First impression was that you get what you pay for but plesantly surprised. Reception on arrival was exceptional. Room was bigger than I expected and beds and bedding were very comfortable. Separate full sized kitchen was great - door in kitchen led to the back where pool was located (burr too cold to swim) so used the indoor spa. Just off the main road but very quiet and bonus heat pump. ps requested an early check-in which was accepted immediately - Would definitely stay again.)

Host was very friendly and hard-working - always happy to help with anything we asked for. The unit was a good size and had a good range of furniture. While aspects of the unit were obviously quite old, nearly everything was very clean and worked. The shower was lovely and we made good use of the spa!

We could tell they were in the process of gradually updating everything, so this is probably on the list.....but the curtains were quite dirty and needed replacing or, at least, cleaning.

A spacious family room that was close to the centre of Cambridge. It had everything that we needed to overnight in Cambridge. I liked that there was an iron and ironing board so that I could iron a shirt before heading out for dinner and drinks.

The kitchen decor and set up was basic - not that we didn't like this, but I could see it might be a sticking point for others.

Convenient location; friendly; clean; tidy

I know there were other facilities other than just our room, however we weren't told or shown them - for example, the website said there was a spa, however we weren't told about where it was and how to access it, same for the pool and laundry. I know it is logical to ask if needed or we are unable to find them, however it is also nice to have a bit of a rundown on what's what.

Location was perfect: a walk or short drive into centre of Cambridge and close to main routes to the places we had booked to visit ( Hobbiton, Waitomo and Rotorua)

Decor was a little dated but it was super clean and kitchen was really well equipped ( new cooker; microwave; fridge)

We stayed in a family room, and it was just like our home away from home, the place was very comfortable and very clean. Every spot of the place was very clean. The beddings was very clean and very comfortable .This place exceeded our expectations. My family enjoyed every minute of our stay and would be very happy to book with Cambrian Lodge again. Nothing at all. Everything was spectacular.

Rooms are a bit dated however are comfortable and have most things you need. Beds are comfy, family room had a lot of space and full kitchen. Shower is nice. Owner more than happy to accomodate our 2 car trailers.

Friendly hosts and always so accommodating. Comfortable, clean and well-equipped room. I've stayed here on several occasions and will come back again. It's close to the town centre and is good value for money.

I have no complaints or improvements to suggest. I was very happy with my stay here.

I stay here quite often, the rooms are a bit dated but they are always clean and tidy and the owners are a lovely couple who always do what they can to help. If I'm staying for more than one night I try to get one of the rooms with a full kitchen which again is a bit dated, but has everything I need. Great value for money compared to anywhere else, especially near Cambridge... probably why it is so hard to get a reservation!

Maybe a table and chair for doing my office work in the evenings...

We had a comfy space in a basic studio in attractive grounds.The owners were very friendly and helpful. There's also a small pool hidden around the back that we enjoyed after long days on our bikes.

The bed was a little too soft for me. Personal preference really.
