If I had to choose one word to describe CityHub Amsterdam it would be "perfect". Never in my life have i experienced such an amazing and warm experience. Having already downloaded the app before arriving, even though I didn't have network, the map on the app somehow picked up where I was, giving me the useful assistance to find the hotel while battling bags and the rain. On arrival I was welcomed by Mathias, one very bubbly fella (definitely the type of person you'd want to be greeted by). My first impression: "wow, this is better than the pictures". The check in process was rather simple, scan your booking QR code at the self help desk, choose which pod you'd like (climb in - top, or dive in - bottom), last but not least assign a waterproof, weather resistant RFID wristband to you and your pod & boom bobs your uncle. You're set to go. I chose pod 16, the dive in option. After finding (which was rather easy) the pod, I was set for amazement. I expected the pod to be tight on space but wow was I wrong! Such a spacious pod. First, the most important thing - a whole very comfortable double bed. Ample space to move around and space to put your bags. You're given two towels (which can be topped up after use), 2 bath gowns, a few hangers and a few hooks to hang your things on (I used them to act as my clothes hanger to drive wet items from the rain). The pod is equiped with bluetooth surround sound and two plug points and two USB holes. Remember the app I spoke about...you can use that to control the lights in your room and chat to the hosts on duty. You can chat to them about anything you want. Looking for a friend, looking for a restaurant, looking for something to do in and around Amsterdam. They got you covered. Roos recommended the apple pie at Winkel 43 - possibly the best apple pie I've had in my entire life. Amazing recommendation!
I got nothing

GREAT location on a quiet side street in the city. Across the street, there's a place to rent a bike - most places of interest are 10-15 min away. Get the breakfast option - The Breakfast Club across the street is AMAZING! Pods are perfect (you aren't going to spend your day there, so why not?). Bed was comfy. Enough room to store stuff. Bathrooms were plentiful. The whole place was super clean. Self-Checkin, which activates a wrist band you wear to access the sleeping area, your pod, and the bar is a super neat idea that worked well. If you're there on Saturday, check out the street market around the corner. It's a great neighborhood, complete with a small park nearby. Download the app before you get there to communicate with the front desk. You can even set the mood lighting in your pod after check-in. Fun!
The self-serve bar provides access to coffee, tea, and beer. Just swipe your wrist band and pour away. The one thing I thought was too much was charging 2 Euros for hot water? WTH?

Extremely clean quarters and bathrooms, surprisingly comfortable beds (that are roomier than they look!), fast Internet, convenient vending machines and tasty coffee machine, good shower water pressure, very friendly and helpful staff, friendly neighbor cat who loves chest rubs. Nice neighborhood, right next door to FoodHallen and a lovely green market which were unexpected perks. Sybren was especially helpful and hospitable! Really enjoyed meeting him!
It gets cold at night, I needed two extra duvets. The hall with the quarters is also weirdly dark, some more lights would be nice, especially late at night. The check-in process is a bit awkward, because you have to both speak with the front desk and then do a weird self-serve scan that doesn’t always work. These are small things, though.

The room was really cool. We actually started off choosing one of the bottom hubs, but after taking a look, it felt a little snug so we decided actually we're prefer being on the 'top bunk'! The host was very helpful and helped us changed to one of the top pods, so if you're choosing I would go with the top, but each to their own! The host was very welcoming and very helpful. Fresh towels were available daily. The showers were really nice and warm and clean and it was a very good use of the space. The robes that were available in the room too were really handy also! We didn't actually use it but it had a self service bar in the common area that you could access with your key wristband, which we thought was a nice touch too! The hub was well connected with tram connections less than a 10 minute walk away that could get you to central in less than 20 minutes.
The gents toilets were very clean, but the ladies weren't always as clean, unfortunately I think this was down to some of the other guests staying at the hub at the time, and I think we'd just used the loo before the cleaners got to it. We actually drove to Amsterdam from the UK and the parking was easy to find as was a Q-park, however it wasn't very clear how the park and ride worked so rather than a cheap 1 euro per 24 hours, we got stung with a rather big bill for parking when we came to leave at the end of our stay, not the end of the world, but when you expect to pay 3 euros and end up paying over 50 it was a bit of a shock.

Great room option, you have the privacy and everything you need in the cabin. The interior is modern and cozy. The bathroom is great, well organised and the subtle music is always playing there. Definitely recommend this option! And the neighbourhood is lovely, there are really amazing asian restaurants and breakfast cafe in a couple minutes walk!
I didn't like only two things which may not be a thing to everyone though. First is that I felt cold with their temperature, it was constantly cold for me in the room, uncomfortable. And I could do nothing about it because it is centralised. Second is that the blanket was pretty much small and not very comfy. Pillows were not very good either, the one felt really over-used and needed to be replaced with the new one. For the money they charge per cabin I would expect pillows and blanket of a better quality.

cool, hi tech, modern. helpful staff. a bit out of centre but not really an issue as it was around 30 mins walk and loads of bars and restaurants about.
thoughts of dystopian tourism aside, the tiny capsules might not suit everyone, but this part is well advertised and shouldn’t be a surprise. The living space was clean but not immaculate, finding hair a hair band from other occupants, however minimal, isn’t nice. The place isn’t overtly noisily but I defo heard the individual on the bottom pod bang their head a couple of times, which woke me up. final niggle was not having individual pod heating control. I got really hot at night and was given fans which helped, bit the lack of space made then inconvenient.

The location was very good, with a lot of restaurants around. Also not far away from public transportation. The hostel in a general way was very very clean. I have never been on a capsule room before (confess I was a little apprehensive) but it was very comfortable and not claustrophobic at all! The bathroom was very good with great free soap and shampoo.
I would love to have rented the bikes on the hostel. They do have bikes available to rent, buy since I'm short they were too big for me. But It would have been the cherry on the top of a great stay. The rooms can be a little small, I suppose that if I'd had a lot of luggage that would be a problem, but for short stays (or long stays with fewer bags) not a problem.

The pod was cozy and comfortable. The staff and Herman the hostel cat were all super friendly. Good branded soaps and shampoo are used.
For the price, I think they could have provided room cleaning by request free of charge. Some of the basic necessities could have been given for free by request too (i.e. slippers, toothbrush, etc.) The pods weren't as soundproof as I thought, could hear people talking loudly in the middle of the night.

Great location to discover Amsterdam, they have bikes you can rent and there are different tram and bus stops within a 10 minute walk. Everything was super clean, especially the bathroom and toilets. Their app is a nice little extra addition and all the staff was very helpful with literally ANYTHING. Foodhallen is next-door and as well as some of the best coffee bars in Amsterdam.
I never saw any house rules put up in the hallway or anywhere in the hotel, so sometimes people would be running in the hallways quite late or would be talking too loud

Fantastic little hostel! Stayed with my partner and friends - everything was very clean and all the staff were incredibly friendly. The bathroom and showers were incredibly clean and the ability to personalise your pod with colored lights was a nice added bonus. All around great stay - would highly recommend!
Really hard to fault this venue - however, I would say extra pillows would be quite nice. One thin pillow per person can be a little uncomfy, but again, not a major thing.
