Magnificent breakfast. We felt very welcome and the boutique feeling is so much nicer than the huge crowded hotels. The porter (sorry, forgot his name) was really good with the kids and friendly overall which made the arrival very positive. Small great touches here and there that make it such a good experience to stay at the George. I would travel to Christchurch just for staying at the George.

Even though I am unsure if the hotel can do anything about it, I must say there was quite a lot of noise through the night in the hallway. I could hear what was being said as people passed by so the doors do not seem to be very well sound proof. There also seemed to be a large group of people gathered on the floor above us at around 23.00 - that floor did not have rooms so unsure what it was used for. So altogether I was woken up several times during the night. But all in all - I am still rating the hotel 10.

The George is my "go to" hotel in Christchurch. Great rooms, quality restaurant, excellent service, good location and value for money. Highly recommended.

The George is a beautiful boutique hotel in a great location in Christchurch with a personal training gym adjacent to the property and included in the hotel facilities. The breakfast was delicious with a lot of variety and healthy options. The service was exceptional. We felt very pampered and welcome at the hotel. Surprisingly crunchy and delicious apples in the lobby and in public areas on each floor. We didn’t use the guest laundry facilities but really appreciated that they were available. It was a nice fifteen minute walk to Riverside Market, and is across the street from a Hagley Park, which is huge and gorgeous. Also very close to the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.

We loved everything about the property. It is a very nice boutique hotel. We especially appreciated early check-in and late check-out to accommodate our flights.

Pleasant quiet location opposite North Harley Park. Easy to walk into the centre and not too far. Good parking. Large executive room with good facilities. Breakfasts with good quality ingredients. Dinners good too.

Service in the restaurant slow at times. Seemed too few staff for the number of visitors. First night at dinner took a long time to be served. At breakfast they ran out of pasties so I asked if they could be topped up. Nothing happened and no-one said anything to me. On the day we arrived. We were asked if we would like a drink taken to our room so we asked for coffees. They took at least half an hour to arrive.

Christchurch is a pretty city, and staying at The George made the experience even more enjoyable. The hotel food and drinks were great, and the attention to detail and service were impeccable. One of us left the passport in the room only to find out (when we were 200 klms driving towards our next destination), when The George called us. They immediately arranged to have it delivered to our following hotel, which we received on arrival. A life saver 🥰 We would stay at The George again.

Nothing to fault.

An abundance of toiletries which were of a high standard. Also liked the turn down service & chocolates (which is getting rarer & rarer in todays mad world) liked the touch of the George Bear on first night stay which has been given to our granddaughter. Location was fabulous as you can walk into where all the action is or you can catch the tram which is highly recommended. Bar staff great, friendly & pours a great Martini.

Overall Staff were great apart from Male Concierge. Rang room service for a bottle opener & upon opening door was very rudely & abruptly told that there was only one bottler opener in Hotel & he would wait until we had opened the bottle. (Maybe The George Hotel could nip down to the 2 bob shop & buy half a dozen of them so this doesn't occur again), Breakfast girls were great, yet again let down by one waitress who clearly did not want to be there on the 2 occasions we had breakfast in Hotel. Was totally not happy when asked for a teapot of boiling water for my tea that I had brought down to breakfast with me. Otherwise would have given a 5 star for staff.

The George was beautiful! Upon entering we were immediately pleased with our choice. Fast and friendly check in. Easy parking right out front. Our room was beautiful and so comfortable! Lovely view of the trees. Great temperature control and comfortable beds. The concierge was super helpful and made great suggestions and guidance upon request. My one son was given a later check out which was much appreciated. The dining was delicious in 50 Bistro, just be sure to make a reservation in advance. We were fortunate to get a table.

We had a great stay at The George. The staff were friendly and approachable, the room well appointed and comfortable, the hotel bar and restuarant were good too. The location is great, next to the park but close enough to stroll into the city in 15 minutes.

There was a mix up with the main course at the restuarant, which ended up being cold. Unfortunately the staff didnt think to try and keep it warm for us. This was surprising as everything else was great.

Warmest welcome we’ve received on our honeymoon. Great facilities and beautiful property. Mark the concierge is a wonderful asset and I didn’t catch the name of the girl checking us in but she was amazing and gave us a complimentary upgrade as well as recommendations for the evening.

The festival at the park went on a bit late and was quite loud until 10pm. The avocado at breakfast was a little underripe so tasted very green.

reception was open 24 hours, very fast turnaround on any service, helped us immensely with finding our luggage with the airport, great with directions etc. really makes you feel like a star. was the perfect room for our honeymoon. they even gave us a little note and a few gift chocolates when we said it was our honeymoon! very good.

the view was not good, but its nothing to complain about. you're right next to the park and the botanic gardens is like 5 mins away. i do wish they gave bedroom slippers, but not a problem, floor was heated.
