Fabulous location. Very central but on a quiet street. Historical Dutch canal house, recently modernised. Large comfortable beds. Friendly, helpful staff. The lock on our door broke but it was fixed very quickly.

Could potentially be noisy due to the historic nature of the building and the wooden floors. We could hear the people below us just watching tv and talking. Fortunately they didn’t talk often but this could have been really annoying! Ear plugs are supplied in the rooms. On the other hand I enjoyed the sound of the church bells and they don’t ring all night.

Amazing room in a lovely city. The staff were really accommodating and allowed us to store our bags when we arrived early and left late. A particular highlight was the bar room where they had set up a beautiful Christmas display in the cellar. The room itself was really big with a lovely bed. The bathroom was lovely with a large shower and bath so were spoilt for choice. A coffee machine was a nice touch. It was really lovely!

The window in our room rattled throughout the night as there were extremely strong winds (storm). I think it would be a quick fix though and the only issue we found!

This was our second visit to the property. We were warmly welcomed when we arrived and found the team during our stay, very friendly and helpful. Being able to store our bikes safely overnight gave us peace of mind. We stayed in the Loft room with a nice view over the square and sitting area. We enjoyed a breakfast of local ham and cheese, croissants and omelette and yoghurt with fruit. A great start to the day!!

Obviously being in the loft room there are lots of stairs. Also the beams are quite low and so getting up in the middle of the night for taller people can be a challenge.

The room was lovely and the bed comfortable. Bathroom and toiletries were very nice. Location is great.

There is some noise from perhaps an office next door and one can hear conversations through the wall. It would be nicer if the bed was one double bed rather than two mattresses put together. The bar and seating area downstairs is shut in the evenings and the door locked. This was a shame as we wanted to sit downstairs with my 89 year old friend who was visiting us. He managed to climb all 3 flights of stairs to sit with us for an hour.

Wonderful hotel in a beautiful historic building right in the centre of Leiden. Generous rooms with modern bathrooms, while maintaining authentic details and character. Very friendly staff, although they are not there until late, so after 18:00 no staff on site, which for me wasn't an issue.

You can hear the loud bells from the clock tower close by until late at night and early in the morning, although there were earplugs provided in the room. Quite noisy in general: creaky stairs, thin walls, etc. Not an issue for me but for those very sensitive to sound, be warned! Room lacked a desk or surface to work on.

We loved this beautiful hotel next to the canals in Leiden. It is a perfect boutique-sized small hotel with modern amenities in an historic hotel building. Shower and bathroom was newly modeled, with 2 sinks (yay). Our suite on the 2nd floor was beautiful. Breakfast was just right. Staff was super helpful with restaurant recommends and transpo help.

all great, except wish the feather beds were interchangeable with a simple blanket/sheet as too warm in the evening for sleeping.

Absolutely beautiful and very generous room (I booked the Royal Suite). Everything about it was lovely, from the view over the canal from the windows, to the decor and the very, very comfortable bed. Good coffee maker in the room, plenty of storage, great lighting and well placed in the historic centre of Leiden. You can get breakfast, you just need to tell the staff ahead of time, but we walked down the road to a great little cafe instead. Highly recommended hotel.

It was all lovely - really no complaints.

We loved everything except their reception system.

No 24hr reception. The hotel contacted us ahead of time to ask our expected arrival, which we gave, but still arrived to find the door locked. The phone number on the door sign did not answer. We eventually found the hotel phone number and rang it only to find someone was inside the whole time. If we’d known ahead of time to expect all this it would have been less stressful.

The room was convenient and spare room with seating connected by flight of stairs. Breakfast delicious will need to be ordered the night before or in the morning with some waiting time. Gym next doors easy to use and convenient.

The location was perfect, service excellent and room comfy and clean. Breakfast can be ordered. Gym is excellent next doors free of charge.

A romantic historical building with steep wooden, squeaky stairways leading to the room. Big comfortable bed. Spacious bathroom with a bathtub. Very friendly and attentive staff. When my room was ready for me, my luggage was already in my room! Breakfast was served on a wooden plank which was nice. Btw, you can borrow an umbrella at the hotel. Should I revisit Leiden, I´ll definitely stay at Steenhof Suites.
