Breakfast selection was very good. Location excellent. Bike hire a bonus.
The rooms are small and old. Due to the no-eating, no-drinking rule in the room, you can't even have a cup of coffee.

Cons: Since it's an authentic old house, you can hear every step on the wooden floor. The pillows were not comfy. The price is quite expensive for the room you get. Pros: Really like the location, it is in a less touristy area, very quiet, in a family friendly area. Local bars near by, and the park next to it is perfect for people who want to bring their running shoes ;) The staff is intentional, and not local therefore they are super nice and welcoming, love how kind they are also to old people who need slower explanations. Plenty of trams to take you into the city, 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The airport bus is only a 5 min walk. We didn't take the breakfast so I can't say if it's good or not. Overall we really enjoyed the location especially, the room is okay, price could be cheaper.

Warm, comfy, and a tiny bit of an upgrade to a double. (I dont tecall but pretty sure i booked a sungle bed but for what i paid, very happy to have that). Also, Very close to south of downtown like the park, hardrock Cafe area, just a lovely quiet area away from tbe insanely loud center.
Not a thing except breakfast not included. Really didnt look like much. Some rolls and cold cuts and cereal, appleS, just go to one of the amazing all day brunch places only a few min away and pay an extra €5 STILL, I KNOW HOW IT IS WHENEVER YOU DO NOT WANT TO BIKE OR WALK IN THE COLD RAIN

- Comfy beds, nice balcony, quiet surroundings. - Good size of room for Amsterdam standards and the hotel has a lift as well which is convenient for people with heavy luggage (though you will still have to carry your bags up a small amount of stairs, at the entrance and after the lift). - We were happy that the heater in the room was working well and there were English TV channels as well - Cute and cozy touch with the free mini stroopwafels and biscuits offered in the room - I liked the peaceful terrace and garden where you could enjoy the breeze and hear birds chirping in the morning. - Good breakfast daily but could use more variety. - Linen closet readily available for you to take extra towels if needed - The staff were all really helpful and friendly!
- The shower could be improved, the shower curtain was too short, leading to water continually splashing out. There's also no shelf anywhere in the shower to put your toiletries. - Not enough hooks in the toilet for clothes and towels. - The lighting of the room could be improved as there is a spotlight directly facing the beds, making it glaring to the eyes. - A little far from attractions, but luckily is close to the tram station

I was looking for a quiet room close to the Leidseplein area which is theatre, art, and dance. The famous Mielkweg dance club is 6-8 blocks away. The immediate area is very quiet and residential. The hotel itself has a lovely terrace and courtyard in the back when you want to enjoy reading or have quiet conversation with friends. Receptionist Andre gave me several ideas for places to dance. Live music, jazz, and more. Yes, like most boutique hotels this has stairs but it also has an elevator. You’re still hauling luggage but compared to the hotels before and after I didn’t feel like I was ready for Mt Everest when I got done.
I would have extended my stay but the hotel was full. I will recommend and stay there again because they tried hard to accommodate my last minute extension.

There are several reasons to choose Hotel Alexander. Most of all, perfect location: central--we could walk everyplace; near the Vondelpark and in the Museum Quarter; quiet, safe, peaceful. Also: friendly and very helpful staff; calm, cozy public space (good for an early AM riser like me--I could go down to the lobby/breakfast room and make myself a cappuccino and hang out there). It's relatively affordable, good value for hospitality this good.
Our "small double room" was REALLY small (and it was the biggest of the small doubles! We booked the "small" by mistake, tried to change it, nothing else available, but the very warm man I spoke to made a point of giving us the biggest one in the category. It had a sweet balcony but was still very hard to move around in for two people. Book a "small" to save some money but go into it with your eyes open). This hotel would not work for anyone with mobility issues. There was a lift to our room's floor--but you still had to walk up stairs after you went up the elevator. They would have helped carry luggage up, I'm sure, but those stairs were unavoidable for basic getting in and out.

the room was great I got double room not a small double and it was perfect size shower wasnt very tall be me and my partner are short so it didn't matter. place was clean came with a TV and a mini fridge which was excellent and the pillows are nice. bed was quiet too. reception people where lovely.
the coffee station was free to use for most of the day other than 7 in the morning to 10 unless you pay for breakfast which I though was a bit silly because that's exactly when you'd like a coffee ideally but over all it was good. the bathroom smelled very strong of air freshener when we got in but it was good after we aired it out a bit. hallyways where dates but the room was lovely. you also cannot have any glasses in your room but the tap water is safe so bring a water bottle.

Location is great. Quiet area near busy street. Room was a bit on the smaller side, but cozy enough. Loved tea/ coffee facilities in the room and free refills from the reception area.
We had stayed at the top floor. Stairs from the lift to the floor and from the street to the ground floor made it difficult to cary heavy luggage. The bathroom was very cold, no heating there and in the shower ceiling was very low, only I could stay straight as I'm 5 feet tall only. Cracked mirror. The location of power plugs was inconvenient.

Booked the quadruple room (2 queen sized beds). Loved that there was an elevator, and that the room was spacious and connected to the outdoor patio and garden. Loved that coffee and tea were available free of charge throughout the stay. You cannot, and I mean cannot beat the location! easy access to tram, walking distance (a little over 10 minutes) to the Van Gogh Museum, and lots of shops, cafes and restaurants. Appreciated the hotel letting us leave our luggage back (post check-out) so we could enjoy the city a bit more before heading to our next destination.
Other than the bathroom was a bit small, nothing else to complain about.

Perfectly located! Near all the main attractions but on a quiet street. I loved that it did not cater to the crowd who comes to Amsterdam to party, so it was always very quiet and peaceful at night. Our rooms were comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was perfect. We loved the patio! Staff were accommodating and friendly.
This was out of our control, but it did get warm at night with no air conditioning and our room on the top floor. There was a fan and we cracked the windows so we ended up being fine.
