The staff were delightful and couldn't have been more helpful (top tips from concierge Marco to eat at Olivia and Kampo); the location of the hotel was terrific; the room was spotless when we arrived and was cleaned every day; the pretty balcony of our third-floor superior double was nice to sit out on and felt very private (it wasn't one of the wrought-iron ones in the photos); the king-size bed was very comfortable; the shower was great; wi-fi was good; the area was very quiet at night; breakfasts (included in the room price) were FANTASTIC – cooked/prepared to order, plentiful and delicious.

Some small gripes with the design of our room, which was attractive, well-lit and otherwise excellent: 1) it would have been nice to have had a small table on both sides of the bed, not just one; 2) drawers would have been helpful (we stacked our clothes on top of the hanging area); 3) the loo, which was separate from the basin and shower area, was at the foot of the bed, by the entrance to the room. It had no outside window or extractor fan and just a swing door with a gap around it. The only alternative was the toilets down in the basement, by the gym, where there's one loo for men and two for women.

Decor in the rooms, much nicer than the pictures. Helpful staff. Fab breakfast, very high quality and really quick service. I’m vegetarian and lots of selection - I don’t understand the some of the reviews below about quality / selection. Would definitely stay again.

Only slight issues was bed was a little too soft for me and mattress topper was loose under the sheets leaving a gap between the headboard under the sheets.

Everything. Excellent location, beautiful rooms and lobby, great breakfast, helpful and agreeable staff, quality toiletries. I am back at this hotel after my first stay here last year and it was again a very pleasurable experience. I will definitely return.

The service was great and location is within Funchal itself to suit us. Quiet rooms and tbar he breakfast menu and being served at the table was enjoyable, the room was generous size ,we were top floor - say querky with the walls of concrete shuttering but the overall appearance is ok - designer licence is different i ilked it. Large rain shower super and nice toiletries provided. Welcoming helpful reception. Restaurants very near by, to many to chose.

Its as stated - no bar, - to use your card for entry after 6pm though always attended desk, and no rooftop type outside space for relaxation, though gym and rest area in the basement.

There was a kettle with sugar from Nespresso, and instant coffee! In a 4star hotel I’d expect a coffee machine.

Everything was perfect. The location of the hotel, close to all places. The room was very clean and comfortable. All the staff, at the reception and restaurant, were wonderful, very helpful and friendly. We would like to special thank to a lovely girl working at the reception at night shifts and the lovely gentleman having day shifts. Sorry we don't remember their names. They both helped us to get to the most interesting places and we were very gratefull for all of their recommendations. We would definitely stay here again. The best hotel ever

Nice and very helpful service. Clean and comfortable room. Very tasty breakfast - from the menu. There is also a restaurant in the hotel where you can eat lunch. For dinner, you can choose one of the restaurants located along the street - go right from the hotel doors. I recommend Regional Flavours at the end of the street. Beautiful, small St. Peter's Church (Igreja de São Pedro) located ca. 1 min from the hotel. Good location, ca. 7 min walking distance to the marina.

The hotel is modern, comfortable and clean. Furnishings of wood, steal, stone and concrete feels both cozy and refreshing under the Madeira’s hot weather. ButT the real deal is the address as it is close to all buses, marina, information centre, from which you can set off to some trips around Madeira, as well as it is on the route of Aerobus. Furthermore, the hotel itself is in pedestrian zone with several quite good restaurants.

The hotel provides extraordinary “à la carte” breakfasts that are healthy and tasty. Nevertheless, the constant and limited offer makes the choices a bit boring when staying over longer time. Probably a weekly change might help. Secondly, my room has view into a nearby sideway street that being not in pedestrian zone was quite busy and noisy.

I really couldn't fault this hotel. The staff were lovely, the location was great and the beds were super comfy. The shower was hot and powerful. We didn't use the little gym downstairs but we were able to refill our water bottle from inside. Breakfast was very nice - loved the Caju bowl in particular. The only small criticism was our toilet door didn't stay shut - it used to swing open

Really the only issue was the toilet door not staying closed - would have a liked a few more tea bags in the room and some extra milk
