The location is perfect. Staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great each day. The room had AC and fridge, both worked well. Douche was very comfortable, the water could get very warm as I like it. For the pool, they provide towels, which is very nice.

There is no iron and iron boards to be used in the rooms. they have an ironing service but you have to pay money per item which would be expensive in my case. The douche gel in tiny packages were not my favorite. it would be better if they have big bottles mounted to the wall. Also, pool is very tiny and cold. And the internet was not very fast.

The hotel is in the city centre of Funchal with shops and restaurants nearby and the bus to the airport as well. The room was really big with everything you need in it. The breakfast had a lot of variety, but I'd appreciate if there were more local fruits. Since Madeira has 14 types of bananas, you'd think that they'd offer some of them apart from the standard ones. The roof bar is nice. You can have coffee or food there and swim in the pool if you want. Everything was great!

Since I asked to change the booking from two people to one, I'd expect some discount to the price.

As described - other comments are correct so you know what expect. In our case it was little better than expected. Yes noisy but ok (maybe not noisy neighbours and on streets also rare cars or walkers in the night. But it can be an issue! However almost any Funchel centre hotel was described as noise can be an issue - why pay more;). Breakfast good for the hotel - as in any other - standard choice. However great, tasty roasted bread! Perfect location 5-15min to shops, city center, restaurants, buses...

Excellent location in central Funchal, the street is very quiet and close to one of many city gardens. Many tourist atractions are at walking distance. The staff is very friendly, kind and helpful. The room was very clean. The rooftop bar is nice with beautiful views and a swimming pool. The breakfast is great. The dinner is especially delicious and it is served in the rooftop bar.

The room looked bigger and more modern on pictures, but overall everything was great.

The hotel is conveniently situated for a local park and the Funchal city centre. There is a rooftop swimming pool and snack bar where you have a panoramic view of Funchal and the mountain area above. Staff are friendly and informative. Breakfast room well organised for self serving. Coffee far better than usual. A variety of breads and an excellent hot scrambled eggs.

Perhaps more sweet cakes at breakfast. There was only one small apple cake with hard crusty pastry. Kettle in room would not open but was easily replaced by staff.

Central location in Funchal with good access to the city's facilities. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms comfortable and clean. Good quality breakfasts. The rooftop bar and pool are a really great feature of this hotel.

There wasn't an iron in the room and the staff couldn't locate one

Location was excellent, centre of town, close to all amenities, (restaurants, cafes, bars, taxi rank). Within a few minutes’ walk from the promenade and port of Funchal where the cruise ships would dock of a couple of days during which time the local restaurants, bars, and tourist attractions became busy as would be expected. We purchased a 'Hop-on/hop-off' ticket for the open-top yellow-bus service and made good use of it for sight-seeing in and around Funchal. We took the cable-car up to the Botanical Gardens but were not brave enough to take the infamous 2KM wooden toboggan ride. There is a panoramic bar and small pool on the roof, but the bar has restricted opening and is closed on Sunday although seats, sunbeds and pool remained accessible. The staff were all very friendly (Luis on reception was particularly helpful and must be commended) but the roof-top barman and breakfast staff were very good. The breakfast buffet was excellent and plentiful (scrambled egg, bacon, hard-boiled eggs, cold-meat, cheeses, serial, yogurt, fresh-fruit, croissants and a selection for bread-rolls) Juice, coffee, tea etc.. we couldn't fault it. Throughout Funchal, public and municipal gardens and promenades were beautifully maintained and very clean.

Due to the town-centre location it was a little noisy at night, but not from rowdy bars, more from the fact that over night local street maintenance and cleaning was performed preparing Funchal the new-day ahead.

Great location - near to the centre and by a beautiful garden with 400 year old trees; restaurants, cafes and a shopping mall within 5 mins walk. Breakfast had a good selection with hot items, yogurts, cereals, fruit and croissants. And the staff - the reception guys were friendly and very helpful. Special thanks to Cesar who booked us on a great tour to West Madeira almost at the last minute. And the breakfast ladies were nice too. The room was cleaned daily, towels changed and toiletries replenished. Plenty of storage room in the wardrobe - with a lot of clothes hangers! The airconditioner worked perfectly and there are various programs in English and other languages on the TV

We had to pay to use the room safe - €12 for a week. Also no fridge in the room - in summer this is a must have. However we were told that the rooms will be refurnished next year - so hopefully this will be included next time we come here.

Pool a surprise, and towels provided. The location was fabulous. The staff really friendly and helpful, suggesting lovely restaurants (not touristy) and booking airport taxi. Breakfast was fine, decent choice. Nice communal spaces inside (in case of rain), on the roof (for the sunny days). Room size was fine, plenty of hangers, spare blankets, suitcase space, kettle.

Furniture in the room a bit tired looking, and in need of update. We couldn't use the balcony as road below was too noisy (cobbled). Powered milk to go with the coffee and tea would have been great.

Hotel Madeira was amazing for our 4 night stay on this lovely island. Clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Amazing pool rooftop with a bar and restaurant. Did not try the food but the drinks were great! Breakfast was only eaten one day due to the start time being 0730 which was a bit late for us as we were up by 0600 daily for hikes. But it was adequate the one day we did eat it! A/C worked great, shower had good pressure. Zero complaints! Affordable, great location, no parking though so keep that in mind.

The website says there is parking but upon arriving we were given the name of a parking garage nearby for 4€/ day which was fine but it was a 6 min walk as well. It did not bother us much but worth sharing.
