The location was great. Very near the train station as well as the busiest center of Leiden, but just far enough away from them that there weren't too many people in the area. Also, a really nice little park with tables right outside which was nice place to sit and relax and enjoy view of canal and windmill. Staff was very friendly and helpful, esp since I was in 2 different rooms for my 2 nights, and they hurried up and cleaned the 2nd room so I could get into it earlier than normal. Because of location right next to restaurant, I though it would be noisy at night, but it wasn't. I did not eat breakfast, but I did enjoy free ice-pops for guests! Beds very comfortable, rooms very clean.

I stayed in 2 different rooms, and in 2nd, there needed to be a trash can in the room as well as in bathroom since it was very small.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Lovely building with character and very comfortable rooms. Well placed to appreciate Leiden which is very beautiful. Train station just 5 minutes walk for exploring Amsterdam and rest of the Netherlands, very good train service. The breakfast served on a platter each morning is definitely worth going for and we had lunch one day, also highly recommended!

There is no food in the evenings, although there's a well stocked bar. Lots of good restaurants locally though, but we were tired one night and would have been happy to eat at the hotel.

We wish we had been able to stay for longer! We had a lovely spacious room, which was clean and well decorated/ furnished, with a comfortable bed, tea and coffee, and a nice bathroom. The staff were friendly. The hotel is in a great location on the edge of the historic part of the city - a great base to explore from, and very convenient to walk to the train station (less than 10min). Lots of places to eat nearby and a few supermarkets within walking distance too. We loved Leiden and would love to come back (and stay here again!)

Not super quiet - the park area/nearby lanes featured some noisy people late into the night - not the hotel's fault though. This was despite closing the skylight windows (which then made the room too warm!)

I really loved this hotel and will be adding it to my list of international favourites! Truly a boutique hotel, it has a warm and welcoming feel. The decor is understated and relaxing (which the Dutch do wonderfully well), and the quality of the finishes and furnishings is top. The location could not be better - just on the edge of busier areas, and right next to the canal with a view of a windmill and charming cobblestoned streets - making it both quiet and easily walkable to all the areas of Leiden you might want to visit. Plus all the staff were delightful, welcoming and super-helpful!

Location and Staff were fabulous. Since the check-in time staff was amazing, helpful, and cheerful. We had a minor cleaning at check-in which they have instantly done. They accommodated us with second floor room despite the fact that the hotel was fully booked. Room was nice and cozy. We would have preferred a cabinet for story cloth (that is mainly the only comment). Pillows still an issue (but this is an issue with me with all hotels almost anywhere). We didn’t try breakfast though it smelled so good every time we go out in the morning :) Location: Area is so beautiful with so nice greenery and besides a windmill. Close to everything you need. Close to Leiden Central Train and Bus stations, Haarlemstraat, and Centrum. In front of a side lake that is so amazing. A place worth stay at whenever you are at Leiden.

Pillows still was an issue (but this is an issue with me with all hotels almost anywhere). Early check-in was not possible they have accommodated our bags until we made a nice walk tour, which they guided us with map.

The room was excellent but the staff was more excellent. We had an issue with an odor in the room but the staff went above and beyond to try to remedy the situation. The issue was related to a municipal drain issue but the staff did all they could do to make the stay enjoyable. The location is great and the price was reasonable, but I rate this place highly because of the exceptional effort of the staff.

The hotel is an absolute highlight and one the most memorable places we have ever stayed. With its history the building conveys the charm of a historic army post which in fact is some very special charm indeed. But be careful and prepared ... you might be welcomed by a box with explosives in your room. ;-))) And on top of this the professional and kind team provides a breakfast which beats everything we have seen on our table so far - we were indulged by an incredible composition every single morning. So thanks to all people of the team we met - we spent a real great time in Leiden!

To be honest: nothing.

The staff were beyond helpful, so friendly and chatty. The location could not have been better, central, close to the canal and within a minutes walk of shops and restaurants. The hotel is stylishly decorated with everything in top condition. The bed was big and so comfortable and we had a bath in our room as well as a great shower. We took breakfast once which was beautifully presented and consisted of eggs, fruit, cold meats and bread.

It was very hot during our stay and despite the fact that the hotel had been open for only 6 years there was no air conditioning, only a fan that didn't really do the job. Instead of a bath in the room I would have preferred a sofa. Me and my husband cannot be the only people on the planet who don't stay out late but like to sit and read before turning in. Sitting on a bed just isn't comfortable.

Lovely breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Relaxing atmosphere in the hotel. Nice decor. Walking distance to attractions, shops and restaurants.

There are several bars nearby so it can be very noisy in the evening. Not a problem for anyone who likes the night life but we prefer earlier nights. As it was very hot weather they were very busy, we had to close window

The room was spacious and comfortable, and in an excellent location. the breakfast was excellent.

while close to the train station, our taxi driver could not understand the directions to the hotel, which is not easily accessible by car. The hotel is close to a student district and there was a lot of rowdy behaviour nearby in the night, which was worrying as there are no staff in the hotel at night.
