Waking up on the first morning and viewing from the bed the sun rising on the sea and then able to walk out onto your own balcony and see the great expanse of the ocean. The bathroom was huge and generous in its fit-out. The whole room quietly spoke of a pared back design that still messaged good style and relaxed living. I didn't just "like" this hotel - I loved it.

Hard to find any faults. Price was good. Location excellent. Room was magnificent. The only glitch in the system was when we had encountered such wonderful, warm and engaging staff and then at check-out we had a very cold experience with a staff member (perhaps he was new and lacking confidence but he did border on rude). But this is a tiny, weeny little crack in an otherwise fantastic experience of the E & O Hotel.

The room was very spacious and nice, well furnished. It had a balcony and good sea views. Breakfast was also good, as expected in this kind of hotel: wide variety of good quality Eastern and Western options. Nice breakfast buffet. The gym was well equipped with different cardio machines (2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 1 bike) and a good range of dumbbells, I only missed a cable machine for rows :-) Swimming pool is long enough for laps and the setup is really beautiful looking to the sea. It was busier than the gym (empty the two times I used it), and we were unable to get lounge chairs by the pool all taken, so we had to sit by the bar tables. The hotel was within walking distance from all the must see and must eat in George Town which is enough to keep you busy on a weekend (the duration of our stay). Overall we had a very confortable stay.

The small details count... It was my birthday, and the booking was under my name, so they could have noticed (small detail they should look at) when registering with my passport at check in. A small note in the bedroom saying: "Happy Birthday" with two biscuits or two chocolates squares would have been a very nice touch.

The location was amazing especially the view from our room. The room was incredibly comfortable and I cannot think if anything that it was missing. It was absolutely perfect. The pool in particular was unsurpassed in anything I have experienced. I could have stayed there all day. The breakfast were superb and I cannot think of anything that could have made them better. I will definitely be recommending this hotel to my friends.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. Everything (besides the few things I'll mention below) was really great. Especially the bar, the gift shop, the Seaview balkony and the overall design of the rooms and facilities is great.

While the breakfast was very good and there were lots of choices there were two downsides: the coffee tastes terrible. There should be some kind of organization system for the staff to see which table is occupied and which one isn't. On the first day, while we were at the buffet getting our food, our assigned table was given to other guests. Pretty uncomfortable situation for everyone involved and the staff's bad command of English didn't make it better since nobody could understand his accent. The gym could also be a bit better equiped for a 5 star hotel.

The corner suite was fantastic. we loved the buffet breakfast and the infinity pool

The pillows on the bed had a really bad smell when compressed The wifi was absolutely appalling even after many attempts to have it rectified at the concierge. Thus ended up costing us a considerable amount for mobile data The gym equipment was a disgrace with half of the equipment including both treadmills out of order. considering this has been mentioned in many posts I can’t understand why this has not been addressed.

Lovely colonial hotel in Georgetown, a real treat to stay in this hotel. Breakfast is insane, the pool is lovely and it’s close (10 min walk) to old town Georgetown. The rooms are huge, shower very nice.

We thought the beds weren’t as comfortable as you would expect in this hotel (but then we are being picky).

Eventhough the hotel has been established for years, everything was well maintained. Kudos to that! Love the swimming pool! Had a good cold swim in the morning. Staff were friendly, esp your staff at the pool section.

The breakfast was rather disappointing. Due to the current situation, we were served by the waiters rather than picking up from the buffet spread which we are totally good with the arrangement. However, the disappointment came from the food portion. It was rather little esp the char kuey teow, yogurt, apom balik . The char kuey teow taste was not up to expectation, lacking stir frying taste. While the yogurt was too little, and the apom preferably if its given 2 slices for each person as the dessert was rather thin. Apart from that, the room pillow were too flat and lumpy. Time to get new ones!

The property is really luxurious for its price range. staff is one of the most helpful hotel staff that we ever encountered. breakfast is wonderful and the variety exceeds expectations. hotel room is clean and effort to disinfect and clean hotel rooms, hallways, and everywhere can be seen. the pool is big enough. the staffs are really helpful.

Thé hôtel was simply fabulous especially the Heritage Wing with loads of nooks to sit and people-watch. Breakfast was delicious with attentive staff. A definite 5*

Reception staff could have been more courteous and taken the time to explain about where breakfast is serve and also cocktail hour. A smile would have been nice. Cleaning and restaurant staff were excellent.

As many other reviews have noted there is a difference when booking into Victory Annex - basically an entirely separate hotel not an annex which should be made clearer as most of the photos on booking.com represent the heritage wing. Having said that it was a pleasant stay, the breakfast was truly excellent and the room was good, but not outstanding by 5* standards and the price tag.

House keeping frequently didn’t make it to the room until 2-3pm which is the time when most people want to be back in their room relaxing. Whilst the hotel is by the sea which is lovely it’s hard to tell from the map that there is actually no connecting seaside walk over to the old Fort area and to get to the old town bits of Georgetown there is a 10min large roads crossing & not particularly scenic walk ahead of you. On that basis I might have chosen to stay in the old town.
