This is our first visit to Madeira and it went beyond our expectations. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful from the start, from the receptionist to the hotel staff, caterers, waiters, waitresses, cleaners alike. The location of the hotel was just what we wanted, not too busy and a good range of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel restaurant offers excellent food but a good idea to book a reservation. Our room was located on the ground floor with a balcony overlooking Camara de Lobos bay. It had a large bed, excellent shower, room enough for clothes, (if you have long dresses they won't hang up as the wardrobe has two shelves lower down, I hung mine in the bathroom off the shower) a fridge which was very useful to keep the water cold, a TV, a very good hair dryer which I was relieved about as this is the first holiday I haven't taken my own and a small table and two chairs on the balcony. Included in the service was a bottle of water each day and tea and coffee facilities. Our room was cleaned daily and fresh towel were supplied when needed. Everything we would have wanted. We hope to visit again in the New Year, would definitely recommend.

We had such a lovely holiday at Pestana Churchill Bay Hotel I couldn't think of anything I didn't like about it. The locals were also very friendly and welcoming as you walked around the bay.

Very nice hotel, with great location. Not only we had the view of the ocean but the location was also great as there were many restaurants around to get food without going by car. Grocery store and pharmacy were also very close. The hotel was very nice, so was having breakfast on the terrace next to the pool with a view of the ocean. Staff at the reception was super nice and helpful. Our room was nice and clean. This town is also a great location as it is not so busy but it is also a convenient location to travel from.

Our room was in the main building - which is the nicer part of the hotel, however we did not have balcony and the room did not really have many places to hang our stuff like wet towels, swimsuits or clothes after a hike. So this was one thing we were really missing. Also the breakfast in my opinion did not have enough options for people with food allergies. I am allergic to milk (not lactose but milk protein) and I did not have many options for breakfast.

The location at the little harbour was very beautiful. Its less busy as Funchal but with all facilities like restaurants, shops etc. Also the weather is better because situated af the more sunny side of the isle. The staff was very friendly and helpful in a personal and kind way.

Some aspects were outdated like the pool. Some little swimmingpool tiles broke or were missing during our stay. Due to fires in the montains a few days we had ashes flowing around at the tables where dinner and lunch was served.

Cleaning staff forgot twice to replace towels they had taken away. Parking is worth thinking about in advance. Nearby open car park, 2min walk,costs €1/h 8am-8pm (Mon-Fri I think) but only takes coins and can be busy or you can pay €12/day with the hotel. Underground carpark 5min walk from the hotel, once again €1/h by coins only or €7.5/day with the hotel. There is often space on level 2, level 3 is near empty and the car doesn’t feel like an oven when you get in.

Hands down the best holiday we’ve had in years! If you’re going to Madeira, stay here and you’ll not regret a minute of it. The hotel was beautifully decorated, immaculate and clean, very comfortable and views were stunning. The staff were the friendliest people we’ve met on the whole island and they tended to our needs with patience, kindness and understanding. We were always welcomed with a smile, and they make you feel so looked after with their impeccable, professional and friendly service, whilst also respecting privacy. We’ll be so sad to leave! The location was fantastic, right next to the sea, with a bustling atmosphere of the local fishing village. Thank you, Pestana Churchill Bay. We’ll be back!

Lovely location on the water oozing historical charm throughout the Churchill bay area. Restaurants.markets madeiran wine tasting all walkable. Hotel very comfortable and somewhat low key in approach. Staff exceptionally accommodating throughout. Breakfast excellent with Lovely locale. Would suggest second floor room.

Beautiful room and very elegant public rooms in this very charming pousada in a small and picturesque fishing village. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food, lunch was very good and breakfast was excellent. The hotel is in a wonderful setting in the very centre of the village of Camara de Lobos. Views are amazing!

Nothing. The village is tiny and busy and bustling all day and into the evening so a little road and people noise outside our room was to be expected. This wasn’t a problem for us and it quietened down way before bedtime.

Amazing buffet breakfast, I had an omelette freshly made most days the view over the port in the morning was beautiful the last few days building work started to widen the road, but it didn't bother us, although it may some people Isabel, Ana, Emanuel, Pedro, made our stay Exceptional - one other piece of advice - Hire A Car - there is so much to see

Nice room, fridge, t and c, water and box of biscuits Excellent choice for breakfast with great view over the harbour. Managed to build the hotel with a decent roof space for restaurant, pool and sunbathing

The ground floor was directly next to a road (busy with visitors not traffic) so not that private when on the balcony or door open

Great location overlooking the bay, great breakfast. Staff were excellent and it was nice to be offered a welcome drink on the terrace. The Village that Churchill Bay is in (Camara de Lobos) is lovely, some nice bars and restaurants and good mix of tourists and locals. Good value too. You can also walk to Funchal along a coastal path that takes about two hours but has some nice bars en route. We also hired a car through the hotel. Car was delivered to the Hotel and the car hire company was superb.

The room was nice, with a great outlook. There was a smell though from the bathroom, perhaps due to the hotel being at the bottom of the bay and the air con could have been more effective. That said I would certainly stay again if visiting Madeira.
