Fab location on a quiet canal street within walking distance of several nice cafes, bars, coffeehouses, flea markets and within earshot of delightful church bells
As per previous reviews the bathrooms are a little old but we had anticipated that.and some of the rooms are small...but i liked the quaintness of it all. I knew to expect no toiletries bar one handwash and i knew the provided towels would be small. Good water pressure in shower and hot water most of the time was a plus.

The location is Ideal , the bed was confortable and the staff very friendly.
no Tea/Coffee facilities in room. The bathroom door didn't open more than a few inches because the bed was in its way.

Hotel is located right in the city center. Around 10 mins to Red Light District/museums and 16 mins to Amsterdam Centraal by walking. A very basic small room with private bathroom at 4th floor... A lot of mirrors in the room…like in the picture. Staffs and their cat and dog are very friendly.
It would be good if you can change the curtain in the bathroom. It’s smell. Of course I agree the rooms look old and definitely need some renovations. But I believe it won’t cost the same after renovation. :-) so no complain.

This hotel is all about location, location, location! It is a historical building, so you won't find elevators and the stairs are really steep. Also the room may be smaller than a regular hotel, but it will fit you luggage and you will be able to sleep comfortably. Bathroom is small too, but - again - you will be able to use it and get everything done. Now the location is one of the best places in Amsterdam, you can go to all main spots of the city by walking, so if you're here to explore the city, there won't be many places like this one to do it :)
As I mentioned previously, it is a historical building, so the amenities are not the best. The stairs are really (I mean, REALLY) steep, so mind that the more luggage you have, the harder it will be to move them.

You couldn't ask for a better location in my opinion, this is in walkable distance from so much in the city. The staff were fantastic and helpful as I was delayed a day by EuroStar and were very helpful transporting my bag from one room to another so I could stay an extra night. (Apologies if the bag was heavy!) Everytime I spoke to them they were helpful and informative. The room met my expectations.
Wi-Fi would cut in and out, but worked majority of the time. My first room had a very narrow bed but I am a big guy so majority of people will have no issues. If you're on the bigger side, pay a little extra and treat yourself to a double bed like I did on my final night! ;)

This was the most reasonably priced hotel we found that was so central in Amsterdam and close to the attractions we wanted to visit. We understood this and knew we had taken the hotel as an excellent point to launch our daily sorties. Therefore, we were not concerned by any deficits in the stay standard. The owners also acquainted us with a lovely B&B Condo facility of their nearby, should we wish for something more upscale but still at a good price if we made a return visit.
We heard other guests complain about the small rooms and the lack of an elevator, but we appreciated that the hotel owners had to accept that this was a heritage building with restrictions they had to respect.

First of all the friendly staff and their willingness to help you at any time. They are very flexible, also with checking in outside the office hours. Secondly they offered if we wanted to leave the bags there on our last day, and just pick them up later when we really left Amsterdam. That gesture was highly appreciated by us. Thirdly, if you wanted or need something, you could just ask, whether it be a hairdryer, shampoo, or extra towels. Next to that the location was nice. The building itself is an old building so you can hear the sounds next or above you, but the area itself is a quiet area for a crowded city like Amsterdam. And it is close to the centre and tram stations, which allows you to get to places quickly. In conclusion, I would recommend if you're looking for an affordable stay in this generally expensive city and if you don't have too many requirements or demands in terms of luxury.
It could be pretty hot in the humid summer, and the room did not include a fan or airco (but neither did we ask about it as it was still bearable). It is an old and beautiful building, but therefore you could hear the people from next door or on the floor above you if they are noisy.

The location of the hotel is perfect, it's close to everything. You can come and go as you please. Rooms a very small but for somewhere your only resting your head it's perfect, bed is very comfortable but pillows not so much.. there was this gap between the window sill and the floor that they had done work on and just covered it up but dident try to make it nicer looking. For what I payed I'm happy over all the staff were so so lovely and helpful It was very clean throughout the hotel not just rooms so for a 3 or 4 day trip I would 1000% recommend.
The pillows were a bit uncomfortable. And the gap between the window and floor covered with wood and not done properly

Location is perfect. Staff is very friendly. I read some of the reviews only after making the booking, and I was dreading my arrival, but I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the building is old, but this was part of the charm of staying in the old town. The room was a good size and I thought the bathroom was sizeable enough.
Not much; there is no breakfast option, but you know that before you book and you can explore places to visit. The shower curtain could do with replacement as it was a little mouldy.

We were disappointed when we arrived as the room was so small! but it was clean and comfortable and we had a lovely view of the canal outside. The longer we stayed the happier we were. It seemed expensive, but nothing like as expensive as other hotels in Amsterdam, perhaps in part due to the Vermeer exhibition which has attracted thousands. I would strongly recommend this hotel for for a really comfortable, functional stay in Amsterdam2. And the staff were really very nice!
Bed and breakfast, a few pictures on the walls. Thats all.
