, and traditional tatami rooms where we slept on futon under the air con. During our stay the communal bathroom was pretty quiet most of the time and the showers are located on a lower floor to the rooms and other bathroom. We appreciated Mr. Satoshi's daily routine of cleaning the communal spaces, although we didn't spend much time in them due to the extreme heat and the lack of air conditioning outside of the guests rooms. For this reason we would enter our room immediately after arriving home, greeted by Mr.Satoshi each time which is nice. The location of Taito Ryokan is excellent; we loved the Asakusa neighbourhood because it isn't too busy or central, but still has the city charm we loved. Conveniently located near multiple train station and bus stops (I loved the Tokyo buses, definitely use their system) Overall we had a great time at the Taito Ryokan in the privacy of our space room for three. Each room in our accommodation afterwards felt small in comparison! Thank you Mr.Satoshi and Asakusa.

There is a small space for hanging your clothes after doing your laundry so time your load accurately so there will be space for your clothing. The toilet room is quite small (the womens) although very clean and perfectly usable, just squishy

The value for the money is excellent, if you are traveling on the budget but still want a prime location. The Ryokan house from 1960s has great comfortable and cinematic vibe. I stayed in Winter and it was warm and cozy. The owner is helpful and kind. Out of city centre old Ryokan room stays, this is much better than average experience. Off the busy party streets but close enough to be walking distance from all train and subway lines and great day and night attractions.

1. Price Luckily I got very great price with cute room. 2. Location A few mins away from the Tawaramachi subway station and tourism places. Also, I have found amazing bakery, restaurants and supermarkets around with fantastic price. 3. Owner He can speak very great English and is willing to help. 4. Maintenance It’s old place but well managed. It’s good to have an experience what you can have only in Japan. I’m from Korea, and still the house looked very unique for me.

If the whole premise can be more ventilated, would be perfect.

The location is prime. The room itself covers all basic needs. The owner is super nice and chill. I had a good experience here and would stay here again. Nice place for solo traveler.

As the house is traditional, you can literally hear every foot steps in the house. So the downside is some guests walk very loudly at late night and early in the morning.
