it’s been difficult looking for a room without boring white walls I was happy to find this hostal at a reasonable price. very nice room, good size, colorful, authentic, liked the colonial style very much, top floor has wooden beams on the ceiling, bottom floor walk directly to the garden, tropical plantations, open kitchen, friendly and helpful host family, went to Playa de Carmen after checking out accidentally sent message informing staying over to another hotel they still nicely kept my luggage, thanks a lot, not in center but short walk to Main Street, ADO and mini vans, grocery, restaurant, and a central place with venders of international food and live music near by.

It’s a small street, but unfortunately and strangely trucks going by continuously. It was said they weren’t allowed on the main road they go there:( very noisy, but luckily not over dusty and there seem to be less at night. packed a lot of stuff of mine moved to a room a little away from the road for a little quieter but they started hitting rocks building a new entrance downstairs in the back, it would be nice to give me a notice won’t bother to move. some medal cutting noise from a nearby house under construction also, but won’t be a big problem if visiting sites all day, 2 nights there didn’t have difficulty to sleep, it’s better to have a stove lighter rather than lighter, easier and safer, wish no trucks there I had stayed for a week

The host and hostess were super helpful nothing was too much trouble at all. All very clean and spotless and lots of hot water and decent shower clean towels daily and bedding every second day. The tropical garden was lovely and tranquil. The shared kitchen was always clean and a nice place to talk to other guests. Coffee for the coffee maker was included as was bottled water.

Located near a busy street so some loud traffic noise but ear plugs eliminated that issue. Nothing at all not to like.... Quite a long way to the beach but you can get a collectivo bus three quarters of the way...taxi very expensive to use daily for beach run.

Everything was great! Located near main street with lots of restaurants & shops, also near ADO station and near to a scooter & bike rental place. It's also very close to Palma Central, where are lots of street food spots and salsa nights on Tuesdays! Hotel itself was very cozy and clean (cleaned every day), beautiful place to hang out along with a nice kitchen which you can use with all the necessities. Owner was around pretty much the whole time to help out, answer any questions or to recommend places without tourists. Definitely would recommend and definitely would come back again, we had a great time and made many new friends there. Honestly worth the price!

Stayed 4 nights. Location was close to Downtown Tulum, close to the ADO, walking distance to restaurants. Great kitchen with water, and fridge. Daily house keeping. The building itself is lovely. Staff were friendly and multi-lingual. Off the mainstreet which was great, provided us with advice about where to rent bikes and buy supplies. Air con in the rooms. Good value for money considering Tulum is expensive everywhere. We found the place quite peaceful.

Nothing to really dislike about the actual place. My qualms are are more with Tulum in general being very overpriced.

The place itself is very nice. it feels you are a bit in the jungle. Tulum felt very busy but inside of this place it felt very relaxing. the internet was pretty good (i was able to work). was nice to have a little kitchen to have breakfast.

Unfortunately the mattress of our bedroom was very very soft. was even marked due to our body weight (we are skinny people). it really made my back hurt after the first night. I wouldn’t be willing to stay again due to this. but if you like a soft mattress this is the place to go

Very nice property, well decorated, clean and silent. Good service. The bed sheets were great, felt like laying down on a cloud. Considering the absurd Tulum prices, it was a great value for money. We recommend it!

The location is good because it's easy to go anywhere from there, but it doesn't look the best. The key wasn't working well so we needed some patience to open and close the gate. At night the water wasn't warm enough.

Casa Abanico offers spacious rooms and a lovely communal kitchen area with everything you need for preparing meals or coffee. I enjoyed staying in this neighbourhood more than other areas of town because you have proximity to lots of great restaurants and shops but are just off the main drag so you avoid lots of the noise and tourist traps. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Would absolutely stay here again if I have the opportunity.

Loved our stay here. I don't think you could find a better price to quality ratio in Tulum. The owner was lovely, very accommodating of last minute arrival time changes,and available if you need. There's drinking water and a full kitchen, and excellent WiFi. The little garden that is the central area is wonderful! We would definitely stay again.

No complaints.

Tulum is not a nice town and was disappointing in many ways - but Casa Abanico was like a peaceful oasis in all of it. Beautifully decorated rooms, green garden, terrace with shared kitchen and fridge. It felt very safe in the city chaos. The owner was really nice, recommended places to eat nearby and offered us a later checkout after visiting the Ruins.

Kind and helpful host. Lovely room with AC and all the toiletries needed. Water is provided free in the kitchen and the place is safe with a locked port. Comfortable bed and close to Centro!

I don't think I really have any dislike but keep in mind not to have food in your room or open drinks - ants will be covering your food in minutes.
