The hostel was at a great location and very clean. The outside area was gorgeous and the morning breakfast was tasty although rather small. Almost all the staff were lovely, very accommodating and easy to get along with.

One of the staff members, Marc, made us feel very uncomfortable during our stay. On multiple occasions he made inappropriate or insulting jokes and comments toward us and a few other guests. It was to the point where we were hesitant to leave our room on the evenings he was working the front desk. All the other staff were amazing though and very kind and accommodating, this was only an issue with Marc. Also not a great indoor common room at this place which is often needed because of how much it rains on the island.

The breakfast was included in price and was amazing 🤤 Was very tasty every single day. The stuff is super friendly and helpful. Adrian met me and explained everything about the place. I liked the house, beautiful garden. For a hot days there is a small Swimmingpool 😎 On the territory the cat and 2 ducks are living. There is cozy kitchen , with fridge, lokal tea and caffemachine . In the hall u can find a shelf with useful information about what u can do on the island. It’s almost central location. The rooms and bathrooms are clean . Towel is provided. U can ask for a hairdryer on the reception also. There is an option to rent a room if hostel format is not for u. Cool that in hostel they provide activities like every day hiking tours (30€), family dinners(20€), calm tourism (cards with tasks). In the same building is restaurant where u can have a good food or just go to have a drink in the evening. I really appreciated with the community of people there.

The curtains on the beds would be nice for more privacy. Also would be good to have a place for drying the clothes, because the weather on the island is unpredictable , some guys from my room catched the heavy rain and dryed clothes at every free place in the room 😬

The hosts (especially Helena and Adrian) were so welcoming. They were always greeting us with a smile and helpful tips on restaurants. Breakfast was very filling, with eggs and pancakes prepared creatively each morning. We rented a room with a private bath, which was very spacious and clean. The location was very convenient to the airport, restaurants, and historical sites. We walked into old town every day and often our restaurant choices were within walking distance as well. Complimentary yoga mats that we utilized in the spacious back garden.

We liked everything but the bathroom could use more hooks for wet items (we visited thermal springs 3x and often had wet suits and towels) and more shelf space near the sink would be convenient.

The room is small but comfortable. We really loved all the wooden furniture. The bed is comfy and the view of the garden from the balcony very pleasant. The building is old and refurbished with great taste, preserving the old and adding a touch of modernity. What we enjoyed most was the friendly atmosphere in the whole structure and the fact of meeting people from all over the place. We had new year's eve dinner at the hostel's restaurant and it was great. And we hung out with a bunch of the people we met that night and the following day. Breakfast is delicious.

Loved the breakfast, the garden, and how accommodating they were with luggage and use of the garden area before check in and after check out. They also called us a cheap taxi on our way out. Beautiful hostel, great private room! Eat at the restaurant downstairs, their food is incredible.

Don't go there if you need quiet indoors in the daytime. (lots of music blasting during the day while they clean, music in the garden during breakfast and you can hear people stepping on the stairs and exiting rooms quite loudly. But it's a hostel, and it was honestly the only negative thing I could find.

Great hostel!!! The vibe is amazing, very social & perfect for solo travellers. Very clean, with cool shared spaces, especially the beautiful garden to enjoy breakfast in the sun and meet cool people! Special credits to the staff, they are all so kind and fun, very welcoming and friendly - especially Luciaan (amazing receptionist!!!) and Romain (amazing tour guide!!!), both super attentive & hospitable. They also organise daily tours around the island, a cool way to explore and socialise! I highly recommend the “Ring of Fire” tour with Romain. Will for sure come back!

We LOVED out of the blue! Unfortunately my partner tested positive for covid the first night we checked in and we were unable to leave our room, but the staff was SO kind and helped us through our quarantine with fresh towels, takeaway food, and world class friendliness. Bed was huge and super comfortable. Shower was impeccably clean and perfectly heated for easing my partner's symptoms. Location was amazing as it was walking distance to several pharmacies. Our view of the garden was amazing and everyone seemed to be having a great time down there nightly. We will be coming back some day to experience the tours, meals, and other facilities!

Our air conditioner unit kept auto turning off after 3 minutes and I couldn't figure out the system myself but that was just a me problem 😅

We stayed in the hotel for a week, and our experience was a mix of highs and lows . Location: The hotel's location was undoubtedly one of its best features. With everything conveniently close by, including shops, restaurants, and attractions, we found it easy to explore the city without hassle. Breakfast in the Garden: One highlight of our stay was enjoying breakfast in the hotel's garden. The serene atmosphere and delicious spread provided a lovely start to our mornings. Staff is amazing. Thank you for taking such a good care for us.

However, our room left much to be desired. While it was adequate, the mattress was not very comfortable, and the absence of shelves made organizing our belongings a bit challenging. Moreover, the aggressive orange colour didn't quite resonate with us and felt out of place in the tranquil Azores setting. Overall Ambience: Out of the Blue hotel could benefit from a more natural and fresh aesthetic that aligns better with the laid-back Azores vibe. Basically, keeping the original subtle natural-brown colours suited the hotel better. That was one of the reasons why we've booked this hotel in the first place.

Perfect for a short stay, especially if travelling solo. Breakfast in the morning is the perfect place to meet other guests, form new travel plans, and generally make connections and going with the flow. Staff is always welcoming and caring, and really try to get to know you if if that's something you want. Rooms are clean, hostel-bunkbed style. Clean towels are provided and the shared bathrooms are generally clean. Location is great and walkable to major destinations in PDL. If renting a car, free overnight parking is available close by. This is my 2nd time staying at this location, since it checks most of the boxes for me. Private rooms are very nice as well, I would prefer that but they book up quite quickly during high season.

Would be perfect if the beds could have curtains for a little more privacy. Some of the shared bathrooms need more hooks/shelves.

Everything was great. However, the electricity would short out quite often. I’m talking about every two minutes it would sort out. And during the night this is really inconvenient because the emergency light turns on in the bedroom and it wakes up anybody who has sensitive to light. That is me, so I did not sleep one of the nights. I went to sleep at 10 and I woke up at midnight and at two am because of the whole situation. I ended up staying awake from 2 AM onwards and the next day was difficult and challenging to do my work. And then I had to catch an airplane so my stay was unsatisfactory.

The electricity hook up situation and how it’s wired. It has problems and they need to be resolved pronto.
