It’s was very good , this is not our first time staying in Hotel Catedral and we ALWAYS look forward to desayuno the freshness of the fruit and vegetables such a great assortment to choose from and the hand made omelet is just so good , the staff are excellent you never wait for coffee ( in the morning people want their coffee ) so that makes folks very happy ,located in the heart of CDMX a short walk to find the red bus or private tours ( we have done them all many times ) rooms are adequate size as are the beds with quality linen sheets and good size bath towels , the CAJA FUERTE is a very important feature and its easy to make it function and has plugs in and a light so you can charge your devices ….light switches located in the correct places …I just can’t say enough about the staff from Los limpiadores a gerentes the are all so good …..it seems like the owners [ who ever they are ) are in the hotel living with you and sharing the same experiences and think about HOW TO MAKE GUESTS HAPPY what do they need , and how we live so should they ! The terrace …love it

I believe some of the camas could use a refresh ….the old main check in desk is crowded and the bell hops have difficulty keeping up with getting folks in and out …stairs entering the hotel and it’s starting to edge up in price in past years it always was an affordable stay

Excellent breakfast, great staff, very helpful front desk, onsite restaurant open late, spotless room and very clean hotel. I stayed here years ago and on returning recently I see that a lot of the staff still work there (20 years later!) . This speaks volumes of a healthy work culture and that the staff are treated well by their employers. Happy motivated employees equals happy paying guests ! I immediately recognized Luis at the entrance who makes everyone feel welcome and Thelma, who whips up amazing breakfasts on order. (In fact, years ago, she would cook special breakfasts for my picky little eater, who is now a full grown adult)

Since a lot of the rooms face a bustling street you can get street noise, (I chose a room facing the inner courtyard and it was silent and peaceful)

You can’t beat the location and the hotel sits above an archaeological dig which you can view as you walk on top of a glass floor to the newer edition portion of the hotel, which was beautiful.

Initial impression, room was really pretty. So I thought I could walk barefoot and regretted doing so, the floor was super dirty.

The fantastic restaurant. Delicious food for a very reasonable price. And the wait staff are very good at what they do. I enjoyed several meals there. Just a couple blocks away is a bus to the airport. The Zocalo is just around the corner. Great places to go shopping all around. A very good shower head and plenty of hot water. Good wifi. Nice rooftop terrace with wonderful view of the mountains. Free coffee and snacks.. Very clean hallways and common areas. The room looked very clean with nice looking sheets and towels. Thick blankets were provided. My room faced the courtyard and was very quiet. Plenty of free bottled water. 24 hour front desk that DOES allow check in after midnight. AND check out is a sweet 1:30pm!!

The bed could have been a little firmer. AND I got bit by bed bugs. I reported it to the front desk and hopefully they will try and be more attentive to the situation.

Comfy bed, quality cosmetics, very clean. Wifi worked well. there is a coffee maker in the room and free coffee/tea in the lobby in the morning and evening. Excellent locations near the cathedral, Templo Mayor and some early 20th art nouveau dept store. Safe neighborhood with many used bookstores etc. The absolute best is the staff; the front desk & concierge desk is better than in some 5-star hotels, and everyone I spoke to goes the extra mile to help out. I've stayed in some really expensive properties on business and did not always encounter such stellar service. Ask them to arrange for car service--it often ends up being much cheaper than taxi or uber, plus you have the extra security of the driver known to the hotel. There is a PC with printer in the lobby if you need to print out something. Also a small restaurant onsite (with room service after hours) , which could come in handy although there are plenty of places to eat around. This would be my first choice when coming back to Mexico City.

A fridge would have been very useful.

This is a comfortable hotel in a fantastic - but quiet - location, boasting a panoramic terrace which overlooks the Cathedral and Zócalo. The outstanding feature is the staff. Everyone we met - including the owner - was very welcoming! This is transmitted to the guests, most of whom were Mexican and also friendly. We felt completely at home! The warm hospitality of the staff and the complimentary hot and cold beverages' service available most of the day, along with snacks really made our stay! The restaurant is also worth exploring - good, authentic food and good value for money as well as helpful and friendly staff. The cleaning was excellent. We would definitely return!

The air con wasn't necessarily easy to adjust. At times, it was a bit cold, but we visited in December. The temperature is probably fine during the hotter months. Also, it would have been nice to have had a kettle in our room. These however are just minor details. Our room was in the older section. From what we understand, this building is about to be renovated. If the renos are anything like the already refurbished other building, it's bound to be great!

Our experience of staying in this hotel is very satisfactory. We booked this hotel for its location, we ended up feeling that it exceeded our expectations in terms services, friendly saff, and something like two restaurants in it and free water bottle, snacks and local fruit provided very day. We stayed 7 nights here got up graded a much better room for three nights when we told the front desk that our room was cold. We got help to get taxi to airport though the taxi came late the front desk made sure we can leave on time by calling alternative taxi. Highly recommend this hotel.

Few staff speaks English.

This hotel is effectively divided in two; one part faces the cathedral (maybe?) and the others, either another street or an airshaft, or weirdly, a dining room. It has two lobbies, which took us a day or two to figure out. We had street and airshaft rooms, which were charmless but very comfortable and very, very clean. The plumbing is incredibly good for the historic center of Mexico (I actually wished the showers used less water, given their drought); the beds and linens were excellent. It's a very busy hotel, and we liked the bustle around the lobby (not everyone might). We will have fond memories of the bowls of guava and potato chips they put out for guests. Unusually, the hotel restaurant (street-side) was excellent and very popular, with good service (usually hotel restaurants are so bad since they have a captive audience). In the cathedral side of the hotel, the lobby has a glass floor directly above archeological ruins, in what I think is a part of the Templo Mayor museum that isn't open to visitors. If you don't stay there, and just want a good meal with a solid English menu in a pretty crazy part of town, enter through the cathedral side and walk on through past the ruins to the restaurant.

There was construction directly below us, roughly from 9am to 6pm. I assume that is a temporary situation but it was not good for rest or relaxation. The room safe kept needing to be reset, but the staff was there in minutes to help. The historic center and the Zocolo were incredibly crowded because we were there in the days leading up to Three Kings Day. If you don't like crowds and are there during a holiday season, consider staying in a quieter neighborhood.

The location was great. The room we stayed in was newly renovated and very roomy.

I booked through Booking.com and I specifically chose a room that said it had a "view" which was more expensive than other room options. However, upon arrival, I was not given a view and I realized there was another room option available on the site that said "landmark view" which I suspect is a view of the Catedral which is what I thought I was getting. Since I did not get this view, I believe I did not get the value I paid for. So watch out for this confusing situation.

The name of the hotel indicates that it is close to the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral, and that is true. It takes several minutes to walk to Zócalo, Templo Mayor from here. Hotel is located in an antique building, but the facilities are in good condition and the room is clean. Under the hotel there is a ruin of Teotihuacan, the Aztec capital. Aside the dining hall we had breakfast everyday, we saw a glass floor and an open ground indoor; the ruin was there. We asked a staff and she told us that was part of the Temple of Ehécatl (God of wind) which was found in 2010. The breakfast of the hotel was rich in content. We were satisfied every morning. Moreover, all staff were warm and helpful.

The only deficiency was the seats in dining hall were limited comparing to the numbers of lodgers. Sometimes we had to wait in queue for a table in the morning.
