This was my 3rd visit here - this shows how lovely the place is. Unspoilt natural beauty, both in the jungle and right on the lake. They have their own little deck right on the lagoon. Free kayaks to borrow or you can go on a guided tour. I recommend the jungle walk with Jacqueline - a tranquil way to start the day. The food from the restaurant was exceptional - not a huge menu which is great as everything is freshly prepared. The rooms / cabins are tastefully simple. This is my favourite place to stay in Mexico - in fact probably the whole world!!
Nothing! It's perfect!!

Super relaxing. Very friendly staff. Bungalows were cosy and perfect to unwind. We took the kayaks out on our own and had a great time. Breakfast was great, and beds very comfortable.
At the time of booking, we were not informed of the sunrise/sunset kayak. It was sent to us a few days prior to arrival. Upon replying with interest, they let us know it was fully booked for our entire stay which was disappointing. We ended booking the sunrise kayak via another vendor which involved a 20 min car ride into town which was less convenient. We were slightly unlucky with a family below us in the bungalow which meant we were unable to relax during the early evening as the kids were quite loud. Lastly, appreciate the hotel is eco friendly but the shower products could be improved to include separate shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Rather than all 3 in 1.

If you're looking to relax and enjoy nature and the lagoon than this is perfect for you. The property is nestled in the jungle, set close to the Lagoon with easy access to it. The rooms are extremely spacious and thoughtfully designed. The breakfasts are delicious. And the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, running various activities - e.g. jungle and lake tour. The setup next to the lagoon is perfect - plenty of chairs, hammocks, and kayaks.
Minor point: if you don't have a car you'll need to take a taxi to town (200 pesos each way). But everything you need is close by - there are various hotels nearby with restaurants (when you're looking for lunch or for something else not served at the property).

The cabins are well designed, cozy and comfortable. You can tell the owners did not cut corners. The woman who checked us in (I believe she might be the owner) is very nice and thorough. I enjoyed the sounds of the crickets at nights. It almost feels like you are camping but in a nice cabin.
I didn't realize there is no AC but this is my fault for not checking when I booked (fans are provided). The entrance to the villas is almost hidden and you really need to be careful when entering the driveway coming in from Tulum. Also the road to the villas is in rough shape.

Pretty Little Hotel 5 km before Bacalar in the middle of the jungle. At any time of day or night you can hear animals such as birds or chirps. You stay in these adorable little rustic huts with no windows. We slept really well and had a great time. But The absolute best thing about this place is the dock by the water. It’s wonderful for watching the sunset, kayaking or swimming. The colors of lake Bacalar are stunning! Also the staff is lovely! I would definitely stay here again!
I didn’t like how my eggs were prepared at breakfast, the just didn’t taste as good. But that’s just a personal preference. Other than that everything was wonderful.

What didn’t I like? The hotel is surrounded by maintained jungle well landscaped to accommodate the place. Lush green and magical with coconut and sour orange trees The rooms are beautiful- the cleanest I’ve stayed in Mexico with sheets so soft I was wondering the thread count. Lovely hammocks The breakfast included was generous with good options I had lobster tail for dinner which was delicious and the veg was perfect The atmosphere was lovely and I had wonderful conversations with some others guests there. The staff are a mix of local and international who went above and beyond in hospital- I had some conversations with the staff about the sour orange trees (new to me) and later at breakfast the lady came over with a grin and placed a jug on my table. I just said “naranja…. :)” and she grinned more and walked away. It was so extra thoughtful and really made my day. There were few kayaks to use which adds to the complete bargain of this hotel The dock is rustic but lovely with well handrailled entry and exit with rope thoughtfully put on the wood stairs to help with grip underfoot in water. If they hadn’t been fully booked we’d have sunk the cost of our other hotel and come back. Loved it so much. So peaceful and immediately relaxing Regret not taking more photos but we were too busy enjoying ourselves the phones just didn’t twitch out in our hands
The Wi-Fi struggled a bit but honestly who cares when the place is so great

Location in the jungle and direct on the lagoon is very calm and non-touristic. The road to the place was really ok and not bad (like many of the reviews say) at all! All the staff was super friendly and kind. The breakfast was delicious. There are a lot of birds to be heard so beware of the cool background “music” you will have :D Having own private access to the lagoon with a lot of sitting opportunities was great. Kayaks are free to use! I loved everything about this place!
Take mosquito spray with! Beware that the cabins have no windows (but mosquito net, blinds and shades) so you hear the nature very loud and clear. We loved hearing the sound of different birds and crickets in the bed, but it may not be for everyone.

What a retreat! It’s a true paradise, with extremely friendly staff to complete the experience. Lake access is easy and so wonderful. Spacious casitas and incredible nature.
Included breakfast is delicious, and dinner service has just begun, but there is no lunch. As I had no car and this is pretty remote, I was a bit stressed about food. However, they readily offered for me to keep any food I brought with me in the kitchen refrigerator, and I did find an excellent restaurant called Villa Santuario just five minutes walk which was open for lunch.

Amazing bungalow in the middle of the rainforest. They are big and fully equipped. In the bed there's a mosquito net. Each bungalow has a terrace with a hammock. Amazing star view in the night ! the village has its own dock on the lagoon and you can use kayaks for free The staff can also guide in a jungle journey (for 15$ MXC)
